  1. We had a problem with a mis-shipped monitor today at work from Dell. Another tech was using an analog/VGA cable and running that into the video card via a VGA to Digital converter. Needless to say, she couldn't get above 1024x768 and the PC required 1260x1024. What ended up fixing the problem was me grabbing the only thing I had that would work with the supplied cable, which was a 2 way digital splitter and the digital cable that came with the monitor. (The supplied cable wouldn't fit in the video card due to different digital cable pinouts). After a reboot and an input signal change on the monitor, she got her desired resolution to display.

Your issue sounds different. Make sure all of your connections (power, signal cable) are secure on all ends. Check for a newer driver online for your card. If you're using an UPS or a power strip, temporarily plug the monitor power into a normal AC jack in the wall. Something could be wrong with the UPS outlet or the power strip outlet. You could have damaged the monitor, particularly if it is a CRT. If your monitor cannot display the higher resolutions, some internals could be damaged and the required refresh rates for higher resolutions may not be able to be displayed. If you can get good resolutions and your colors just look low-quality, confirm that you have your video are settings set to display 16 or 32-bit color depths.

And some monitors require drivers for higher resolution displays. Check for updated drivers for your monitor at the MFC web site.

Also make sure that if you're in a potential multiple-monitors situation, make sure your primary display is "Identified" as #1. Sometimes channels can get mixed up, especially if cable splitters are used, and the mulitple displays thing won't display the required rotation or color depth or resolution. We have another issue at the hospital where I work with a brand new PACS system that runs 4 monitors. Need 3 of the 4 rotated 90 degrees to the left. The two monitors on the #1 channel of the card display fine. However, the #2 channel is hosed and will not do the rotations required, and it's a video card problem. Getting replacement from Dell.

  3. Dang, what a silly question (not dumb, but silly/uninformed, at least)! Well, I've heard stories of 7 and 9 year olds getting pregnant. If you've had your first period, you can get pregnant if you have unprotected sex. I'd advocate abstinence and not to let foolhardy boys (notice I didn't say "men") talk girls into stuff like that before they are emotionally able to cope with the emotions and feelings associated with the action as well as the possibility of making a child as a result. When mine and Jacki's children get of an age where they have to deal with decisions like that, we're going to clamp down and tell them that they're grounded until they're 18, no dating, no boys over...hahahahahaha. Well, I hope we will be able to clamp down...still haven't had that conversation deeply with my baby...

  4. if you want to be safe, you could take the 2x2..

or just send what you have and hopefully you won't get a rfe

My fiancee was given negatives with her pictures, which the paper prints were also too small. So I would be to spec on her pics, I used the negatives that she gave me and had them transferred to a CD at Walmart. After that, I used one of the Kodak machines to make an "ID Card" print that met the very specific guidelines of the passport pictures as required for the Visa/application. Try to do that if you are able. Best wishes-

  5. if the nvc told you it was being forwarded to the embassy then maybe you should call or email the embassy, good luck

Looking at Max's timeline, it looks like he got NOA2 on 5/30. Judging from that, he's likely looking at a USCIS holdup. Looks like you got put in the 100+ day stack, like me and Jacki, too...I seriously feel that a cleaning lady worked on our petition. Who approves petitions at 10:37pm PDT? I was reading a report by the USCIS Ombudsman that was posted via link by another person ("FBI Check") earlier and it appears that the USCIS either has or is planning to have a number of workers who actually work from home on petitions. Perhaps it's sitting in the back of the person's car who approved it, or their 2-year old ate it??? I know when I was calling the NVC about a status, they kept telling me it's not within the timeframe that approved petitions are supposed to arrive yet. They said 2-4 weeks, and one person said it can take as long as 3 months. Perhaps it's an Administrative Review thing. But the good news, at least on my end, is that NVC sent ours out on June 26. I got a letter from them today telling me the case would be forwarded. Might be a good idea to call the NVC and/or the USCIS and see what the holdup is, even if it has been 4 weeks.

