I received my passport with my Visa this morning just before 10:30 at my home address in Surrey BC. The Canada post tracking said the passport was picked up at the Montreal Consulate about 12:00 p.m. yesterday Jan 31st. It was originally to be delivered on Monday Feb 4th. But this morning the tracking showed it arrived in Richmond BC at 5:40 a.m. and the delivery date changed to today, Feb 1st. For me having it delivered to my home was more convenient and we do not have an immediate date we are moving to the US.

So, it’s really a personal choice or your circumstances to have it delivered to your home or pick it up at the post office. If our plans were to leave for the US right away, we would’ve though picked it up at the post office.

Just received my tracking number by email (at 8:04 a.m. - Pacific Time) to track my passport. I paid the extra $21.00 for home delivery, so we will see how long it takes to get here. I also checked on the Canada Post website and the tracking number isn't recognized yet. Will check later today for progress. 

My interview was on Friday Jan 25th at 9:00 a.m. I have been checking and tracking my passport every day since my interview on the website they give. (Sometimes several times a day and sometimes several times in 1 hour)

From just after the interview and until earlier this morning the status showed Issued and below it said something like, your case is undergoing necessary administrative processing, this could take up to 2 weeks....there was more information but don’t remember it word for word.

So, there was no change for almost a week. I just checked about 1/2 hour ago and it changed to, “ Your Visa is in Final processing. If you have not received it in more than 5 (five) working days, please go to “ then they give a website address. Yeh !!😋this process is almost over. Now just waiting  for the tracking number.

Made It to Montreal and My interview is at 7:30 am today, I am wondering about what I'm going to have to pay today. I believe they say cash etc, but do they accept debit? I know this is last minute, and may have been asked before but I've been tossing and turning all night and now I'm worried as if I need to go to the bank to get the actual cash, I have to go once it's open (as I'm assuming its in USD.)  Any insight is appreciated.  Thanks.

@LLabout, this message is obviously to late as you are either now in your interview or hopefully almost done. You don’t have to pay anything on your interview day. The next Fee is for the Greencard 220.00 after you get your passport back and recommended be paid before entry to the US. You will be given a sheet with information on how to track your passport with your Welcome to the USA sheet if you are approved. Hopefully you are approved today and everything went well.

I'm almost positive it is in the same order as listed in my review, I was wondering my self before my interview. Other reviews from other VJ members helped. When I came off the elevator and with others as well, the security guard mentions you can put your documents in order at 1 of the tables he points to. I saw as well, with others when they arrived he was stressing that it is very important they be in the same order as what is on the laminate sheet. This makes sense so it will be quicker for everyone when the Officer calls you the 1st time to give your documents. With the exception of the Divorce Certificate (I'm not sure exactly where in the list it was-it wasn't applicable for me), here is the Order as I remember: 

1. Laminate sheet with the number and list of documents
2. Original passport 
3. 2 passport photo’s
4. Medical Exam Envelope 
5. Original Birth Certificate 
6. Original Marriage Certificate 
7. Original RCMP Police Certificate 

8. Original Divorce Certificate (if Applicable for you)
9. Original AOS Form (Affidavit of Support) with Original Spouses signature 
10. Latest (2017) Tax Return 

For - 7. Original RCMP Police Certificate, the Officer asked for the New Privacy Act Certificate Effective Sept 10/2018 ( I had 3 Different Certificates )

For - 10. Latest (2017) Tax Return, I provided the 2017 Tax Transcript  

I almost forgot, when I 1st got the the window, after saying good morning, the Officer just put his hand through the space at the bottom of the window and I didn't quite hear what he said. So I just gave him my Passport and he said No the Laminate sheet 1st. As explained in other reviews it helps having them in order before your interview (I did it the night before at the hotel) that way you are more relaxed (if that's possible) while you are waiting.

My Case complete was Nov 9th and received the email confirming my appointment on Dec 17th. In between these 2 dates I was checking the CEAC 2 or 3 times a day. Then on Dec17th I noticed the location changed from At: NVC to At: Montreal. So I called NVC and an Agent confirmed my appointment and the email came shortly after I hung up. (they might tell you it could take a week) 

Yes, I think when you say, "Domicile Intent" thats important because my spouse listed in the letter (I helped him with the letter) what his intentions were to Re-establish Domicile in the US whether documents were included at the NVC stage and also listed what would or could be provided at the Interview stage.    I also referred to the sample letters and other information found in the guide, "vjWiki The Immigration Wiki", also reading a lot of different threads on VJ and other Reviews helped a lot. I couldn't have got through this process without VJ information and help from a lot of VJ members like yourself. VJ is great and I am so glad this part of the process is over. Just waiting for my passport.

