hello all,

as you can see from my time lline that I have chosen K3 route and my wife has interview on august 23. Now Ijust received something fuzzy in the mailbox from NVC. It says that we have recieved from immi. visa pettion you filed on behalf of "my wife name". before we process you must send if AOS fee bill. of 70 dollars. why am I getting this.? I have NOT filed I-824 to transfer my I-130 to NVC. the packet also contains ds-3032.

what should I do? (ofcoucrse I will call NVC first thing morning tomorrow)

keeping in mind that, I would like to persue CR1 if possible, even if it means waiting for 3-4 months more.

just to add, for this, I also got a different case number than my K3 case number.

can I persue Cr-1 visa at this point?

when my wife gets approved for K3 can she just wait until this CR1 kicks in (if possible.)..??

I guess people from gujarat will be able to answer this question in detail? neways my wife lives in gujarat. On the mumbai consulate's website for PCC requirement it says that some district in gujarat no longer issue local PCC, in that case just bring Passport office PCC. Now my wife did try to get PCC from the local police station but was told that they cant give one. Now at the time of interview, do we have to prove that we fall in "the district which does not issue local PCC"? I mean should I get something from the local police station saying "they no longer issue local certi?". what do you guys think?

I had a question abt medical report. Do WE HAVE to submit it at VFS office or she can take it along when she goes for actual interview? Will there be any disadvantage to us if we bring the report directly to the embassy at interview date? ne suggestions/tips?

I have a question regarding the passport/visa pick up after it is approved. I am getting some mixed answers. On VJ what I have seen is that everybody is saying they will mail your passport with visa stamped in it to you thru mail. but I was talking to my wife and one of her friend had a inteview (CR1) and she picked up her visa/passport in the afternoon. Is there such an option available now a days? anybody has any suggestions? thanks

my wife file my I 130 in feb n I 129 on march 8th both r approved n on 27th june i sent in my packet 3 i ask da consulate (mumbai) about my packet 3 n they told me tht they sent my packet 3 on 7th june but i never received so they asked me to download n sent is da packet 3......... man i hope i get interview in aug... b'coz my 1st anniversary is on 2nd sept i pary to god tht i get interview in aug

yeah..dont worry you will probably have it in august..I have no idea how these people are making decisions man...one of my friend he applied abt 1.5 months after me (I129F) and his wife's interview is already in july ...dont worry it will happen !!!!!! gluck

no she will not get part 2. In our case, we did not recieve P3 from mumbai, but in P4 they only had part - 1 in the package. My wife only send in ds-230 part -1 and it was fine. may be somebody else can add/correct me? gluck

I just wanted to get an opinion from everyone on the following topic. I have been reading this form for a while. Lately, I saw couple of posts mentinoning that two doses of MMR & Vericella are required. Did most of you (for AOS) had two doses of the above vaccines? My wife got 1 shot of MMR and Vericella so far. Do you have to take two doses of each? or its a matter of CS doctor (here in US) who decides that while he is filling out I693A form? can you please share your experience/what you guys did..?? thanks everyone

My husband sumbitted his documents today at VFS office, Hyderabad. They took the copy of the biographic pages and returned the original passport with a barcode attached to it.

Does anyone know if they count only working days when they say that you can submit papers at VFS office no earlier than 15 days and no later than 10? :help:

Yes, they count only working days. My husband submitted 13 working days before the interivew

when counting working days, do you include saturdays as well..?? or only monday thru friday.?

this might be a dummmmmmm question..I was reading P4 my wife received and it said bring following document/or submit rather, to VFS office. first box is for Passport. No where in that paragraph it mentions about submitting a copy of the passport. I guess it is assumed that we need to submit just the copy of the passport and not the acual passport to VFS? Do I have the correct understanding?

I just wanted to pass out this information..

basically, my I129 approval is valid until 8/19/07 and our visa call is on 8/23/07.

I emailed mumbai embassy and asked them if the consulate can extend the validity of my approval OR if this will become any issue? I got a reply after 2 days saying that "This will not be an issue. Do not worry too much"

has anyone faced this situation or a different respone from any embassy in India?

I told my wife to print out this email and she will take it to the interview just incase those people

I got an email from mumbai this morning after asking them for an interview letter: my wife's scheduled for an interview on July 26th!