  6. Ok, first question.................what does it mean by being "touched" on here?

Second..................any news on CSC and their delays? Have they resolved it? I am still waiting as I know the rest are too for the NOA2. I am in my 93rd day (I think-need to check) Anyway, someone give some feedback on this and thanks. :help:

    1) "Touch" means that the date that some portion of your petition was last touched by someone at USCIS. This is indicated on the CRIS web site, and only the date changes until the status changes (Approval Notice Sent, RFE, Denial Notice Sent, etc.).

    2) You're probably in the 100-day stack like we were...hang in there. We had one touch on June 6th and at 1:37am or so my time (NC also!!) early the next morning, the status changed to "Approval Notice Sent." Maybe we got put in the cleaning lady's stack of petitions...1:37am here is 10:37pm there! And I'm reasonably certain that it's a 9-5 operation. As far as your delays question, is this regarding notice production/delivery? I know that we got approved on 6/6/07 and I received our NOA2 in the mail from CSC on 6/11/07, so there was no delay in ours, at least, outside of the 100 days they sat on it while I watched other VJers who submitted in mid-March get approved weeks before we even got a touch!!

  7. Good Day Everyone,

I want to submit my K1 petition, i have over 1 inch of yahoo messenger chat, what would be the best way, to send copy of chats, being over a inch of paper work. Or should I just cut that in half?

Pick 4 or 5 of the best and include that, anymore is overkill. Also chats are more useful at the interview rather than the K-1 petition. The petition is concerned only with the evidence of your last meeting.

Ok, but you said, piick 4 or 5, what do u mean? 4-5 sheets of paper with chats, and also, when i do submit the yahoo chats for the interview, should i send that packet of over a inch of paper work showing our chats?

Chats are very low quality evidence don't rely on them to substantiate your case.....

My fiancee and I have 345 archived chats which I have added as Posts in an Outlook folder specifically for communications from Jacki. I have added nothing to this archive since submission of the K1, but the chats are still saved on my PC and on my other PC that crashed back in March. All of our 3000+ emails are in other folders. I read some responses to a post I submitted about printing emails for the interview and the folks that responded just said pick only a few e-mails. I agree that chats are low-quality proof. You may know via webcam that you know who you were talking to, but the government doesn't know that. And at least in the Philippines, electronic documents or electronic proof are not permitted to be brought inside the building. I asked about that, too, because it would have saved many trees, and I personally do not want my fiancee carrying 5000 sheets of paper all by her ownsome in to an interview where they won't look at probably more than a few sheets of paper not related to the forms they are looking for. Others suggested that by wanting to send every communication we've had that that might seem to the consular officer that we have a weak case which we are trying to bolster by mounds and mounds of paper. I can see that argument, too. Anyway, all that said, here's what I did with our petition. I randomly chose about 30 emails to submit with the paperwork, then I narrowed that down to about 10, mostly short one-pagers. I started from the very first e-mail Jacki sent me, continued with a later response from me, and then followed with others over time up until around the time my Dad passed away (16 days before I submitted the paperwork). I included ZERO chats, despite having 345 in the log. I did include voice chat logs (date, time, length) from Yahoo, which I took multiple screen captures of and pieced together into one long image that I then imported into MS Word, and printed as a regular document (4pgs). We didn't phone each other at all where I had any records yet, so this was our only voice contact outside of being together in person twice (now three times). I did include copies of cards and letters we've sent 9with envelopes, where available), again going from around the very first until the present. Those are very good proofs of ongoing relationship. And an engagement ring receipt certainly does not hurt one's case. In my photos section, I put 14 photos of us together and with her family...and put one in of us on our engagement night. So anyway, all that said, the USCIS needs to see that 1) you have a genuine ongoing fiancé/e relationship and 2) you've met in person and you love each other. Look through your case file as you've assembled it already. If you feel, after reviewing it, that you might not have proven those two points, add more proof, but don't overdo it. And remember, you have to prove this to someone who knows neither of you...put yourself in a courtroom situation...if, after the judge or jury reviews the evidence you've submitted, would they find you guilty on both counts? And don't forget the IMBRA requirements and if either of you have been married before, make sure you submit evidence that meets those requirements. Hope this helps.

