Hi everyone i will move soon to NYC and i wanted to evaluate my degree once i get there. i pursued a degree in lab technician (chemistry-biology) in a professional school for 5 yrs in italy. i would like to know if anyone have any exp with it, the costs and if its converted in an associate or bachelor degree? thanks in advance, any response would be so appreciated
Hmm, to bad your not moving to the west coast. My company, mine, could use a tech with chemistry-biology background. That is if you don't mind examining cadavers for suitable use in surgical training and medical research. Any way, if your "foreign" degree from Italy was on my desk I'd consider it a bachelor degree, for whatever that's worth.

I am a business owner and filed AOS for my spouse, no EAD yet.
I asked my lawyer same question, can my spouse help out "volunteer" at the business while waiting for EAD.
My lawyer stated yes, as long as my spouse is not compensated. I replied, we live in a community property State so my spouse is entitled to 50% even without working for compensation...

If you are self employed, your current income is on line 22 of your 2017 tax return.
I agree with that statement as it is found on the form instructions. I am self-employed and filed AOS on Friday. My attorney insisted we use line 37 (adjusted gross income) not line 22 (total income). We argued and I agreed to use line 37. Lawyer stated line 22 always gets RFE and since my line 37 is above the poverty guideline it doesn't matter 22 vs 37.
Now waiting to see if lawyer was correct.

Get married within 90 days. File for AOS whenever. My advice is marry ASAP, file for AOS ASAP. We had all of our AOS paperwork filled out and ready to go before even entering the US. Got SSN, got married, and literally a day after we received the marriage certificate in the mail we sent AOS because we were just ready to go since we had already filled out all the forms.
We sent our AOS packet on Friday (6/1/18) Exactly 3 years from our marriage (Reno) and 22 years, not counting, of living together.

In 2016, I filed my tax return as "married, jointly" and included an application for ITIN for my spouse. Some 3 or 4 months later IRS sent reply back stating original passport must be included with application OR take application to an Authorized Tax Agent. A few months later when my spouse arrived on visitor visa, I found a tax agent listed on IRS site and we took application and passport to the tax account (agent) showed passport and paid $200 bucks. A few months later got ITIN in the mail. A few months later filled 2017 tax return with new ITIN.... We are filing for AOS next week... Good Luck

When you file the ITIN application did you included the applicants passport or copy of passport?
If you use an IRS authorized agent for ITIN they can submit copy of passport, if not an IRS authorized agent for ITIN you need to include the passport.

I have a question about the i-864 Part 5 Sponsor's Household Size
Item Number 3. Enter “1” if you are married. Enter “0” if you are not married.
I'm sponsoring my spouse, if I enter 1 in box #1 and 1 in box #2, what about box #3 it's confusing because if I indicate 1 the household size will be 3 and not 2, so I entered 0 for box #3, as "Make sure you do not count any individual more than once" see below Right?
Part 5. Sponsor’s Household Size
Add together the number of persons for whom you are financially responsible. Some of these persons may not be residing with you. Make sure you do not count any individual more than once. In some cases the same person could fit into two categories. For example, your spouse, whom you would enter in Item Number 3., might also be a lawful permanent resident for whom you have already sponsored using Form I-864 (Item Number 6.). If you included your spouse on Item Number 3., do not include him or her again on Item Number 6.
Item Number 1. Provide the number you entered in Part 3., Item Number 28. If you or someone else is completing Form I-864 on a computer, this box will auto-populate.
Item Number 2. This field is auto-populated to “1.”
Item Number 3. Enter “1” if you are married. Enter “0” if you are not married. -

We filed for an extension on our 2017 tax return on the basis that we will be filing together, but I do not yet have my SSN, and therefore can't actually file.
I filing jointly and my spouse had no SSN at the time.
When I filed my 1040 we included an application for an ITN ( Form W-7 )
The 1040 was filed with the space for my spouses SSN left blank.

My spouse visited me every 4 months for 85 days for the last 4 and half years on ESTA visa waiver program. As long as your mother doesn't Overstay, Work, Lie or Break laws she will be fine.
And I should add, on each visit we visited some great tourist sites like Yellowstone, Mt. Rushmore, New Orleans, Napa Winery, Disney land..... As he arrived as a tourist so we did tourist things on each visit with photos.....

I (USC) decided this week, much to my spouses surprise, to file AOS. He's currently here as a visitor/tourist (WT).
Since I will likely return to this forum from time to time to seek guidance in the weeks to come, I thought it polite to introduce ourselves with a little background. We thank you in advance for any advice on our journey.
My spouse and I met in 1996 and have lived together in Taiwan since my return to the States in 2013. My plan was to stay for a year. However, I came up with a business idea and decided to remain and give it a try.
Thereafter, and for the last 4 and half years, my spouse visited every 4 months for 85 days. Each year I'm thinking the business would fail and we would return to Taiwan together. But the business just kept on growing.
In 2015, as we were driving through Reno en route to visit New Orleans, I asked my partner to marry me. As usual at the end of 85 days my spouse returned to Taiwan and continued visiting twice a year.
Anyway that's the short version of our background.
I spoke with a few different lawyers yesterday, if i give them a few grand, they didn't see a problem with doing the AOS from WT.
Hmm, I can always bring lawyers in when lawyers are really needed. So I decided to do the AOS paperwork on my own... with, i hope, a little advice from experienced forum members.
Once again Thank You All in advance

When I arrived, my U.S. spouse bought a 2002 class a motor home with slid outs and 2 1/2 acres of land outside the city. The total cost was $13,000 and $12 a year for property tax.

Hey guys
does it matter if you type out the forms or fill it out by hand?
I already started and did it by hand..
From what I read....When you type the pdf forms on your pc the bar code on the form updates with info imputed.. This allows clerk to scan bar code and input info into data base....
