I know this sounds ridiculous.... but I missed my oath ceremony this week. I was thinking on the following and I would appreciate any advice on it:

1.- Go to my scheduled place and talk to anybody that works there, explain what happened and see if i could be naturalized the same day.

2.- Go to my local USCIS office and seek for help.

3.- Wait for another letter.

Any help is appreciated.

You should be fine... but nonetheless, why don't you make an Infopass appointment to get your passport stamped with the renewal? I tell you,Mexican immigration people are not the smartest cookies in the jar

I don't know how the deal is through plane... but in a car, you just pretty much drive thru... mexican customs people MIGHT look intimidating.. but it's just a bunch of fat dudes eating all the time.

The fact that he holds a master's degree doesn't magically entitle him to know every single aspect of the immigration process.

Thats true but then he was the one that wrote first to let everybody know that he has a Master Degree...

Csoul and the like, stop hating! The issue here is not about having Msc degree or not. I never intended to show off my educational achievement. I was just making a point that USCIS could make a fool out of the best mind. I am fully aware that many among us are PHd holders and more. I never meant to raise my shoulder or blow my triumpet. Please, let's talk about the real issue and leave the non issue alone. God loves everybody.

So I come back from Mexico this weekend... and to avoid the long two hour wait to cross in a car, I decide to cross by foot. As I approach the immigration officer so that he can slide my green card into his computer, i also give him my extension letter (i have not received my 10yr green card). He asks's "What's this?" (in spanish) So i tell him it's just a letter that extends my residence for a year... it allows me work and travel. He stares at it funny, SHRUGS, and he says go ahead.

You should know that because as you have said, you are a Master's degree holder. You should know the difference between a "notice" and a "card".

Had the most wonderful day @ work yesterday... I come home, and it only gets better!

I get my approval notice!!! I am done!!! Woohoo!

My decision date was 5/16... and my new category is IR6!

Hi Maryces21,
I'm sorry to hear that this "mistake" happened to you, and because of this, your case got "denied". How the heck can someone confuse one set of fingerprints code with another set of fingerprints code and not know know about it, and then have the guts to put you in a dangerous immigration situation because of this? Incompentent officers, indeed!

It's not your fault, and you shouldn't have to waste your time, effort, money, etc. in having to deal with this. If I were you, I would also file a formal complaint (through a senator, congresspeson, directly with the USCIS, etc.) regarding your case, making them more aware of this issue so it shouldn't happen to anyone again. This is just plain wrong, and you deserve better treatment than this!

Despite that, I hope that they do get your situation sorted out, and I pray too that you will get your 10yr green card soon, especially more so that you've been waiting for more than 1 year for your approval and have to go through this ordeal.

Good luck with the rest of your immigration journey too. And yes, do keep us updated as to what happens next.

Hi guys:
I just want to give you and update about my case, today they took my fingerprints and everything was OK. But when I gave my letter to the person that take the fingerprints, she asked me if i have been fingerprint there before and i said yes, so she asked me for the letter and when she looked at them she was mad (not with me), she told me that some offices have been sending wrong code on the letters in my first letter a had code # 2 and in this letter i had code #1; and she told me they supposed to sent me code # 3, instead of send me two letters with code # 1 and code # 2. I know it is confusing, so then she explained me this:

CODE # 1 = 10 FINGERS BIOMETRICS

CODE # 2 = RIGHT INDEX FINGERPRINT AND PICTURE

CODE # 3 = ALL OF THE ABOVE

I did not know that, so i never pay attention to the codes i thought they knew it what they were sending. She also told me that they are being doing this mistake lately and it has to stop, they took copies of my notices and gave them to a officer that is gonna contact the office and bring this to their attention. That is making them to loose their time and my time (just for a simple number).

anyway guys, I let you know if they send me my green card soon. I'm praying everything will be all right this time.

Well,

I haven't been able to follow up on this threat... so here's what happened.

I go to the ASC office n while she's taking my fingerprints, i ask her why is she only taking my fingerprints..and not my picture and signature she asked me if i submitted photos along with my application and i told her yes (the "immigration guy" that helped me out said we needed to submit them... so he took passport-style pictures of me.

So she says that those picture i sent problably will go in my greencard... i dun wanna get denied like the person above... any advice?

I got my fingerprints done on 4/30... but there hasn't been any touches on my case. My last touch was on 4/3. I've seen many people with the same thing and get their approval notices without email or touches. I'm @ CSC.

Lol...By the way that costs me an extra $80 (biometrics fee) + $20 (in gas and time to get to my 'non-local' service center). On top of that, I didn't even get to see the photo that they took of me for the card, so gosh knows how that is going to look like afterwards. And yes, I'm still waiting for this 10yr green card, 8+ months later...

The lady taking my picture was nice enough to let me choose the picture i wanted on my card. :P

I know everybody's waiting for either your Biometrics appointment or your new shiny card in the mail.

But how desperate are you?

I think I am pretty bad. I keep looking at my window just to see if the mailman is on his way to drop off my mail! I can't say there's fixed time when my mail arrives... because the mailman shows up different times during the week.

Maybe putting some cookies next to my mailbox everyday will make him come early... cheers!
