You don't have to wait for the consulate to open if you haven't filed yet. File ASAP and get yourself in line. The consulate is the final step in the process. Good luck to you!

My fiance has a friend in CASA, and all I know is that he said the Consulate is open, and has been for 2 weeks.

I think all of us are getting a little stir crazy waiting for some answers from the consulate.

So now I just read an e-mail that says the target date for re-opening is the 31st. There is now telling how truthful that is so we will have to wait and see. Just thought I would let you know what I have heard.

My husband told me the same thing this morning. His friend was called to the consulate to pick up his visa yesterday. Things are moving slowly but surely.

I agree that they probably aren't open to the public yet but they are in the office working so that's a huge step forward. I'm sure they have a boat load of catching up to do.

I just got an email from the Consulate today. It was a reply to the email I sent them on April 17th (the day of my husbands interview). I recieved an out of office reply that day but today it looks as if they are in office. Not the greatest news but more encouraging than we've had this past month.

Does anyone have any idea how the consulate will inform us of our new interview date? My guess is snail mail.

I'm hoping someone can help me. I sent my final paperwork in to NVC form ds-230 and it was recieved by them on Feb 12, 2007. But my husband got an interview date on his K3. They are now asking for us to resubmit all the papers with translations again along with paying $100 for the nonimmigrant paperwork. Seems the K3 moved thru faster but up until he got this letter we were doing the CR1 paperwork. My question is can I or should I go thru with the K3 or should we just wait for the CR1 to be approved? Has anyone else been thru this?