  8. Intersting what NVC will bring for us next week? :innocent:

By the way I read in one topic here that you can't check your case status via NVC automated voice system as it never says if they recieve your case. Is it true or not? We still call to NVC everyday and check our status via NVC automates voice systems..

I129F applications usually go through the NVC rather quickly, and according to others here on VJ, this is the main reason why you must choose the option to speak to an associate (1 for English, then either option 2 or 5) for an update. I have found that this can be very difficult to get through, even after their recommended call times of after 6pm! What I did to stop from getting bumped out of the system due to too many calls waiting on operators was to wait for a voice to start speaking (the automated menu #######)...immediately hit 1, then immediately hit either 2 or 5. One out of three times, after calling in rapid succession, I was able to get put in the queue of callers waiting on an operator without getting kicked out and told to call back later. A 5-10 minute wait on hold, then someone, usually friendly, would answer and ask for receipt number and check their system for mine and Jacki's case.

  9. maybe they were holding the box with your apps so they could mine on top? Sorry for the delay! That has to be the reason. :jest:

Tho I still believe by sending in our petitions we've all signed up to take part in a sick and twisted psychological experiment to develop new torture techniques.

But you know what, if you truly love and appreciate your fiancee or wife, as I do my fiancee, it really is worth the wait, the torture, the pain of additional goodbyes, and all that goes with that. Do I wish we could be together sooner? A most definite yes. Is there anything I can do about it outside of moving to a state where VSC applies to? No. I find that prayer works the best. I started getting worried when I saw other VJers who filed weeks after us with CSC getting their NOA2's in mid-May. We hadn't gotten any touches on our paperwork since 3/9, and the three month mark was quickly approaching. I started praying to God to help to get our NOA2 approved, and harder than I'd prayed in the weeks preceeding, and the prayer was answered within a couple of days. Just like I prayed for "the one" to be shown to me in God's time, not in my own time (as I had been wanting for years before). Two days later, Jacki came into my life. Did I know she was "the one" when I first met her online? No. But it all started with a meeting, just like all the rest of our relationships did. Anyway, sorry for my side-narrative...continuing, anyway, of course on 6/6-6/7 that all changed, and rather quickly. One touch (at least the way it's reported on USCIS web site) and we were approved. And like I said before, I probably spoke to half of the PM Shift call center agents at NVC after NOA2. And the girl I spoke with at NVC on Tuesday, Polly, she was very friendly...at the end of the call, she even wished us "the best of luck to you two." That's the first time I've been impressed by anyone in this government process!

  10. I am termed a March filer even though mailed ours on Feb. 26. Overnighted it to Texas, who forwarded it to CSC...grrr. Got NOA1 on 3/6, and I sat through the end of May watching other people who filed as late as March 15th get their NOA2's like on March 18th and such and such...we didn't get ours till 6/6; 6/6 was our first and only touch shown on USCIS web site, but next morning I looked on my PDA Internet app (coz my PC Internet was down due to a cut cable across the street...grrr#2) and it had "Approval Notice Sent." Needless to say, I, a male, a straight male, cried literal tears of joy and thankfulness at that!!! NVC got our case on 6/22, and sent it out to Manila on 6/26...and the waiting continues. I hated reading the new mailing location for folks in North Carolina after July 30 or so this year...it will be VSC coz it's always been closer, even closer than TSC was, much less CSC. Maybe the rest of our paperwork (AOS and such) can go through faster now that we'd be going through VSC for some of that. Anyway...that's my story so far.

