  1. Well Recently I got an interview with the B.I investigator and my references getting contacted from them too. The normal procedures are .1 done with B.I (ur case closed) 2 they will send ur info to DoD 3. Dod will call or send you letter to ur unit head usually 1st sergeant or higher thab u go down to meps and set the new date again.

some of u asked if anybody left for the bct w/ green card who were in DEP, yes. multiple states recruits shipped already. In NY state, and in my area, 2 already got their new shipdate.

and abt the citizenship, what i heard is we dont fall into that new policy for the naturalization. one of my friend in guard, he got his citizenship after 3 months when he returned from bct and ait. But I guess it is sure that  they no longer process citizenship while in reception nor bct and ait. ( they do tell ppl to prepare but they are not geting done their process while in the training)

  2. For all Green card holders who enlisted, I got a great news.

I am in NY army National guard and also waiting for my background check to get my ship date since mine was canceled last Oct when they released new memo for Green card holder.

Last week, one of our NCO talked to one of her recruit and  she said there is a number that we could call to see if our background check is done or not and even when it started.

So, explaining myself, I enlisted Aug/17/2017 and 1st ship date Oct/30/2017 which canceled.

I called today, they confirmed me that my background check started first week of December/2017 and said " since your investigation taking place more than 6month, it shouldn't be that long to finish but can't really tell you exact status, because we only know completed or not so call us few weeks later." I know this is not clearing actual our question but it helps i guess.

and I guess every case is difference. my battle buddy who enlisted a week ago than me, his investigation started 1 month later after he signed contract.

Hopefully this helps one of you guys who are waiting like me. number and instructions are below

    OPM Number : 724-794-5612

Step. 1) call this number  2) press 2  3)press 4) once you connected, tell them you are in such military, green card holder waiting for the background check. And they will ask your SSN , Name, DOB and country of birth to confirm your identity and will let you know when it started if it is done, than they will say your is done.

I guess i have to wait like 6 more month comparing my battle buddy but I got little more hope .

    hope this help you guys.

Hey, could you confirm again with your recruiter about this? It would be great if that's the case. I told my recruiter about what you said be he has no idea as always...

that was what i heard from my recruiter and he got that when he went to some meeting but not sure if it was legit info tho.

there are some ppl who enlisted on jan 2018 and also told that DOD is pushing every one of us to send out to BCT before oct. 2018. believe or not but let's have our fingers crossed.

I enlisted in August 2017 and it has been a real mess so far.  I have been given so many ship dates that were all cancelled because my background investigation wasn't complete. I received a call from my recruiter about 10 days ago telling me that my background investigation was adjudicated and I was good to go this March 20th, then called me back literally a couple minutes later informing that I am not shipping and that there are about 20 other GC holders in the region who are also on hold.

I understand that the country is being extra cautious with people joining the military, but my husband and I are getting aggravated with the poor communication.

    Here's my timeline:

    August 2017: Got sworn in

    November 7th 2017: 1st ship date

November 13th: 2nd ship date given (no explanation)

December 20th: 3rd ship date (reason: clearance not completed)

March 20th: 4th ship date (clearance completed, reason: unknown)

Here's is the link to the DoD policy change: https://www.defense.gov/News/Article/Article/1342430/dod-announces-policies-affecting-foreign-nationals-entering-military/

If you were also affected or know more about this, please let us know.

I enlisted Army National guard in August 2017 too.

First of all, I had a choice to go one in May 2017 and it was 2 weeks prior to ship date and MEPS people were arguing over the time period that i can be shipped or not.

Since i had 6 months left on my green card at that point, if i don't choose that may one, i have to extend. so i did extend a year and got sown in august.

After that i got Oct 30 2017 as my ship date and Oct 13 DOD released new policy.. 2 wks prior to my ship date.. and from there till now , i have not received any info about my background check.

Plus, my 10yrs greencard application is not done yet either (applied July 2017).. some guy spoke that this is short wait, i am positive that he does not know what and how this affects to our lives.

I left job because of this and had to go thru difficult situation since I was unemployed for 3 month because of this. thankfully my wife worked so hard to cover my economic absence during that time..

Anyway, only thing that we could do is not losing our hope.. at least our contract time is running. xD And this morning got a phone call from my recruiter saying that he went to DC for some kind of meeting and they brought up this topic.

high ppl mentioned that all enlisted green card holder back ground check are initiated and they are working on make decision to release ship dates for "enlisted green card holder before their back ground check is done"

once they release that memo to all branches, we are good to go. However, who know how it might take to get that memo downed to all local branches.. just seeing a little movement, it might help us a bit.

its been almost a year waiting but when i have negative mind, i imagine myself on uniform. !

Hope we get ship date soon!

  5. Dear All,

I applied for 10 years green card after having 2 years of temp green card by getting married to my wife.

And joined national guard but because of green card policy i could not get in to BCT yet but still in Army status.

So, I filed for 10 years one last July.2017 and recently 04/09/2018 i got the same notice as all of you guys. I even asked to my lawyer, what is going on since it says received at local office.

He was not sure if it was USCIS mistake or not so i called USCIS customer support and had conversation with them about this topic. oh by the way, my file sent to Vermont office and went down to local in Queens

USCIS agents said " This is new procedures that USCIS recently doing" , " Once its reviewed at main office  (like Vermont, California offices etc), they send them out to their local office to finishing up or have an interview at local office if needed.

Therefore, it is good news for all of you guys and myself to see something moved. However, he said every local office has their own phase so he strongly suggested to make infopass account and make an appointment with local office agent directly.

Local agent will explain and show your current status.

Hope I get something soon and hope all of you guys get something soon too!
