  1. Hi All!

Currently my sister-in-law is here from

Canada. She holds a Canadian passport and doesn’t have American citizenship or American Residency. She came here by air plane. Now she wants to go to Tijuana, Mexico to see a dentist. I thought all non-essential border traffic is closed. I’m thinking that when she wants to try to return to the USA in San Ysidro by car she will be refused entry. Can somebody confirm if this is still the case?

    Thank you!

  2. Hello All!

I have a question regarding my daughter of 4 months old if she could have US citizenship. She is born in the Netherlands last October in wedlock and my daughter currently holds only Dutch citizenship . I'm a Dutch citizen with a valid IR-1 visa after an interview last January. My wife is a US citizen that derived her citizenship from her dad. My wife came to the US as a resident, but because she was under 18 at that time she automatically became a US citizen. This was already after she finished high school in Mexico (she also is a Mexican citizen). About 2 months ago we applied for a CRBA for my daughter. We didn't think it would be a big deal since my wife is a US citizen. We also know of the rule that you have to proof 5 years of residence in the US when you apply for a CRBA. My wife never had a job in the US, because she was being a nanny to her little niece. This was voluntary since I always had a good job in the Netherlands. Also did she continue to live with her parents until she moved to the Netherlands over 1 year ago to wait for our IR-1 visa process. This we also explained during the interview of my daughter's CRBA interview. They needed additional proof of the 5 year residency in the States. My wife is currently seeing if she can find more information we can possible send. My wife doesn't have any records of an employment in the US. She also never had a bank account in the US, she was always using Dutch credit cards. We provided with lots of mailing directed to my wife, pictures and also showing payments in the States. My question is that in the case that the CRBA of my daughter is denied what would be the best way to take our daughter to the US? I read that we could maybe file for the N400K. My wife's dad has employment proof for about 20 years in the US. Another option I read was to just make another I130 application and then do adjustment of status while being in the US. Because of my visa I have to live in the US to maintain residency. Or is it still an option to apply for my daughter US Citizenship in the US at a US Passport office. I hope somebody could give me some advice what would be the smartest way to make sure our baby girl can also live with us in the US.

    Your advice is appreciated! Thanks!

    Hi USS_Voyager and pushbrk,

Thanks for the replies. I will provide do the W2 and 1040 and give the tax transcripts as well.

Is it common for embassies to ask for Bank Balance as well?

Below is the exact grab from the website

I would suggest you take the tax transcript as well. I received a 221g for not having a tax transcript 2 weeks ago. It was not required to take it prior to the interview, but they still wanted to see it. After I sent them the tax transcript I was approved. If you can avoid this hassle I would recommend so. ;) The consulate did not ask me for a bank balance

  4. Hello All!

This coming Tuesday the 29th of January I have an interview for the IR-1 Visa in Amsterdam. My wife is currently here in the Netherlands with me. Should my wife coming with me to the interview? And will she be able to come with me to the interview? And if that is possible would you recommend that she goes with me? Or is it better if it is only me that is going to the interview?

    Thank you!

  5. Hello all!

My case is at the NVC since September this year.Today I finally got an email that my case was complete and that the NVC will check when I can have my interview at the consulate in Amsterdam, the Netherlands. I read this could be anytime between 2 and 8 weeks before I get my interview date. On December 11 we also have an appointment with the consulate in Amsterdam for an CRBA for my daughter. Is there any possibility that I can ask the consulate to also have my interview on December 11? Or should I just wait until I get an appointment date?

  6. I'm also in the middle of the NVC stage and paid the AOS fee, and just made the payment for the Immigration fee. I have been looking at the DS-260 and there it asks to show your previous addresses. In 2014 I was for around 11 months in Canada on a working holiday. Do I need to Include this on the DS-260 form too? I'm not sure, because I don't need a police record from Canada since I didn't stay longer that 12 months.

Hello everyone, does this mean nvc recieved the approval of the case?

And when do you guys think I should start calling to get the invoice number?

Case Was Sent To The Department of State

On August 15, 2018, we sent your case, Receipt Number SRC********, to the Department of State for visa processing. You can find general information on Consular Processing by visiting our website at www.uscis.gov . The website will provide information on what to do next, who to contact, and how to inform us of any changes in your situation or address.

I have this too since August 9. I believe it can take up to six weeks after this message before they have a case number generated at the NVC. Is there anyone that can confirm this?
