I should that upon calling them, I was told "nobody from the VISA team was around" which was great, considering i thought I'd rang the SUPER DUPER PREMIUM £1.20 AND YOUR FIRST BORN VISA SERVICE on my freaking mobile as well. All I wanted to know was "does anybody check your mail box or is it just a "when it gets full, we'll maybe take a gander" job.
Is this common? I sent both as "recorded" which was a relief, but Royal Mail thought it was odd they wouldnt check their PO BOX in two weeks.
-
I mailed through my package with the initial forms 11 days ago, I mailed my request for an interview yesterday (both by special delivery)
I have been told they are BOTH still in the US' PO BOX...what the heck? Apparently it should have been signed for by now but just hasnt!
What should I do?

The medical exam is most concerned with the beneficiaries health as regards 'communicable disease', especially tuberculosis.
Anecdotally, there has been evidence in this community of panel physicians alerting beneficiaries to other conditions and requiring those be treated. I once read of a gentlemen needing follow-up for a shadow on an x-ray.
My husband was told that if there was any remarkable in the exam, he would be notified.
Thanks, I hate medicals and examinations, mine is next week...Im getting that "what will turn up?" feeling.

Gonhorrea can be cured, however, due to strains of 'superbugs' it has become troublesome with certain variation of Gonhorrea to be cured with antibiotics.
If that's an issue, it can be treated with certain antibiotics. It's known to cause abnormal birth, such as conception within the falopian tube which can be deadly. Or, damaged to the vas deferans within males creating infertility. I don't see why they included gonhorrea as a significant disease since it can be treatable.
I hope they don't look at gonhorrea with a red flag as compared to HIV/AIDS. Afterall, what about syphillis, genital herpes, chlymedia. etc...? Why aren't they included within the CDC lists of significant diseases? Weird.
I know, im just a panic'er, I hate doctors and medicals with a passion.

Do they test for these at the Medical (London specifically)?
Gonhorrea is on the list of diseases but no one has made mention of being tested for STI's outside of a blood test?

Hello there,
Just looking through my medical questionnaire, and I have some rhetorical questions...
If you puffed on a joint in college once or twice, should you say "yes" to drugs and tobacco and explain thats all it was a long time ago at a party?
If you got too drunk at a party once and ended up taken to hospital as a precaution, should you say "yes, I went to hospital and yes I have abused alcohol"
I know you have to be 100% honest, but man, I feel pretty bad having this questionnaire and thinking its going to look a lot worse for things that happened 5 years ago when I was a bit more foolish and made the same "rookie" mistakes a lot of us make in life.
Confused,
Teddy
Teddy
Just answer NO to those questions relating to past drug or alcohol use, you dont want to implant any ideas into the interviewer mind or the person examing you that will give them a reason to decline your application
If you answer yes though to a question, how much of an explanation should you give as a supplemental?
-
Has anyone here actually gone through this process without a lawyer and had success ?
Im brand new here, any help is appreciated
Thanks a bunch !!
Yeah, I think most of us have/are! I was the same, it seemed like a LOAD of legal stuff best handled by a lawyer..but unless you have any skeletons in your or your fianc(é)e's closet, the FAQs, GUIDES and members of the forums are here for you.
I've had times when I've made simple things hard and people here have been great at giving you sound advice based on their experiences.
Peace,
Teddy

1. I have another question about the I-129F. One of the things my fiancé is including with it are airplane boarding passes. Should he just send the originals, or should he send photocopies? I told him to make photocopies just in case the originals get lost. But should he keep the originals and just send photocopies?
2. Another question: how important is the ''letter of how we met"? He hadn't written one because he didn't see it anywhere on the guidelines but from what I've read on these forums, it seems like a lot of people wrote it. Is it a requirement and we were just missing something? (He's going to have the letter of how we met anyway, but I'm just curious!)
3. I just found out last night that my doctor has NO COPIES of my immunization records since the last shot they gave me was in 1994. My heart sank when I realized this because at first I thought it meant I'd have to get every single immunization over again and thought it might make our waiting time longer. But then I did a search on 'immunization records' and came across another girl in Canada who said that when she went in for her medical examination, the doctor said he would have to give her 2 shots, because she had no record. I guess this is what I have to expect?
4. For non-USC's, what have your experiences been with medical examinations (especially in Canada) and what do I expect for the entire procedure, whenever I have to go in for it? I am kind of nervous about it.
Thanks again, you've all been a big help already!
We scanned all ours in to a computer, printed out and put the dates and occasions next to them on the sheets.
My fincée also did a time line to tie up events.
We wrote a "short story" format of how we met and how our relationship had blossomed and things we did and why. It was about 3/4 of a page of A4, the first paragraph was how we met in full detail, the second was along the lines of how things progressed and the thrid was "where are we now and why we want to marry"
We kept the originals for the interview, which i havent had yet.
It all went through fine

Yeah, I know, Im just a panic'er sometimes..It's all been so smooth sailing up untill now, Im the type of person that just always is looking for a way the wheels could come off.
Thanks for your reassurance and babysitting of me across the forum!

What shall I say about "hospitalisation" ?
My parents had me taken in because there was a suggestion my drink had been spiked, I was being very ill and the room was spinning VERY BADLY...it turned out my friends were putting doubles in and i didnt notice until it hit me. I thought I hadnt had that much to drink and couldnt understand why I was absolutely wasted! It was something that I hadnt gave much thought to until I saw the questionnaire. It was a one time thing (I dont normally drink often anymore) , I just dont want it to look "worse" than it is.
I'm really feeling bad about it now because its the one "scrape" i've ever really had.

