  1. I used my credit card and booked the ticket through continental in my wifes name. . My wife went to manila airport and picked up her e ticket in advance. We didn't have any problems. That was back in 2006.

  2. I am considering hiring this law firm to process my K-1 Fiancee Visa. I live in Florida and my Fiancee is in the Philippines.

    See:

    http://www.visa-fiancee-k1.com/fiancee-visa.html

Any comments good or bad about this lawyer?

Please don't try to tell me to do it myself, I am really seeking specific advise on selecting a lawer this one or another you would recommend.

    TIA

    Good luck to all.

Maybe you could look for a filipine community or club in your area that could hook you up with an immigration lawyer. Beats wasting time sending papers through the mail and talking on the phone. Just an idea.

  3. If you have been having an internet only chat relationship, and your total in person contact with your girl is not very long, please think it over.

Take time to understand that the people in the phils want to come to the usa very badly. Dont just be a tourist when you are in the P.I. Get out and walk and talk and better yet go rent a cheap room with no aircon even for a couple of days. UNDERSTAND that a great many girls will do or say anything to come to the usa.

I live in Cebu. I am an American Citizen. I am probably going to get married in Cebu to my fiance. I will not even consider bringing her to the usa for another 3 years or so... if ever.

Do the research.. she will say and make you feel this couldnt possibly apply to you and her.

take your time.. there is no rush.. Test her attitude. Make her wait. You have time. Spare yourself

the expense and pain of a bad experience. BE EXTREMELY CAUTIOUS AND SLOW TO TRUST.

I see you haven't given up. Good luck to you this time!

Nicole was not a bar girl, she was on vacation with her friends. She was in the neptune bar in subic where she met Dan Smith. She left the bar with him and he dropped her off on the side of the road where the cops found her with a condom hanging from her pants. She was already engaged to an american serviceman. The facts of the case can be found in the link I posted if anyone is interested.

Since the link you posted excluded any contrary reports, and is an activist, not a news site, I thought I should post the following:

In exonerating Smith, the Court of Appeals pointed out that “we disregard the alleged recantation of Nicole” submitted on March 8, 2009, “nor did we open the sealed draft decision penned by retired Justice Agustin Dizon which was attached to the records.”

“Wherefore, on reasonable ground, the accuse Lance Corporal Daniel Smith is hereby acquitted of the crime of rape as alleged in the information. He is ordered released immediately unless held [for another] lawful case,” the decision said.

The Dizon draft decision also acquitted Smith of rape. A copy of the draft was obtained by The Manila Times, which later came out with an exclusive story.

The supposed leak of the Dizon draft is now the subject of a Court of Appeals investigation that was ordered by the Supreme Court.

Nicole recanted her story in a five-page statement executed on March 12, 2009. She also signed on the same a document attesting that she received P100,000 as part of the compensatory damages awarded to her by the Makati court after finding Smith guilty.

Also on March 12, Nicole terminated the services of her counsel, lawyer Evalyn Ursua. A few days later, Nicole’s mother confirmed that her daughter was already in the US and set to marry her American boyfriend

I believe somewhere in the site there was a transcript of the trial unless it was removed.

  6. I spent the past two days at the tampa philfest. There were thousands of fil-am couples there. I couldn't help but notice all the young, beautiful filipinas there. What I did find odd though was that alot of the beautiful young girls average age in thier 20,s, were with old, like in thier 60,s, fat, really ugly american men that were repulsive looking. Some even had an offensive odor as they walked past us. I said to my younger brother why didn't we find something like that, now he is also in his 60,s and he said what would we do with them and I said you have a point there and he is stupider than me. We were only joking since we both have great wives. Well, we came to our own conclusions why these couples were together. I guess it must be love. In all my days though I have never seen men of this age that looked like these dudes with beautiful american girls in thier 20,s. Then again maybe I've lived a sheltered life.

  7. She apparently couldn't leave the filipines with the appeals pending unless she recanted her story and fired her lawyer. . This whole case was a crock of sh** to begin with. The cops found her with her pants on backwards on the side of the road drunk. The Gabriela jumped right on it because he was an american soldier and they wanted the VFA scrapped.

Her lawyer and the judge were trying to make a name for themselves. Soriano, the cab driver tried to testify for the marines but they threatened to charge him with perjury. I've been talking to Dan Smith for 3 years while he's been incarcerated at the embassy. Once he wins his appeal he will be home soon. Her first american boyfriend dumped her so she found another one to petition her. I think she should be charged with perjury for taking 3 years of the mans life but the end result it will work out better for Dan. She recants her story but still takes the 2500 from his attorneys. Good luck to whoever petitioned her.

  8. let me know if you guys comin to Tampa for the phil-fest.

We'll all be there on saturday.. I'm usually standing in line at the beer booth or hanging out on the left side of the stage. White beard, blue hat. All the filipinas in my town will be there.

  9. This is crazy because a friend of mine also has a fiance is Turkey and has is paperwork ready, but doesn't want to file because one of his ex employees filed a sexual contact lawsuit against him. Can a pending litigation in this nature cause a problem with his fiance getting a K1 visa? He hasn't been convicted, so he can still say NO to the criminal act. Even if he did have to say YES later on it wasn't a case against a girlfriend or wife, but an employee. How does this effect his possibility of bringing his fiance over? The case is supposed to go to trial in February.

Should my friend file now and believe that the pending litigation won't effect the outcome and hope that even if he is convicted he would have slid the Visa documents through before the conviction or should he wait until the case has been cleared?

If he gets convicted what is the implications to bringing his fiance over from Turkey?

BTW. He has known his fiance for over 10 years and first meet her when he lived in Turkey, so he didn't contact her through a marriage broker. Does this matter even if he gets convicted?

    David

If I were in this situation I would definitely file now before there is a conviction. Your friends attorney can try to get a continuance so his criminal checks come back clean. Sounds like a good plan to me.

"Lawsuits" never result in "criminal convictions". Only criminal trials of criminal confessions do. Of course, if they are ready to file, by all means, do so.

Your right, I missed that part.

  11. There is another person who I was in contact with going through this process but I haven't heard from him since august. USCIS had sent him for biometrics, evaluations with therapists and for polygraphs at that time.

wow! this is the only posting i have found that actually goes beyond the filing of the petition and the usual "wait" responses. i have personally done my biometrics earlier this year but... if you can let me know who this "person" is i would appreciate it. perhaps his case is further ahead then all of ours and it will be beneficial to know his status. thank you, please respond... D

    I'll Pm you

I just wanted to let you all know I checked on the persons petition this morning and he was approved. So people can be approved who fall under the AWA . This was a case of consensual sex with a minor. (16)

I just rechecked the petition and the one I entered in the uscis site was my brothers petition. The other petition for the sex offender is still pending. Sorry about that.

  14. There's only a couple of guys that are in their 50's and I'd guess they'll want/need to work until they can collect on Social Security. Our company offers no pension.

No one in their 60s? We have many in their 60s... and they started back when there was a defined benefit pension.

But they still won't fvckin leave.

    What the incentive to stay?

** if I know. The ones I have in mind are all in great shape pension-wise... but they insist on staying... we have VPs who've been VPs for 2 decades... #######?!? No wonder no one gets promoted.

Boredom, it's hard for people to retire even with good pensions. Not everyone in ther 60,s plays golf everyday.
