  1. Hi All,

In 2020 I went to unemployment after we submitted marriage based application to USCIS (I’m us citizen and at the time we applied I was my husband’s sponsor).

2020 taxes would show that I myself didn’t meet the USCIS sponsorship requirements.

Do 2020 taxes matter if in January this year I started a full time job that again makes me eligible to be his sponsor? Interview in two weeks

    thanks

  3. Hi everyone,

I got my VAWA approved in August 2018. Since then I am waiting for NOA. The only correspondence I received was a courtesy letter saying that my medical is expired - that was in September 2018. Since then - nothing!

Just wanted to check with you how do you find out if your case has been transfer to your local office?

Also my biggest question here is : since my petition is based on VAWA can I use my SAFE address to continue with the 485? I am moving out of state in 2 months, but my safe address is here in this state(my attorney's address). If I have to update my address that means that the case is going to be transfered to the new state, right. I don't want that to happen. Does the safe address work in this case?

    Any advice is appreciated. Thanks!

Hey everyone. I just signed up to the forum.

I've been reading a lot of the past comments and I hope anyone can help me.....

I do not know what to do and I'm really SCARED.

I got married in 2014, my husband never submitted any immigration papers for me. Abuse happened, I separated from him and then found out about VAWA.

I applied for VAWA/i360 and EAD and i485 all together in  January 2017.

My VAWA got denied and now I'm in removal proceedings .... My EAD is not valid anymore and I have no money for lawyer.

I have a son who was born in the USA and is 20 years old. Can he apply for me? and if he does will that cancel out or terminate my removal proceedings???

    ANYONE please help. @sandranj @Damara @iwillsurvive

    THANKS

You can reapply for vawa as long as it has been less that two years after the divorce.

I went with my lawyer. She explained my situation to the officer and gave him the proof of the filed vawa. The officer wanted to cancle my 485 saying that since my husband is not US citizen but LPR he will give me 2 weeks to prove the vawa is approved (we all know how long does vawa actually takes, so that wasn’t an option). So I left not knowing what’s going to happen. My lawer didn’t know as well. She sent a letter to USCIS the very next day and thanks to that letter my 485 is still active (I am still getting the work permits category c9 and the status updade on the 485 shows whats on the picture I am attaching). My advice is - get a lawer.

  6. Hello everyone,

I filed for VAWA in Feb 2017 as an abused wife of LPR (Cuban Citizen - category CU 6).

I had my 485 pending before I apply for VAWA. Few months after I send the VAWA application I went to a 485 interview by myself and the 485 was put on hold until VAWA decision.

More than a month ago I received C31 EAD and as I was readying here, that is kind of indicator that the case is approved. I still haven't receive any letter that my case is approved. Yesterday I received an extension of a prima facie for 180 days... I am so confused. Does that extension means my case is still not approved... Thank you!

  7. Hello everyone! I am new to this forum. I wanted to applause you for all the help and support many of you are providing here!!! I wish I knew about you earlier.. You are a blessing!

I applied for VAWA in February 2017. I am married to a CU6 green card holder and I had a pending I-485 under the cuban adjustment of status before I apply for VAWA.

Went to the interview in May 2017 for i485 without my husband and let the officer know about my pending VAWA.

Since then the case is pending and I still get EAD C9.

Few days ago I recieved a EAD C31. And my I-360 says that card was mailed to me. No status or letter recieved about approved VAWA.

My question is: If everything works in a way that worked for many of you and I recieve the approval letter, do I need to do something to let the office that have my I-485 that I have been approved or they will know and scheduale me for an intervew?

    Thank you!