Copies of the docs?
I havent done any copies...can i scan the docs i have done and keep them as TIF files?
Or do I need to use the forms to produce originals again?
-
I just realised I listed my phone numbers without the international dialling codes.
Should I do it again?

Hello,
Sorry, I really feel like a fool now , but this packet 3 has seemingly been 5x more difficult than the rest of the whole procedure to me!
The DS-156's require two photos (one each) right? Do I need to take two Additional photos to the Interview? Do they have to be the same photo? The same as my initial application?
My Finacée sent me a complete replication of the I-129f package, do I need this still? Do I need it for the interview?
I am proceeding like this:
TOMORROW : Mailing DS-230 Part I, DS-156 (two copies), DS-156K, DS-157 to the embassy
MONDAY : BOOKING MEDICAL
Then I start collecting the nessacery evidence for the interview before finally mailing My packet 3 checklist back to the embassy once everything is in order?
Sorry for so many questions, things were going so well, now my brain has hit a brick wall, i am finding this the most scariest and stressfull thing i have ever done!

Im having a nightmare tonight!
I filled in my DS-156 form at the London embassy's website and when I clicked "continue", it didnt open up a PDF, it just sort of "crashed" and went "done" at the bottom. Adobe then seemed to stop being able to open files from Web Servers
Now the instructions say "dont push continue" a second time.
I've reinstalled Acrobat Reader and tested it and it's fine again.
Should I fill in a new form, or call the embassy tomorrow am?
-
Yeah, I'll do that, I was kind of thinking they meant like "serious medical condition" reason for being taken to hospital, not "one night plonker" reason.
Thanks again for your help

I think many MANY of us have had times when we have gotten completely rat arsed drunk. I did many a time when I was young. I certainly didn't put that I am an abuser of alcohol on my medical questionnaire...
So for my hospitalisation for "misadventure" should i tell it how it was? a group of lads out and it was my turn for the "misadventure"?
I was in for about 6 hours while I slept it off, I was so drunk I dont remember what happened but by all accounts people thought it best to get me in hospital just to check
based on what you have written here in this thread, the answers to all three questions (have you abused, alcohol, drugs, or tobacco) would be no, in my humble, humble opinion. The funny thing is, I rarely drink anymore and my friends now think I am "boring" now I am loved up!
-
I have no idea what the answer to your question is but I had no idea there was a questionnaire for the medical too! When do we receive that? And how long is it, how many questions etc.? I'm very curious, although I guess I could just look it up.
It's in packet 3 which you get from the embassy after the NVC forwards on your case.
I mean, it asks if you have "abused" drugs...I personally wouldnt say two puffs on a spliff 5 years ago really counts as abuse! Likewise, I have smoked 2 cigarettes and 2 cigars in my life, but I have to say "yes" to tobacco and explain the answer?
I took part in a drinking competition a few years ago and ended up in a bit of a state, people called an ambulance as they thought it were best, checked out the next day with a sore head and a profuse apology to the ambulance staff and nurses! It was a one time misadventure, but should I class it as alcohol abuse?
Im worried that this will look really bad when I always looked at it as teenage shennanigans!

Ok,
So i have package 3, and most of the correlating evidence is on its way...while I'm taking deep breaths trying not to hyperventilate, what should I actually be doing?
Should I send back the first part ASAP? (the DS156, 156k and the 157k)
Should I book a medical now? (or is it best to try and get one the day before? Dont fancy travelleing to London repeatedly!)
or should I run around going AAAAAAARGH!
My police check is 2 weeks applied for, my fiancee is mailing me her stuff on Saturday/monday?
I'm so excited, but it seems like this is the part that is easy to not do as efficiently as possible/
Thanks

Postings about visiting the US after filing for K1 is very different on here.
Mostly it is said that it is not recommended, because the chances are there, that you will be send back at the POE which is not a big deal but it might causes problems during the interview where you have to explain the situation.
And also it is more difficult to get an tourist visa after filing K1. Nor sure if your fiance(e) needs a tourist visa or if she can travel without (VWP)
We rang up USCIS to ask them and they said specifically said "no"
Im not sayign it cant be done, but it wasnt worth the risk. Absence also has definately made the heart grow fonder!

We got married today at Oakland California city hall and it was a breeze. Highly reccomend getting the paperwork done first and planning a ceremony/party for later. drinking champagne and very happy. now we can apply for AOS,EAD, and planning a party for April. Good luck to all.
Congratulations mate and matette

The USC has to fill out the I-134, thats what you need.
Get them to work on that, it can take awhile to compile the paperwork.
Wait till you get packet 3 from the embassy, shouldn't take too long, follow the directions from there!
You may be waiting for your police certificate for a while yet, mine took a full 40 days.
It came today~!
haha

Ok,
I havent received anything from the US embassy yet but i DO have my LDN number as NVC sent docs to London on the 20th...
Can I send my DS2001 off already? I applied for my Police Check 14 days ago and I believe that is the only thing I am missing (although I am contacting my GP tomorrow to get my list of immunisations)
Actually, must admit I dont have the I-864 either..whose responsibility is it to fill that in? The applicant or the benficiary?
Thanks
Teddy
Actually, my fiancee is sending me a I-134...do i need a I-864? HAYLP!

I sent mine to the address that was listed on the package 3 they sent to me
VISA BRANCH
5 Upper Grosvenor Street
Is that correct? I should have read this thread before venting but I would assume they would check their mail, sign for it then throw it into their "Crystal Maze" esque machine and start plucking letters at random after they've been in the machine for a month or so!