Here is the review of my interview. Just so you are prepared the review is very long. It took me awhile to remember every detail. The review is also posted under the Canada US Consulate Reviews. Happy reading.

My interview was January 25/2019 at 9:00 a.m. We stayed at the Marriott hotel which was about a 5 to 10 min walk to the US Consulate, there was a mixture of slush and slippery ice on some of the sidewalks from the recent snowfalls in Montreal, so I think it would normally be quicker walk. I left the hotel at about 8:05 and even though I knew where to go, just to be sure, I asked a hotel employee standing near the door to the hotel for directions to the Consulate. We walked onto the street and he pointed to the building and described where I needed to go. 

I arrived about 8:15, there was no one waiting outside and a nice Security guard opened the door and I said I had an appointment at 9:00 a.m. I am early so I can wait. He closed the door and then spoke to a lady inside with him and opened the door again and said it’s ok to come in because it’s cold outside. (I don’t remember what the temperature was but it was below zero and cold but still not bad for Montreal) The lady asked for my passport only, so I asked you don’t need my Appointment letter and she said no. (Just in case I would still bring it, a different person might ask for it) she then put a sticker on the back of the passport and then gave the passport back. She then gave me a laminated sheet with No 16 on it and explained my documents have to be in the same order that’s what’s listed on the laminate sheet. She also explained where I needed to go after going through Security. 
After security I walked down a flight of stairs and through a big waiting area with a lot of chairs (there was no one in the room when I walked through-it was completely empty which felt kind of weird, I thought everyone must be upstairs and they were) I then pressed the button for the elevator and 2 other persons came as well in the elevator, we all went to the 19th floor. The 2 other persons were applying for passports and they said they came too early and were told to come back. They were surprised when I told them my appointment was at 9:00 and was let in right away at 8:15. 
When we arrived at the 19th floor the guard asked if I was there for an Immigrant Visa I said yes and he said I can put my documents in order at a sit down or stand up counter which he pointed to. He also said when I was done to sit in the waiting area under the sign marked immigrant visas, which he also pointed to. I was finished in about 10 mins, sorting my documents and sat in the waiting area. By that time it was about 8:40. The waiting room was about 3/4 full and they weren’t yet calling numbers yet. Shortly before 9:00 they started calling numbers. Not sure why they were late calling numbers or if that was just normally how it works.  
My number was called about 10:00 or shortly after. You really have listen for you number especially when the waiting area is full, there are children playing and with the vending machines making running sounds it’s hard to hear when they are calling for the numbers. I was helping an older gentleman that was there for an Immigrant Visa as well, he said he had a hearing problem in his left ear and it was hard to hear the numbers when they were called. They were calling numbers for the Immigrant Visas from the left windows 1 to 3 and also calling numbers and names from the right for persons there for passports and other reasons. The gentleman’s number was “8” so every time he heard “8” he thought they were calling him. I clarified for him that when it wasn't his No. they were calling. Also the Security guard helped him as well. Otherwise he was very pleasant to talk to. He was eventually approved and everything went fine for him. 

When I was called at 10:00 I went to window number 2 and the man first asked for: 

1. Laminate sheet with the number and list of documents
2. Then my original passport 
He then stopped taking documents and asked to take my finger prints, left hand then right and then 2 thumbs together.
3. Then the 2 passport photo’s
4. Next the Medical exam envelope 
He then stopped again and opened the Medical envelope put the passport photo’s in a bag and stapled them to the medical report
He said he would be a few minutes while he put together my file. He took the documents I gave him so far to a counter behind him. About 5 mins later he came back to the window and didn’t say anything. So I asked do you need my other documents and he said yes. So I then gave him:  (I waited for him to ask first) 
5. Original Birth Certificate 
6. Original Marriage Certificate 
7. Original Police Certificate 
8. Original AOS Form (Affidavit of Support) with Original Spouses signature 
9. He asked for latest (2017) Tax Return. I said I do not have the 2017 Tax Return but I have the 2017 Tax Transcript. He said that he could take that. I asked the Officer if he needed any Tax Slips and he asked for W2’s. I said I don’t have those but have the Canadian T4 employment slips and a 1099 slip for other US income received and he said he did not need those. 

