I just think all couples should be aware of the differences and advantages/disadvantages of the K-1 and CR-1.  Many people don't realize the difficulties until it's too late.  Every week, we see people who have a great deal of difficulty after entering the US via a K-1 in the areas of Social Security numbers, driver's licenses, being able to travel outside the US and the inability to work for about 6 months......

Wouldn't the interviewer ask the beneficiary why he/she went for CR1 instead of K-1? And I'm sure "Because it's better" isn't a very good answer...

I sent you a private message, can you check it, please?

  3. My fiancé started working around Sept 2017. He is 23 years old.
He currently makes around $11.5/hour, works about 8 hours/day. So his annual salary should probably be around $23,000. We, of course, have exceeded 125% but not by much. He has his paystubs, can get a letter of employment and performance, W2’s and tax returns since September 2017.

Now, my question is, is his employment starting date (around September 2017) a problem for us? We want to file the petition during next month (December 2018)

PS: I'm the beneficiary, he's the petitioner.

Making more money will not negatively affect an affidavit of support.  Changing jobs, in itself, will not have a negative effect.

    I see, thank you.

Changing jobs will not affect your application. Make sure you are making $ above the poverty line and provide proof, that should be ok.

He makes about 5K above the poverty line

This seems a little out of date, but look here:

in addition to police certificate and birth certificate you will need your civil record (I think that is to prove you've never been married).

Ah right. This still needs about 6 months though so I'll do more research and make sure, thank you, you're always very helpful and your help is appreciated, dear. :)

That may be another question you need to ask. I thought the birth certificate and a translation were required at the embassy stage?

Ah, I guess they require birth certificate, police certificate and a couple of other "if" ones like marriage certificate, divorce certificate, court records, etc... But if I haven't committed any crime neither have I been married before, I would only get BC and PC, right?

We were able to get my husband’s Mexican passort changed. It had a wrong letter in his last name the last three passports he had had and he never noticed it. They passed the error on each time. We had to take a birth certificate and they changed it.

I don't think I can get a birth certificate, I'm born in Aleppo. Will research, though. Anyway I don't think this is a major problem for me, if it's Hadajian, Hadajian it is then... :)

Could it be translated from arabic into HADAJIAN? You will need to bring translations of your birth certificates, police certificates, civil certificates and such to the embassy. Make sure they all translate translated the same. If they translate into Hadajian. You are going to have to live with that last name. Additionally he will have to put it that way on the petition.

It's translated to HADJIAN but these people are so stupid, there is no "A" in my last name in Arabic, Google Translate is smarter than them:

There must be a way to change it. How did you get your initial passport? You must have needed an ID and a birth certificate and such. Your passport will NEED to be fixed.

There is no way to fix it unless I can prove with another official document... My last name on my ID is in Arabic, Hadjian is an Armenian last name so Arabic speaking people hardly translate Armenian last names.

Birth certificate? Other ID?  There are ways to prove they misspelt your name and you should fix this asap

Birth certificate is in Arabic and I have no other ID than the Lebanese one which is also in Arabic.