To respond to some folks who got their NOA2 on June 18th, if you call the NVC, they will tell you it can take anywhere from 2 to 4 weeks, and "up to 90 days" to receive approved cases. So please be patient. We got our NOA2 on 6/6. I wasn't patient and I know I bugged NVC a LOT by calling in almost daily for updates. Eventually, I just said "I'll let them do what they have to do at USCIS and NVC." Then on Tuesday, I decided to call again. When the girl hesitated after I gave my case number, I knew there might be good news. She then asked for Beneficiary Name, DOB, and such. I guess this is to confirm that I am an interested party in this case. Then she said, "Well, I have good news for you. It looks like it was sent out to the embassy in today's mail." And she gave me our case number. I had to ask her when the case was received by them, which was last Friday. So it really went through NVC really fast!! I'm gonna call the Dept. of State next Wednesday and see if the Manila Embassy has gotten our petition yet. I wouldn't expect great news in that first call, but some folks have had their stuff received by Manila in a week's time. Just be patient and find things to work on while you're waiting for your approved petitions to go through the red tape at USCIS. Once it hits DOS, it'll go faster. I've been working on my fiancee's copy of our petition and receipts and such, and on the forms of support she needs for her interview. Hope this helps somewhat.

  12. Congratulations!!!

I hope my fiancee doesn't have to "run downstairs" at her condo building...she'd be going down 15 flights and I'd hate for her to fall that far!!! I bet she could do it in less than a minute if she knew it was her Packet 4. Ours just left the NVC for Manila on Tuesday, so we have a little bit longer to wait still for Packet 4! Haha. Best of luck to you, and congratz.

  13. you dont need to send every single email all you have to do is prove a relationship try and relax but i do know how u feel my fiance interview is august 4th and i am nervous too hope all goes well

I think I'll just print the 182 pages table view with the Autopreview of each e-mail and maybe send a few pages of that. It hardly gives any of the true content of the e-mail by doing that, but it'll at least give consular officer a feel for how much we communicate on a daily basis. I've known her for 538 days, and we've each 1500+ e-mails to the other, so 3 emails per day average is pretty good. I wish Jacki would get her interview soon. We just got our NOA2 on June 6, and I've been bugging the NVC many times per week since then to see if they have our petition on file yet. Nada yet. I hope she gets her interview before January!! I'm just working ahead and trying to get all this paperwork for us organized! It can be an agonizing, tedious, arduous task for a packrat like me who saves EVERYTHING. I even learned to demand an OR from restaurants and vendors, so now with this last trip, I have a receipt for just about everything we did or went to. I even have the old checked luggage name tags that you write up at the airport (but am not including that as it's irrelevant and shows no date)!!!

  14. Hello,

I was in sort of the same situation. This si how aI solved it. I went to my in box, and put the screen in view mode so I could see the e-mail that was hi-lighted on the right. But on the left it showed the e-mail, date and whom it was from.

I printed that. It was still 20-30 sheets, but each page had a sample of an e-mail. There they can see a date, whom it was from, and a sample.

    Good luck.

    'David

If you're talking about printing all the messages in Table Style withing MS Outlook, I just did that and we're looking at 69 pages of subject lines and dates only. There is no actual email content and I saw no way of printing partial email content that way...

And if Autopreview of emails (first two lines) within each Outlook folder is turned on, we're looking at 182 total pages. Better than 5000, but still.

  16. Due to security issues, they cannot take a CD or any document in electronic form.

Printing all of them out, would be way overkill. Not to mention you would go through a couple trees. For me, going through indonesia, 4 to 5 emails and 4 to 5 chats along with some calling card recipts and phone records was enough. Indonesia as far as i know doesnt deal with as much fraud.

But I think going way overboard can make you look like your overcompensating and covering for something else. Your best bet is to find a dozen or so emails/chats over the entire time period.

thanks for the quick response. I'll probably just add 5 or so more emails between us since February when we submitted our I-129F packet and go with that. Selecting a chat or chats will be difficult, as there are a lot of those, too. I've archived the vast majority of them, thankfully, but going through each of them for "relevant fiancée-related content" would prove to be a vast undertaking, too. The good thing is we always say "I love you" at the end of everything, even text messages, because that is very true for both of us. Anyway, thanks much for the tip on "no electronic documents." And I'll elect not to burn up a forest printing everything! Best wishes-

