  1. Actually I misunderstood that the applicant had entered as married. Since he was registered as single then the safest route should be as single, moving forward even if it takes years to later bring the wife.
  2. All the answers are actually wrong here. My relative had the same situation; married religiously, had a big ceremony, and all the other fun stuff, but never thought they needed a marriage certificate from the government. However, when registering for the DV lottery they entered as married since they didn't feel they were singles. They had all the proofs that their marriage was genuine accept for the gov marriage certificate. They even have a child since their marriage. However, the CO denied their visa saying they were registered as officially married before the selection and that the marriage certificate was received after they were selected. I am not sure how other people with similar situation got their visas. And I am not sure if the applicant can now submit DS-260 as single since they had entered as married before and submitting as married will create issues either.
  3. Hi, I understand your concern and desire to keep both the interviews just in case one fails. I just want to let you know that my relative is also a 2022 DV winner and still hasn't heard back from KCC even though their CN is in the early 2300s, even though the visa bulleting shows 27000 is current. So, it may take a while before KKC sends interview notification for the 24000s. Just my two cents. Maybe KCC reaches out to the winners differently, I am not sure about that though.
  4. Oh wow, yours is really a low number. Hopefully this month we all will hear from KCC.
  5. Hi, what is your number? Are the DV2022 winners now stuck because of the DoS processing all the cancelled visas during the Covid-19 pandemic?
  6. Hey, how is everything going on with the DV process? My relative's number is in the 2300s and still no email from KCC. Are you saying, from Dec 9th, KCC will not ask for documents anymore but will send an interview letter directly?
  7. Ok, if the date of marriage is all it matters, not the date of issuance, then that is good. They are from Kazakhstan and are Muslim. What is more important about marriage there is the religions marriage (an imam recites prayers) and traditional marriage (wedding ceremony). Unfortunately no legal papers. The only proof they have are photos and videos about their wedding. Ok, that sounds scary Yes, symbolically and physically married. Unfortunately the official religious person (imam) doesn't provide papers when they perform marriage prayers for couples. Yes, I agree. Getting documents there are lot more hassle there than it is here in the US. I am not sure about the exact rules in Russia nowadays. I was only familiar with the soviet era rules. In Kazakhstan, and in all of the Central Asian countries, there are lot of people without marriage certificate and like I mentioned above, the more important thing for them is the nikkah portion of the marriage.
  8. Ok, if the marriage certificate issue date is, lets say May 1, 2021, but the couple was traditionally (and religiously) married a few ears back and the DV submission last year was entered as married, would that be the grounds for disqualification?
  9. Hello, One of my relatives was selected for DV 2022 and the only issue we are concerned about her and her family is their marriage certificate and child's birth certificate. The couple was married a few years back and they have a toddler, however they never applied for marriage certificate and child birth certificate. They had wedding and everything but no legal documents to this day. When they filled their dv-2022 application they had registered themselves as married couple. Now, the question is, if they will go ahead and receive their marriage and child's birth certificates, would this have a negative impact on qualifying to their visas as a married couple or it is not going to affect in any way during interview? If it won't effect negatively then is there a chance the KCC/embassy may ask for parental blood test results for the child and/or affidavits from relatives confirming their marriage is genuine? Please kindly share/advise if anyone has a knowledge/experience about this kind of situation. FYI, DS-260 hasn't submitted yet. Thank you!