For all of the above documents I had photocopies but the officer did not ask for any photocopies. For the passport photo’s I had the 2 passport photos that were uploaded to NVC with an Oct/2018 date and also 2 Passport Photo’s that I did not use for the Medical Exam when I went, that was taken with a Dec/2018 date. I asked him which of the 2 he wanted and he said the Dec/2018 date. 
The list asked for the Original Divorce Certificate for yourself if applicable. It wasn’t applicable for me but was for my spouse so I gave my spouse’s Original Divorce Certificate and he said he did not need it but still looked at it and confirmed that this was my first Marriage. 
When he asked for the Original Police Certificate, I said I had 3 Police Certificates obtained on different dates because of the Requirement Changes Effective Sept 10/2018, I obtain all three just in case. He asked have you lived in any other Country other than Canada and I said No. One RCMP Police Certificate was just a name and birthdate search Police Certificate (with a Aug/2018 issue date) the 2nd was with the new Privacy Rules Certificate with a Sept 10/2018 date and the 3rd was with my Picture and finger prints on it with a Oct/2018 date, taken at a Commissionaire’s office. The Officer said he wanted the Privacy Act Police Certificate with a issue date of Sept 10/2018. The last thing they confirmed was my present address where I currently live in Canada and the intending address in the US. I also explained the address given on the DS260 application was not where I was going to live but still a good address to use and was for a very close friend who lives there. I said we have a signed Rental Lease with a different address and he said we can change it at the Border when we cross into the US. He then confirmed that the Original US address given was for a house.

The Officer didn’t seem to personable but he wasn’t rude either. He seemed more to the point and wanted to do everything in order. It took about 15 to 20 mins in total, the 1st time I was called. I don’t remember exactly when I finished, it was just before 10:30. I then sat down and waited to be called for my Interview. 

I waited for my interview for about another hour and noticed about 11:00 some of the persons waiting for an Immigrant Visa that came after me (I think it was all the numbers after 20) were called up 1 by 1 by name to the left windows and were advised they had to come back at 1:00 or in the afternoon. I guess they were running out of time for everyone in the morning. I was praying please don’t call me, I just wanted to get this over with. Up until that time there was only 1 female Officer calling numbers for the Interviews. Then a male voice also started, so then there was 2 Officers and it went more quickly. Also while I was waiting there were 2 groups of families that were ahead of me that took much longer when they were both called for they’re documents and for they’re interviews. 

I was finally called the 2nd time for my Interview about 11:35 and asked to go to window No 8. In the Interview (very similar to other reviews) the lady confirmed who I was, then again scanned my finger prints in the same order (left, right and both thumbs) and while my left hand was on the scanner and holding up my right hand, I took the Oath, swearing an Oath of truth. 
My Interview questions were: 

1. What is the Petitioners name ?   
2. When did you first meet your spouse ?
3. How or where did you meet your spouse ? 
4. Where does your spouse live now ? 
5. What does your spouse do for work ?
6. Your spouse currently works in Canada ? 
7. Do either you or your spouse plan to work when you arrive in the US ? 
8. Tell me about the plans you have made or what you have done to prepare to move to the US.
9. Have you ever stayed in the US for more than 6 months ? 
10. Have you ever had any problems crossing the US border in the past ? 

