  1. As of today, USC's are no longer allowed into the Embassy with the visa applicant. Change of policy starting today apparently! Hubby brandished his US Passport and they said NO!! One person managed to slip their wife in to the waiting room, someone spotted her and asked her to leave the building....

Just a warning to the folks with their interviews coming up......

Good thing I didn't rush my trip to London for the interview then!

  2. Does anyone know if you are allowed to take a friend with you into the embassy? My friend is coming to London with me for the day and she doesn't really want to be stuck in London by herself for a few hours while i'm at the interview. Does anyone have any experience with this?

    Thanks

I don't think they are allowed in. I believe you have to be a USC or have an interview appointment. Please correct me if I am wrong anyone.

Neal had his mother with him because they were going to go walking around London afterwards, and they wouldn't let her in the Embassy, so I'm thinking probably not, unfortunately.

  3. APPROVED!!!

Apparently it was pretty easy, although the whole process took about 5 hours. For some reason they still don't have his medical stuff. Neal had to get an extra letter from his doctor and they told him they sent it to Knightsbridge weeks ago, but it never got back to the Embassy?!? So Neal's going to have to ring up and find out where everything is and hopefully it won't be too much longer until he gets his visa. We don't leave until September 18th, so I'm not terribly worried, it's just frustrating!

I'll find out more details from Neal later, he rang me quickly to tell me what happened, but was starving and off to find some grub!

  4. 4 hours to go....

    Longest night EVER.

I am just waiting until Neal wakes up so I can remind him not to forget his passport and appointment letter. I am sure he already has them, he is often more organized than me, but I am on of those paranoid people.

*Goes back to anxiously twiddling her thumbs*

  5. There you go, just to prove how many things I am trying to remember to worry about, I completely forgot.....

Good Luck Neal&Cari. I will be looking out for you tomorrow and really hope you have an easy interview.

Right, now where was I??? Ah yes, worrying.......

Thanks! Haha, don't worry about it. I know my mind seems to be turning in to spaghetti right now. Best of luck to you too!

And many thanks to everyone else!

  6. EDIT: Oooh - and get the vaccinations at your GP prior to the medical to save some cash!

True, though if you are lucky they will be nice at the medical about it and might let you get them done afterwards at your GP. Neal was due for a new tetanus shot this year, but they just marked it as OK on the form and told him to get it whenever he got a chance!

Truth be told, don't be nervous at all for the medical. Neal said they were extremely nice and easygoing about the whole thing.

  7. Well that will still be fun - at lease you can fly back with him!!

Yeah, I'm excited! A little stressed about getting all the wedding things done before, but I'm just a worrywort. :P

I just saw how many typos there were in my previous post. Oops.

Good luck you guys with the wedding and everything!

  8. So I won't make it for the interview, but I booked a trip out to the UK anyway, to help Neal sort everything out/help him transport stuff/provide moral support. Plus I need a vaction! I'll be flying out August 21st, and then coming back with Neal through JFK September 18th!

I'm excited, but I don't think I'll be fully relieved until after the interview. I finally sent my affidavit stuff, and it shoud be arriving in London via DHL right about now, but I'm still paranoid about everything!

  9. We're both from London.

I am surprised how few Londoners there are......

Elmcitymaven, featherb, my hubby(for 10 years anyhow), robinklake's man, mags (kinda), lansbury, luv2teach

    and me!!

    oops! Sorry.

But in the first post you said Bromley, Kent....

Well Bromley is technically a London Borough, i'm another ish like Mags :P

I checked - you're both inside the M25! Technically you are a LOndoner then! Or so I've heard...right?

Neal is in London as well (glorious South London haha).

  10. Neal and I met on a messageboard for a band I used to really like but now only sort of like. Lucky coincidence, he was not a fan but a friend of his convinced him to join the board. They stopped being friends, but Neal stayed on the messageboard and used to talk the silliest rubbish. Every once in a while we'd reply to each other, but nothing more than that. This was back in 2003 or so. He actually got another friend Pete to join the messageboard, and I ended up talking to Pete on MSN before I ever conversed with Neal. I didn't even realize they were friends in real life. I was always greatly amused by Neal and finally he added me to MSN to talk (sometime beginning of 2004). We talked more an more, and by that summer, we were messaging constantly. I began to really like him, but felt rather ashamed of my feelings for someone I knew I'd never meet. Plus, I was convinced he didn't feel the same way about me. Fall of 2004 rolls around, and I am really quite smitten and it's driving me crazy! Especially since he seemed to like me, but essentially told me I was too far away. Finally, in November of 2004, he told me that he loved me and we decided to try a relationship. We were both pretty shy, so didn't even talk on the phone until after that! Then I flew out to meet him on January 1, 2005. Since then, I have lived with him off and on for almost a year, and he has visited me over here six times. He asked me to marry him in August 2005, but we didn't make any concrete plans (I was still in school, so it didin't make sense). I lived with him from June through December of last year, and before I came back to the US, we decided to file for the I-129F.

  11. I was originally planning to attend Neal's interview with him ad bring the affidavit of support and my recent evidence with me, but since the interview is sooner than expected, I'm not sure I'll be able to make it over that early.

I'm going to send all the documents this week, and I want to make sure they get over within a week and that delivery is guaranteed. What's the best, safest, and most economical way of sending these documents over? I am getting quote $120 by FedEx ad $75 by USPS, but are there any other options you would recommend?