  17. I've been reading some forum areas and I just wanted to ask a simple question about paperwork to send to my fiancée in the Philippines for her interview. I already have three four-part binders full of receipts and other paperwork, and I already have to use a fourth binder, it looks like. I will not be able to attend the interview later this year (hopefully) with my fiancée due to work and financial reasons, so she obviously wouldn't have me to carry all this paperwork for her. My question revolves around e-mails and printing them out for her...between the two of us, we have sent 3713 emails to each other since January 2, 2006, and we've also chatted many mornings/nights, too. I don't know about the rest of you, but assuming the e-mails were to average 1-2 pages in length, how on earth would I survive the tampo from my fiancee if I were to send her 5000 pages of nothing but emails for her to carry all by her ownsome to an interview!? Chats would probably be another 300-800 pages, estimation...sure, I could go through the emails and chats and select the "best" ones, which is kinda what I did with our original submission (I submitted approx. 10 emails), but 3700+ is an awful lot to go through. I know fraud is rampant in the Philippines, but Jacki is a genuine person and I'm sure she'll do fine in her interview...so my question is, should I even bother printing off reams and reams and reams of emails for the interview? Or alternately, I have the capability of converting my entire E-mail achives to a chapter-style PDF file. Would a consular officer be wary of a disc of a huge PDF full of emails? Would they even have a PC handy to open such a PDF? I'd hate to waste trees, especially if they don't even try to read the emails...one CDR seems a lot more practical (and much less heavy). Thoughts anybody???

  18. i am sorry for this...you said her family is best friend with your aunts, well, if your aunts live in the states that means they got you, if not, i think you have to contact an attorney who is professional dealing with denialed petitions...good luck

myaunt lives in india very close to her

Reading the notice text you gave, it appears that the NOA2 (approval) notice expired a few days before the interview. There is a letter in the examples section (http://www.visajourney.com/examples/extend-approval.doc) that should be sent to the USCIS requesting an extension of the approval notice for another 4 months. The letter basically states that you still love each other and continue to desire to pursue marriage when your fiancee arrives in the States. If the 4 month approval expired and was not renewed before the deadline, it could have been a sign to the embassy that you were not pursuing the petition anymore. Remember, the embassy does not know you or your intentions or even the present status of your relationship. They only have what's on paper. I would recommend filling out and submitting the letter, and perhaps calling your congressman/woman, too. Hope this helps.

    David

  19. Am working on post-NOA2 paperwork/packet to send to my fiancée. I must say real quickly that the NVC is VERY difficult to get in to speak with someone about K visa application statuses even after their recommended 6pm call-in times! I spent from 5:30 till 8:10 EDT this evening getting busy signals and/or getting kicked out of the call system due to all the operators being busy. Still no sign of our paperwork at NVC...they keep telling me "it's still a little too early. The average wait is 2-4 weeks." ANYWAY, aside from that, I have three questions about the I-134 Affadavit of Support form, if I may.

    1) For my annual salary, it varies because I'm hourly and overtime can make that more or lack of overtime can make it less...to be safe, I assume I should put last year's wages...but do I put the exact amount of gross income (pre-tax, pre-deductions) or net income?

    2) Since I'm not self-employed, do I still have to submit copies of my Income tax filings at all? It seems from the instructions on the form that I don't.

    3) For Item #11, "I intend or do not intend to make specific contributions...etc.", since I don't plan to specifically just give my fiancée (soon to be wife) money for room and board and food, etc., would I put "Do Not Intend to..." on the form? It is kinda confusing. I mean, yeah, I will furnish room and board and food and all that for her through the house we live in and the food in our cupboard or out in town...but "specific contributions" sounds almost like donations or charity, as if I'm giving her money to live off of. How did some of the post-NOA2ers do theirs? The filled form in the "example forms" does not have a checkmark for either "Do" or "Do Not" intend...etc.

    Thanks.