Between each question she was looking at her computer and acknowledging my answer with a nod then asked the next question. She didn’t ask me any questions about any of the documents I gave at the 1st window but she did quickly look at them all. Also she didn’t ask for any more supplementary documents. She was very quick and I was anticipating her asking for more proof of Domicile in the US. 
With question No 7 - I answered that when I am able to, after I receive my Visa and Social Security No, I will be looking for work and my spouse (US Citizen) has applied for 2 jobs already and heard back from 1 employer to re-apply directly on they’re website and the other Job applied for we haven’t heard back yet. (I had email copies of communications to and from the Employers and spouses resume to show if necessary) Explained that my spouse also will continue looking for a Job upon arrival in the US. I also said we recently signed a Rental Lease for an Apartment in the US. (I also had the Original and a copy of the lease with me)
I also brought the original documents and copies to support Domicile that were originally uploaded to NVC and other documents that were not given to NVC, like the Voters card and Voters record for my spouse, and 1 extra moving estimate, an updated banking summary record showing current balance totals and spouse pay stubs for 4 months. There was possibly more but the Officer did not ask for anything. I wanted to be prepared just in case because in some other interview reviews they were asked for.
I think because we uploaded so much at the NVC including the letter Re- “Steps taken in good faith to Re-establish Domicile in the US no later than the date of the intending immigrants admission”, really helped. In the letter we stated what we were including and what we would have at the Interview. We uploaded to NVC, along with the letter Re-Domicile, a moving estimate, a letter from American Honda to support importing our car, bank statements from 2 Investment accounts in the US, US Bank statement showing opened in Dec/2017 and 2nd US  Bank statement opened approx Aug/2018, all with Canadian address on them. The letter also explained we could provide at interview: notification to end current tenancy in Canada, also intention to end employment in Canada. Also that we would secure a residence in the US and provide a Rental Agreement at time of Interview. As stated above, the Officer did not ask for any, either Original or copy of any other document. I was surprised but relieved at the same time. But the Key was if she did, I had the document to give. So better to be prepared and not need something than not have the document and have your Visa delayed. 

After explaining we recently secured a Rental Lease in the US ( the last question ) she gave back all the Original documents taken but kept the Original AOS, 2017 Tax Transcript with the Medical report and Passport pictures. I was never asked for the Vaccination Record during the 1st or 2nd time I was called. 

She then said Congratulations you are approved and gave me 1 paper that said Welcome to the USA and a 2nd paper with information how to get your passport back and also how to track it. She said when you cross the Border into the US all you have to show is your Passport since all your information is in electronic form. I clarified with the Officer, so you do not need anything else like confirmation that how I registered for my passport to be returned or anything else and she said No we already know and have everything we need. I think I said Thank you 2 or 3 times and gathered everything up and left the Interviewing window area. The whole interview took at the most 15 mins. I was out of there about 11:50.

On my way out while waiting for the elevator to leave, I met the lady ahead of me that had No. 15. She was also approved. Her appointment was also at 9:00 a.m. She said she arrived about 8:00 a.m. and there was about 11 people ahead of her waiting to get in. She said she wished she got there earlier because they were just letting everyone in the order they arrived. I just missed this group of people before I arrived. From other reviews this was not the case, you were let in according to your appointment time not more than 1/2 hour before. I guess it’####### or miss on what happens on the day of your appointment. 

The worst part was the waiting, it was a long morning. Total time I was at the Consulate was about 3 & 1/2 hours. I haven’t yet checked what the status of where my passport is but will either later tonight or tomorrow. We don’t have to leave to go to the US for another few months, so we are fortunate in that respect. So we have more time for preparing to move and everything that comes along with it. I will also give an update when I receive my passport back.  
Good luck to everyone else in they’re interview, when your date comes and if there is any more questions, I will try and answer them. Hope all information in this review helps someone and then in return you can also help the next person by also giving your own review when your time comes as well. For me when I started this whole process (Nov/2017) I was looking for any and all information that would help. I have spent many, many hours preparing and reading. Looking back now, it was all worth it and it sure helped at the interview. There was also many VJ members that helped with my questions. Thank you to everyone and all the best to everyone and they’re future in the USA.

My first guess would be no. The only things I took in were all my documents in a clear file holder, my room and Starbucks card. You go through an airport like security check where you take everything out of your pockets and put them in a tray with your coat and documents. I didn’t have anything else but from other members that have commented here and also another person coming in after me they make you leave your cell phone and other electronics in a tray and they give you a number to pick it up at the door when you leave. I did notice other women had small purses or bags with them in the interview waiting area, as long as it goes through the security scanner it’s up to security what you can bring in. 

Maybe another member here can comment or you could also ask on the Canada Forum. When you get your interview date and your file is sent to the Consulate you could also send the US Consulate an email and ask the Consulate directly. 

I would also suggest you complete a Profile and your Timeline to help when you ask questions. No one knows if you will be going to the Montreal Consulate, what type of Visa you are applying for ( K1, 1R-1/1C-1 ? ) or where in the process you actually are because you don’t have a timeline. 

