To clarify:  CR-1 vs IR-1 will be determined by the date you enter the US, not the interview date.
Example:  Couple A is married for 1 year, 7 months at the time of the interview.  If the foreign spouse enters the US prior to their 2 year wedding anniversary, she/he will receive a 2 year GC.  However, if the foreign spouse enters the US on or after the 2 year wedding anniversary, she/he will receive a 10 year GC.
    Good Luck

    Hello guys ,
It's been a long time but I just came here to touch base. We had CC on May 23 of this year and got interview on July 12. My husband's visa was approved and we both flew back to the States on August 16. He got his green card within 3 weeks but we didn't get social security card in mail. So we went over to our local SS office and applied for one since apparently the customs officer at the airport didn't file for one. Now that he has both GC and SS, he's applying for drivers lisence  and looking for a job  it has been a long tiring process but the nice people on this website have helped us a lot to get through stressful times. So for those people waiting for CC or an interview I know how frustrating it can be at times, but stay positive and take it one day at a time. The light at the end of tunnel is closer than you think and once you get out of the tunnel, life is beautiful!

Also I would like to specially thank @JBMG for the spreadsheet and keeping everyone updated.

Best of luck to all the VJ family!

    Greetings friends!
I came back to inform you that I have received my visa after a long administrative processing, finally!

I am currently in the United States, where my now spouse and I were finally reunited.

I was placed under administrative processing in late 2016, well before the ds5535 existed. We waited, and waited and waited, until one day, a year later, I was called. They asked to resubmit some documents along with a fresh medical exam, which we promptly did. We were then placed under a little bit more Administrative Processing, three or four months, I had stopped counting the days and months at that point... They then emailed us the ds5535 form. the latter took about 2 months to finish, and the visa was finally issued.

I had honestly never in my life felt more relief and happiness than the day I picked up my passport with the visa printed on it.

tl;dr: ap for 400+ days, ds5535 took 2 months to complete, visa was issued.

I contacted the senator he contacted the embassy and they told him it is still in admin processing and they cannot give a timeline so he said to wait, which I cannot do. I called the NVC and I told them I submitted the DS5535 and I asked them please confirm that you got it and that it is okay they said that according to the last note from the embassy, they have all the documents and they do not need any additional documents.

My conclusion: The case is at the embassy. the embassy has a backlog and admin processing means you have to wait your turn. I email them every other day asking for my case they only replied once. I will continue to do so to check my status, this is our right.

Do not give up I am telling you, you are closer to getting your visa everyday day

I will leave you with this picture...
