Thanks for the advice - I'm definitely getting everything lined up and will be going to the Family Court tomorrow to get the "original" divorce decree to avoid any issues.  Thank you for the input...

No problem! If there's anything else I can help with, let me know, and I'll do my best to give you advice. I recommend calling NVC periodically to check on the interview date if you haven't heard anything from them yet. It took them about a week for them to say they received our documents. Good luck with everything. It will be over soon enough 😊.

Hi - I'm curious about the divorce decree requirement because my fiancee will be having her interview in Bogota in the coming month or two, and I don't know if the copy I have given her of my divorce decree would be considered "official" - it's the official one I got in the mail from the court, but there's nothing on it to indicate it is a "certified" copy or anything special other than it's the copy from the Court.

Also - how long after you received your NOA2 did you hear from them?  Is there anything you recommend we do immediately while we are waiting for the NVC packet?  Thanks!

Our case was completed in August 15, and we received our interview day on August 31, about 16 days.

Have all your documents in order and wait that is my best advice. It was an unexpected struggle for us to have to resend documents,  and I hope you don't have to go through that  situation.

Hi! I would that you should  go get a new divorce decree with a dry stamp and a wet signature, if you ask for for that in the court,  they will give you that. That was one of the thing that they made us resend.

My wife sent it to me by FedEx without any problem.

  4. Hi everyone,

My wife had her interview on Oct. 2 at the embassy in Bogota, Colombia. They didn't approve her visa but they didn't deny it either. They kept her passport and all of her documents and needed us to find a new joint sponsor and send a certified divorce decree from my previous marriage. Both of those things have already been resubmitted. Can anyone give me an estimate on how long this process might take at the embassy in Bogota? We are now in administrative processing and the time-frames from everyone's experiences seem so variable. We are really anxious about this, so any advice would be greatly appreciated. So far, CEAC shows our case was touched the day after her interview (Oct. 3), but nothing has changed since then. Thank you in advance!

Im a US citizen and FT lauderdale immigration has by far the longest lines if you arrive at the wrong time. I waited for almost 3 hours one time. Miami is a long wait as well sometimes. There is a high volume of people who fly in. I can't speak to what the process is like in Ft. Lauderdale for non-citizens or prospective residents. I don't think they are rude, I just think they are understaffed and have a huge workload. Try flying in during off hours. Most of the Europe flights pour out from 3:00-6:00 so those hours are worst. Mornings usually aren't to bad. Hope this helps.

Yes, God is good! We are praying and trusting that he brings us through this long process and that we finish SOON! So close and yet still waiting. Hoping for CC this week :) Best of luck and prayers to you!

Thanks so much for the info! We will just have to make sure to allow plenty of time in Fort Lauderdale. I appreciate your advice 😊

The secretary of Dr. Roa will send you an email right after you talk on the phone and sends you all info you need, so i really liked that. It said we needed about 7 in total. I do not have my original vaccination records, i took a picture of them before throwing them away haha, hope they'll accept that 😛 about $350.000 for vaccines but subject to change depending how many we need -.-

Thanks! That's good info to know. My wife called and they said they will determine the vaccines she needs based on her exam, so I guess it will be taken care of. We will start gathering the money and getting more passport photos! This information has been so helpful 😁. Thank you for everything again.

    You’re welcome!

And just so you know about Medicals, I wanted to book with Dr. Dennis but the secretary insisted me to book an appointment for blood tests. I called the blood tests clinic and a very rude lady told me it’s a walk in thing. So I called Dennis back again and she wouldn’t take that as an answer..so I went ahead and booked with Dr. Roa, I currently spoke to someone having a physical exam last week with him and all was good and normal. Kinda sad about being unable to book with Dr. Dennis but everything happens for a reason .. ☺️

Thanks so much for the info! I'll make sure my wife knows about this. So do you need two passport pics for the medicals? One for the place where you get blood work and the other for the doctor? What else will you be taking to the medicals? We printed a paper with information such as name, address, etc. My wife doesn't have her vaccination records because they are in Venezuela where she is originally from. I hope the doctor can work with her to get whatever vaccines she needs.