It's sooo much sooner than we had expected!

congrats man..!!! how come you found out so late man..I guess you forgot to check the visa interview schedule for July they pasoted on june 15 anyways very good news.....

you must be going crazy rite now gathering all the peperwork

they give all documents back at time of interview. except medical report,which they keep.......but vaccine details,they give u back....as v need it when v reach there.

but remeber dnt open d medical envelop. they do it themselves at embassy otherwise its nt valid.

my wife had the same problem. What we did is that I told her to go 2 a child specialist doctor. I am not sure where you are from, but atleast in Gujarat they are the only one who give you a "card/record" that certain vaccine is given. other than that I told her to get titre test done (it cost about 2500 rs for MMR, vericella, Hep B etc). based on the report her doctor will give her a written statement that she needs/or does not need certain vaccines. and she will also get those cards stamped/and written from doctor's office showing necessary vaccines done. I think the main one you need are MMR, TD, vericella and Hep B seriese. I hope I am not confusing tooo much here....le me know if you have any questions...gluck

Should I also bring a photocopied version of the packet?

We already mailed the consulate, per their request, a copy of all the paperwork on the checklist, and it is exactly what we are going to bring tomorrow.

Once you have your interview, what paperwork does the consulate keep, if any?

if you can then I would advise you to do it. it wont hurt you if you keep a copy just incase you need it!!!! in case you lose something..but its just my thought.!!!

My wife inquired this back in gujarat, was told that that is how it works. there is no original certificate. all you get is the certicate (on light green color paper) and it has a govt stamp and says TRUE copy. Now I am just worried that when my wife goes for the interview, they might ask "where is the original"? what does your marriage cerificate look like? do you guys have an actual original certificate..?? any suggestions/info is appreciated.!!

i think that is perfectly fine as long as it has the stamp and the signatures from the officials in blue / green or any other ink than black which looks like a true copy

in our case we did get the originals along with registration of our marriage in indian and american court and also our geico insurance together in america

but i m pretty sure some states dont give the originals but as long as it is not xerox and a true copy its perfectly fine , need not worry .

actually my wife just recieved her packet 4 this friday ..I was just looking over the AOS docs and the process. I remember reading on this AOS forums that someone mentioned that if you enter thru JFK airport, they give you EAD right there..?? is this completely true..?? I live in chicago but my parents stay in new jersey area.... if my wife does get her EAD at JFK, then do we have to file the AOS forms , from that area..??

if this is correct then, I guess I would save some money on EAD as compared to sending it along with I-485?

can somebody shed some lights here..??? My main goal is to get her EAD as soon as possible so that she can apply for social sec and can obtain a driver's license

just found out that my wife received packet 4 this friday ...finally the moment is here...but the interview is a bit late ( on august 23 ) I wanted something earlier

my wife is kind of happy to have the interview in august, so that she can get her indian clothes shopppping done

I was just happy to know that she fianlly received the letter in the mail given that packet 3 never made it her house

hmmm, I don't think he meant you can make changes! He is just mentioning how the passport ppl made the changes.

Right! I wasn't going to make the changes myself :-) I wanted to confirm that the passport people do make such changes insted of re-issuing a new passport.

man, for a second I thought you were gonna make this change by yrself

if you flip thru your indian passport, on 2-3 pages it will say obersavation, that's where the official will make any changes. to avoid another trip to the office, call them before you go and ask for what you will need to bring..otherwise you will wait in line for hours and when your number comes they will tell you "ooh you need this this and that" the typical way

P.S. in our case they took our original passport as well for some 15 days (to make correction). Make sure you keep copy of your current passport meanwhile just incase you need it..!!!

Hi, I had a question and was hoping could get an answer from our fellow VJers -

I(petitioner) have already applied for I-130 and I-129F for my wife (beneficiary). We sent copies of both our passports. Our application has not been approved yet. However, my wife's passport has incorrect information and I would like to correct it before we submit copies for the interview at the consulate.

What should I do? The passport office is saying we get a new passport issued with the correct information. Is there a way to get an amendment done in the current passport itself, without getting a new passport?

I am not sure which state u r frm. In my wife's case (gujarat), they printed out address incorrectly. All they did is that in the observation section they wrote down correct address by hand and police officer put his signature and indian govt stamp. When I got my indian passport (abt 12 yrs ago). same thing. my birth place was wrong and they ammeded it by hand in the observation section. but this was for gujarat. not sure how it works in other states! I guess yr best bet is to contact the office which issued your passport. hope this helps!

Also, how did you verify Mumbai received the case? Did you call them? Any tips on getting through?

I just stapled two photos together on ds-156 form.

I just email them and they usually reply the next day. Try emailing them first. I just asked them if they have received our file and they said yes! lets see what happens on this 15th. they usually put a list up for the next month interview calls. I will find out if my wife will get an interview or not in July