Had my interview today and I was Approved !! 🙂 Will put a more detailed review later. We are still in Montreal and fly back home tomorrow morning, to Vancouver. I  was especially nervous because of my spouse is living in Canada with me and had to prove Domicile in the US. It worked out fine. ( My spouse is the US Citizen ). If anyone has a specific question in the mean time, please ask. Also I asked for Canada Post delivery to my home will also update everyone as well!

I agree @KN2018, I had my medical exam at Dr Cheema's office in Surrey BC on Jan 2nd, and it was also easier than I thought it would be. The only small negative thing is the medical exam is at Dr. Cheema's office and the Blood/urine test and X-Ray are all at different locations, not to far apart from each other if you are driving but it might be a challenge if you are taking Transit or walking and are from out of town. At the Dr's office they give you the addresses where to go, with the Blood/Urine and X-Ray Requisition and you have to figure out where to go. Life labs where you get Blood/urine test and  West Coast Medical Imaging are normally in the same building but West Coast Medical Imaging is Temporarily re-located for renovations. Here is a summary from the start of making the appointment to when the results were received. I apologize ahead of time if this is long winded, I'd rather give to much details and hope it helps others as well.

On Dec 18th I called for an appointment time and the message said to send a email with my name, Case No, Interview date, phone No and to give what type of Visa Applicant I am. ( I gave I am "Regular Visa Applicant", 1R1 Spousal Visa, spouse of a US Citizen) The return email the next day asked me to provide them with a couple of preferable dates and to refer to an attached document for exam day. (very detailed - about 10 pages-not all applied to me but was worth reading to be prepared) I chose Jan 2nd at 7:00 a.m. and received a returned email confirming the date and time. 

I showed up at 7:00 am at Dr Cheema's office and there were about 3 or 4 women at the reception counter and they were all busy either helping others or working on a current patients information, I was asked to have a seat. There was at least 5 or six other persons before me and 1 was a family of 4. In the attachment to the email it stated all appointments are booked Mon-Fri 7:30 am to 12:00 noon only. Clearly they take start to take appointments before 7:30. I was surprised when 7:00 am was offered and took it which meant hopefully I would be done with everything earlier. It was a smaller office than what I expected but still big enough room for a lot of patients. When I was 1st called up the receptionist asked for my passport, interview letter, vaccination records and asked if I had any additional medical records or taking any medication. I also remember signing some kind of statement, I think it was something to the effect that I was telling the truth about anything I was giving during the appointment. (I don't remember much about this part) The receptionist made copies and gave all documents back. She also confirmed my current address and address in USA (same address indicated on DS-260 and what the Montreal Consulate has) Also in the attachment to the email concerning "Photos", was a statement " Your medical is a part of a new eMedical system for this purpose photo will be taken in our clinic on exam day. I previously already obtained 5 Photos as instructed from the Photo requirement on the NVC website. ( $12.99-for 2 photos X 3 at London Drugs photo dept.) I asked with the receptionist, " So you do not need the 5 Photos that the NVC instructs you to get ? " She said No, we have this new eMedical system and also depending on your file some patients have to provide the 5 Photos. (not sure what she meant by that) Also since the system is new,  just in case there is problems with the eMedical system, you should always bring the 5 photos because they won't know for sure until you arrive for your appointment. All I could think is, what a waste of money but also saw her point as well. We then had a discussion about my Vaccinations and determined that I needed the Tdap booster shot and my Vaccination record was missing 2 dates for the MMR and Chickenpox. I previously got the Flu shot in Oct/2018. Lastly I paid for the cost of the medical exam $350.00 and the Tdap booster shot $45.00  total 395.00. I sat back down and waited to see the doctor. 