    David

  20. Thanks, Annette! Glad to hear you finally got it! :)

I got our NOA1 in the mail BEFORE the check was cashed, so I had no way of checking for the case #. Since you've waited a number of weeks now, nearly a full month or so, it probably wouldn't hurt to call CSC for a status. Their customer service telephone number is 800-375-5283. If your package was not organized well, it may have been difficult for them to locate your check. Things settle during shipping, so if your check wasn't paperclipped to your form well, it could have fallen anywhere in the package. I double-paperclipped my check to my I-129F form and then Acco-fastened the whole submission packet with the check purposely under the binder clip so it wouldn't get jogged during shipment.

  21. Ya, they have been bad about sending approval notices out lately. Wait 30 days and if you still haven't gotten it then call and make sure to get it since you'll need it for AOS. You can call NVC at 1-603-334-0700. You MUST speak with a real person, NOT the automated system since K1's aren't entered in. Call early in the morning or after 6 since its usually busy during the day.

My NOA2 from CSC (approval 6/6/07) which I received hard copy of this past Monday will expire in October. My fiancée is in the Philippines and judging from her cousin's timeline, it doesn't look like my fiancée's interview would be until September or early October. Either way, we don't plan on traveling here together until after the New Year, so are we still permitted to use expired NOA2 for AOS process??? Thx. Also, I know this isn't in the right thread, but I have three questions about the I-134 Affadavit of Support.

    1) For my annual salary, it varies because I'm hourly and overtime can make that more or lack of overtime can make it less...do I put the exact amount gross income (pre-tax, deductions) or net income?

    2) Since I'm not self-employed, do I still have to submit copies of my Income tax filings? It seems from the instructions on the form that I don't.

    3) For Item #11, I intend or do not intend to make specific contributions...etc., since I don't plan to specifically just give my fiancée (soon to be wife) money for room and board and food, etc., would I put "Do Not Intend to..." on the form? It is kinda confusing. I mean, yeah, I will furnish room and board and food and all that for her through the house I live in and the food in my cupboard or out in town...but "specific contributions" sounds almost like donations or charity, as if I'm giving her money to live off of. How did some of the post-NOA2ers do theirs?

    Thanks.

  22. I never known the people could have two names. If she has two names, then should fill all of names that she has.

My fiancee is also from the Philippines and she has two first names, as well. On our forms, I kept her name just as she told me it was and put her two first names under "First Name," her middle name (mother's maiden name) for "Middle Name," and finally her last name as her "Last Name." She actually has another middle name that for some reason never made it onto her birth certificate, and we sent a clarification letter signed by her indicating that we colloquially use this name, but it's not a legal portion of her name and thus that additional name was dropped from our official paperwork. Anyway, really and truly, I felt that she should have one first name and two middle names on the forms, but to avoid any point of contention, I kept it as she indicated it needed to be. We just got our NOA2 this week after just one touch since the check was cashed in March, so no problems with having two first names on the forms whatsoever. Sometimes we Americans need to think "outside the box" more often. I learn that every day, and not in a bad way. It's the beauty of having a fiancee that is from a different country. Frankly, I think I'd be bored with an American woman. Didn't realize it until I met Jacki, but I truly believe that now. Best wishes-

  23. Hi there, Byron and I arent Catholics but we still attended the whole day seminar and yeah the waiting period for its release is 10 days, the seminar that we attended to started 8:00-11:00 am, afternoon session 1:00-4:00pm. Somebody pls correct me if Im wrong but to what they told me at the city hall we need to attend those am and pm seminar for our certificate for the completion of our marriage license. Once you got the license its valid for 4 months. We intend to get married here but we changed our plans and didnt use ours anyway cuz of this K1 process. Hope this helps.

Another information correction; VJ won't let me edit my original post. Jacki and her family started attending Christian/Protestant church when she was a little girl, not "right before age 16." Sorry for any confusion.

But to respond to the above reply, if this pre-marriage seminar is intended for Catholics, why are non-Catholics required to do it? And if you don't get legal marriage done in Phils, why is this even required at all? We'd be getting married in a Protestant church here in USA, and we'd have to go through a sort of discussion/counseling here through our church in USA anyway...why have to do TWO seminars/counselings?
