  1. Thanks. It updated to say the case is now at Manila instead of NVC.
  2. I received the email for the interview date and case complete.
  3. cc 11/20/18 Interview date set 12/10/18 Interview 1/7/19 Philippine embassy Manila. Going to update my info for the spreadsheet too.
  4. On the first page of this thread. There is a link to a spreadsheet that memebers here have added their info to. Showing their cc, interview date received, and interview dates.
  5. Looking at the spreadsheet of cc & interview scheduled dates it looks like many people had their interviews scheduled on the second or third week of October and November. This goes against the last week and first week of each month claim that NVC says they schedule on. Anyone have some insight into why this is? From a quick scan it looks like there are actually more interviews scheduled on the second and third weeks of each month than any other time.
  6. I was curious if anyone knew for sure if Nvc visa processing was closed today. Their call center is closed, and their website says passport processing is closed. I didnt see anything about their visa processing.

That is crazy expensive. Can you not use the USPS flat rate international for that?

Haha yes that's what we did the first time. Though I don't think she used FedEx. Converted it cost her around $20 to mail it here. Is FedEx cheaper than that in the Philippines?

    CFO requirements for CR-1 visa

Small update. After many attempts through different methods I finally got the Chicago embassy to answer a phone call. They do require notarized signatures, but they don't require both signatures to be notarized by the same notary. So it is ok for my wife in the Philippines to get her signature notarized there and for me to get my signature notarized here. The requirement I was seeing for the notary to be either one of their "approved" notaries or get a certification for the notary signature doesn't apply to the Report of Marriage form. That requirement applies to some other forms, I don't remember which they were. I hope this may help someone researching the topic later

I think I'm going to reprint two copies of the rom tonight and take them to a notary tomorrow. I found one that will notarize two signatures for less than $10 and they're close by work and open late. I figure for less than $10 I'll be already prepared and know what to do if our current submission gets denied

She isn't subject to the two year home stay requirement. It's printed on her J-1. I appreciate you being thorough with this. Out of curiosity. When you and your wife went to the outreach, was it before she went back to the Philippines? Or did she not go back?

Thank you for all of your input and advice. Yes, they do seem to be the strangest one. On the rom application under the list of requirements they don't mention that the document need to be notarized. All other consulate rom applications I've seen specify the need to notarize under the list of requirements. Despite that, everyone says it does need to be notarized. Their rom application is very decieving Thanks again

I wasn't sure. Ive never had to get anything notarized before. I'll look into it further and see. Have you done this rom process before personally? It seems rediculous that they want the documents notarized, and then they want the notary's signature essentially notarized as well by the county if the notary used isn't one of the handful they recognize. It doesn't make any sense. We can't help but stress over this because if we can't get this rom approved, it sounds like she's stuck in the Philippines for life.

Ok. Thank you. You said if my room gets denied that I could notarize my signature and then send the forms to my wife and have her sign. Wouldn't the notary specify who's signature they were notarizing?