When I was called,  the lady asked for me to remove my shoes and measured my height, took my weight asked a few other basic questions and that was it. Asked me to sit on the exam table. (was not asked to remove any clothing at all, which was a relief-made me more comfortable)  A few minutes later  Dr Cheema came in, was very nice and personable. He took my blood pressure, listened to my chest and also my abdomen and upper groin area. (didn't take my temperature though) Then reviewed my chart and confirmed no medications being taken, asked if any history of mental illness, any problems with alcohol and do not smoke, no trouble with the law or no DUI's, no other history major illnesses, then gave me the Tdap booster shot and tested my vision from a letter chart. That was it for the exam part, took 5-10 mins. The doctor said before he left, there is nothing wrong with you and your good. The lady at the beginning then came in and said I should sit in the waiting area for 15 min. to make sure I do not have a bad reaction to the shot. After 15 mins I was called up to reception to say I was OK to go get my Blood/urine tests and X-Ray, as stated above was given the Requisitions. I think it took between an hour and and hour and 15 mins at the Dr's office. (I lost track of time) I was finished with the Blood/urine tests and X-Ray (only took 1 front X-Ray) about an hour later. 

Because my Vaccination record was missing 2 dates for the MMR and Chickenpox, when I went for the blood tests they also tested for Immunity for these as well. The receptionist at the doctors office estimated early the following week for the results to come back. Which meant I couldn't pick up my results Friday Jan 4th (2 days after) I had to wait for an email from Dr Cheema to say my results were ready.

I received an email this past Saturday, Jan 5th saying " we have received your titar test report and you are immune to MMR and Varicella; (Chicken pox)  therefore, your medical report is ready for pick up". I called to confirm if it was OK to come that day to pick up the results (they were open until 2:00 on a Saturday. They said yes. I went to pick up the results and was given a brown envelope that states '" DO NOT OPEN ", all over it, a CD - with X-Ray results and results of the MMR and Chickenpox Immunity test. 

Now just need to finish getting organized for my Interview.

The scheduling of interviews for January/2019 was kind of wonky this time, maybe more interview time slots were opened up. Still extremely happy that I my interview was booked😊, also very happy for everyone else. Hope Nonmart and Beekay are booked soon. Good luck to all that have interviews.

I'm not someone obviously who has had their interview, but just in case you do not get a reply from someone that has had their interview, that yes the letter/email you received (I received the same thing) is what you present at the medical appointment and the Consulate. I remember reading this on another Thread, by another VJ member that asked the same question. I don't think another letter is going to be sent. I am going to look again for this question and answer (for my use also). Will let you know if I find it. If I'm am wrong please, anyone that has had there interview please comment and let us know.  

 My interview is the same date as yours,  Fri Jan 25. If you don't mind me asking what time is your interview ? (its OK if you do not want to give the time) My interview is at 9:00. maybe we will see you there.

OMG ! We also got our interview today !

Priority Date: Nov 17, 2017 

CC Date: Nov 9, 2018

Interview Date: Jan 25, 2019 at 9:00 a.m.

Not expecting anything new I logged onto the CEAC about 1:00 p.m Pacific time, and it no longer said our case was at NVC it said it was in Montreal. I didn't believe it at first by also noticed the flow chart in the middle of the page was little different and it also said the the Montreal Consulate has received our case and it is currently being reviewed. 

I was still thinking was does this mean, it couldn't mean we have an interview and I called (sat on hold for 40 mins) and yes the agent said you have an interview scheduled for Jan 25, 2019 at 9:00 a.m. I couldn't believe it ! I said are you sure ? and he said yes. I said I thought they were finished booking interviews for Jan/2019 ? and he said not that I'm aware of. So, I guess they are still being booked. The agent said you should get an email within a week and then the email came within 5 mins. I'm still very, very surprised !     

 CC Date: November 9th for us. Yes, thank you @MissMyHusband for setting up this Thread.

Hi BChance 😋, 

Obviously I don’t know specifically about your records from Alberta Health but I was born in Edmonton Alberta (currently live in BC) and called Alberta Health 7 months ago In May 2018 and they send me my immunization records. I was born in the early 60’s and my records show different results from 1963 to about 1975. At first when I called the lady said she couldn’t find anything. She asked me several questions about me, my mom, different names that I might have used, where I might have lived and couldn’t find anything. Then she asked my birthdate and she said that’s why I can’t find anything, she had to request a search for my records from micro-film or micro-fiche (don’t remember which she said). I guess since they are older records they wouldn’t have a result doing a normal computer search and the information wasn’t transferred to a computer system back at that time. I have a letter dated May 8/2018 with my records and I think it took under 2 weeks to get the information.

So, I don’t know if this information helps you but it might be worth a try to call again and ask. (Phone number in letter to call is: 780-4137985). Good luck with what ever you decide to do.
