Not true. If they say they're visiting their fiancé, that is the truth.

If the CBP officer asks if they plan on getting married, then they need to say yes. But it's not a lie not to say upfront that the reason for visiting is marriage since it is not the only reason.

I did exactly that last summer. I said I was visiting my fiancé, wasn't asked more, got married in the US, went home and filled for CR1. Went back for Christmas and had no problem being admitted with the petition pending and saying I was visiting my husband.

Now obviously, there's not guarantee you'll be admitted in the first place, depends on CBP and if they have no doubt that you'll go back home.

Like I said, she need to tell the truth. In my example if she said she's touring instead, then it's falsification. Depends on the CBP officer. As I have said, in my case our lawyer decided against it & has also recommended I dont travel to the US while my case was being processed, my husband did the travelling. That was all our precautionary measures. It is not mandatory. We just want a smooth processing.

Thank you Ontarkie...would I need to tell them at the border that I was intending to marry while I was there or would that just open a big can of worms?

Our lawyer decided against me coming in to the US with the intention of marrying while on a tourist visa. The very reason what you have asked "to say or not to say during CBP questioning" Our lawyer advised that if you have the intention of marrying & you told the CBP that youre only visiting a friend or touring, it is classified as falsification. Geowrian is right, you would have to be honest when asked but in my opinion, apply for a K1 visa, & once you get the visa, you have 90 days to get married in the US. Consult an immigration lawyer before taking any actions.

There is a thread going.     And the visa was issued last  Thursday

Thanks Hank! This is reassuring. I did check my status a few hours ago, it says "ready."  I guess I'll check back in a day or two. I did register online for the delivery address and I also have called the call cemtre for verification of my registered address. So I guess I have that covered.

  4. Hi, I know this is outdated but I too am a bit worried I left the USEM in a haste lol. The CO said I am approved , informed me visa will take 1 to 2 weeks to issue/deliver, then gave me a paper with the number of the call centre to register my delivery address. I told the CO I already registered online & was about to give her my confirmation transaction then she said to call to verify. Then I thanked her & left.

I  am kinda worried I didnt go to the releasing window but the CO didn't tell me to go to the window.

I don't know if they changed the procedure because we weren't given numbers anymore, no queue numbers on the screen. We were made to line up instead.

So I went to the USEM website & it said "If your visa has been approved, you will be informed how and when your passport and visa will be returned to you.  Carefully review After the Interview on usvisas.state.gov to learn what to do when you receive your visa, entering the United States, paying the USCIS Immigrant Fee, and other important information." then this one:

"For applicants who were refused visa issuance under Section 221(g) of the Immigration and Nationality Act (INA) for lack of civil documents from the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA, formerly NSO), please follow the instructions below:

After your interview, the PSA Form will be given at the releasing window to those who were refused under 221(g) of the INA for lack of civil documents."

I am just guessing they send applicants to the releasing window if they are u decided?

I am going crazy here lol, for fear I left way too early!

Hi, I need some advise. So i've been reading yhe forums here and id like to get your opinion on my case. Im under IR1 petition, i had my medical last may 3, everything was okay until I admitted i tried MJ 3yrs back. Im only 26yrs old. The doctor asked me if i tried it like more than 10X i said i cant remember, then she said that at least your honest she told me that she will refer mo to a psychiatrist i said okay, my evaluation will be on the 22nd. So the question is do you think its the for me? Please help 😿 I know I asked some peeps here and thank you for your respjnse. If anyone who had the same experiences can share what happened it woulf really help me have a peace of mind. Thank you!

I can't tell you what will be the outcome but apparently when you admit you did MJ, they will send you to a psychiatric evaluation. I had my medical last April & one of the persons lining up with us also was sent for psychiatric evaluation because she said she did MJ in high school. So it may be a standard procedure?

There are no real issues.  Request the PSA CENOMAR - it is required.  If your marriage has been recorded by PSA they will issue the CEMAR instead.  Do bring a copy of your SG marriage certificate (in English) .. you will be fine.

    Complete all 5 sections here :  https://ph.usembassy.gov/visas/immigrant-visas/fiancee-visa/the-interview/

There is some helpful info here also:  http://www.visaconnection-philippines.com/k-1-visa-application.html

thank you Hank! Yes I have the cenomar updated. It does say I am still single though since the report is still not in their system.

You really helped me a lot. Thanks again

You  are completing the interview in Singapore?

For the embassy in Manila the requirement is for a CENOMAR (and I believe SG will want the same), you need to submit a request to PSA for a CENOMAR, if your marriage was recorded at PSA they would issue a CEMAR (Certificate of Marriage).  In your case you will get the CENOMAR,  so you will, also, need to provide a copy of you marriage certificate (In English) from Singapore.

To get your marriage recorded in the Philippines you must complete ROM through the Philippine consulate representing the location where you were married.   This is not required, but you can't get your passport in your married name without completing this.

    Hi Hank

Thank you for the reply. Yes I am interviewing in Manila. I did lodge a report of marriage in our embassy here in SG. I have the original copy of the receipt received by the Phil Embassy. I am still trying to get a PSA issued authentication of the report just to make sure if the USEM asks for it (although in the checklist, it says for Phil marriages only), I will have the document.

But it's reassuring to know that my SG MC is sufficient.

  8. Hi All

I have a question regarding the certificate of marriage.  I am filipina residing and working in Singapore. We got married here in 2016 but our lawyer told us we should file our petition in the Philippines.

Now I have received an email from the USEM that I need  PSA marriage certificate but unfortunately, the PSA has not converted the marriages from 2016 into their system and would require a manual search which would take half a month and my interview is scheduled this Tuesday.

Now in the USEM checklist, the marriage certificate asked was "For Philippine marriages" should be PSA issued. My MC is Singapore registered but I do have the report of marriage receipt from the Philippine Embassy SG on hand, all original copies. I also asked for a verification search in the SG Registry to prove that a marriage between us did happen in 2016 and that our names appear in the SG civil registry. It is a bit conflicting that the email asked for a PSA issued, but in the checklist, it says it is only for Philippine marriages.

Is there anyone here with the same situation?

Our lawyer in NYC said that the email may be automated and listed the documents without taking in consideration that I am not residing in the Philippines or married in the Philippines. I am just still worried about this.