    Congratulations :) !!

That's the one! I got the same email about my Colombian and Australian police certificates..i freaked out.

It's like a reminder. just get a new one the day before the interview.

It took me 7 days to get email with Interview date after approval so you guys should get yours soon!

Oh man! What a relief! Thank you so much. We will make sure she gets an updated one right before the interview. Hopefully we get our interview date soon! We're all starting to see the light at the end of the tunnel thankfully 😁. Thank you for all of your help and advice.

Gracias!!! I'll keep you updated ;)

    Thank you  😘

Hey! So we got case complete yesterday! So excited! But I got an email today that they need a different Colombia police certificate. My wife got hers offline in the only way she knew how to. Do you mind telling me how and where you got your Colombia police certificate? Thank you!!

Hi there. I’ll be interview in Bogota as well. I have a lawyer and she sent documents but no photos etc, but I will at the day of interview.

I’ve received my case number after 9 weeks. 3 days for welcome letter and as soon as I logged in ceac I was able to pay both fees. Ceac went down but our documents have been sent anyways. Today ceac came back up online and I was able to fill out my ds260 however I’m reviewing it with my lawyer to make sure all is safe and sound, also we did not call nvc to inquire when they’ve received our documents, we’ll just let things flow and be positive

    :)

Thank you all for the info! I've been following your case since your interview is in Bogota too 😊. Best of luck to us all during this process!

  11. Hi everyone,

I am excited to update that we received our case number over the phone on July 27,2018, which was exactly 8 weeks from when NVC received our petition. They told me that the numbers were put into the system the day before (July 26). We received our welcome letter via email late last night (July 31 around midnight) and were able to log in this morning and pay the AOS fee and submit the DS-261 form. I called NVC, and the lady reviewed the DS-261 over the phone and said our payment of $120 is pending, and we will receive the next invoice via email when the first payment clears. I have a few questions for you guys:

When is the best time to send our AOS/IV package? My wife will be interviewing in Colombia, which is non-pivot, so we will be mailing the package. Should I wait for both of the payments to clear and after filling out the DS-260 form or send it before then? We are sending it through DHL and it should take around 2 days to arrive to NVC.

Also, did most of you include proof of your relationship (pictures, plane tickets, etc.) in your package as supporting documentation? The lady on the phone said it was not required but to definitely bring it to the interview. Any advice that you guys can provide would be much appreciated! This forum has been invaluable during this process, and I know it will continue to be.

  12. Thanks everyone! It's really helpful to see everyone else's experiences with this. Does anyone have any advice on my question about the joint sponsor for the I-864?

Also, I've been working on getting everything from our joint sponsor for the I-864 form and have a question. She makes above the federal poverty guidelines now but didn't for the past three tax years that I had to include on the form. Is this going to cause a problem, or do they just rely on the salary for the current year?

    Thank you!

  13. Hi everyone,

This is my first post on the site, but I've been reading all of the comments. I am petitioning for my wife who is in Colombia at the moment. Our case was received by the NVC on June 1st, and we are still waiting on the case and invoice numbers. I noticed there are a few others in Colombia, so let me know where you're at in the process. I'm really hoping we get our case number soon, because I will be going to Colombia to visit my wife on July 17 and was really hoping to submit our paper work before I go. Is Colombia pivot or non? From what I've been reading it's non, so I will be mailing all of the documents. Any idea on approximately how long it would take DHL to mail our docs to the US from Colombia?

Also, I've been working on getting everything from our joint sponsor for the I-864 form and have a question. She makes above the federal poverty guidelines now but didn't for the past three tax years that I had to include on the form. Is this going to cause a problem, or do they just rely on the salary for the current year?

Also, what can I expect when sending my docs to the NVC? Will they send instructions on how to put everything in order and submit it or is that kind of up to me like I did for the I-130? Any advice on the process or timing of events would be much appreciated. My wife and I are so anxious to finally be together. Thanks in advance!
