  1. Interesting that NVC didn't catch that-- my husband's short form birth certificate was not approved at the NVC level (we didn't know they were asking for a long form at the time), so, we applied for the long form online (Ontario) as he didn't have a long form birth certificate.  We chose the expedite option and tracked the package so that we were available to pick it up straight away and then sent to the NVC.  Maybe try calling the embassy (I'm assuming you're going to MTL?) on Monday first thing and asking them if they would accept a long form birth certificate mailed in after the interview date?  They could conditionally approve him (Administrative Processing) pending receipt of long form.  See what they have to say... I've heard bad stories about rescheduling interview dates... it may set you back a long time, IMHO.

Still waiting for an interview for UK. That’s been over 3 weeks since CC... Have any uk people received interview dates for August yet?

It’s really getting me down. I’ve missed 2 weddings, a funeral and our 1st anniversary because of the length of time the NVC part of the process has taken. It’s ridiculous!

I had fully expected to be living with my husband by now - it’s getting beyond a joke.

    Sorry - rant over

I totally empathize.  It IS a really frustrating process and I can totally relate, as I've missed out on important occassions, too.  Our PD date was back in March 2017!  We recently got our interview date, almost 1.5 years after filing.  Ridiculous.  Hang in there.

Where are you doing the medical? BC needs 5 photos (which they state on their website, www.drcheema.ca) and according to the Consulate page for Montreal on VJ, the Montreal doctor requires 5 as well. Not sure about the ones in Ontario.

You need two passport photos for the interview. Hope that helps! :)

Thanks!!  While I saw on the Dr. in Ontario (Dr. Mascarenhas) that only 1 photo is required... the list from the DOS says 5 for the medical.  And the list for the interview says 2.  So, 7 altogether.  I'm going to have 7 taken, just to be on the safe side.

DS-260 number is from the DS-260 confirmation page that you can saved when submitted the DS-260 form online. This confirmation page is required at interview as well. Hope this helps!!

Thank you!  I printed the confirmation page; it has two bar codes at the bottom of the page.  on the left side is the case number under the bar code; on the right side is the confirmation # under the bar code.  Is the DS-260 number the confirmation #?

I think so too... I saw some people from Brazil got interview dates yesterday and I told my husband about it he said that tomorrow will be Canada-- He thought that they are scheduling interviews in alphabet order... I did not believe him, but now I am thinking that he was right.... :) Congrats to all of us.

Ha!  That's hilarious.  I think he was right, too!  =)

I will definitely post here as soon as we get an interview date.. so far this week I haven't seen a single person for Montreal got an interview. The last I saw about 2 weeks ago was for July 31st. I hope we don't have to wait any long.. since we already been waiting for long enough. I think our entire life is on hold because of this process... :(

I'll post, as well.  I'm going to assume that we won't get an interview before July 31 at this point...  hopefully they Montreal staff aren't taking too many summer vacations?!  They must know how stressful this process is on all of us applicants.

I received CC on May 31st and I'm still waiting for an interview. I believe some other people from Canada around my time are waiting too. My husband called the NVC and they say they are beginning scheduling this week and next for August interviews. Here's hoping we all get interviews soon! :)

I hope so, too!!!  Thank you so much for letting me know what the NVC said.  Very helpful.  Do you know if they schedule interviews in the order of PD date, or, CC date (whichever comes earlier) or visa category type?

My husband traveled to the US twice between the time we received a CC and our interview, both times were non-work related. The first time we didn't have our interview date yet, we had just received our CC a week earlier and he had no issues. The second time we had our interview date and it was just 2 weeks prior to our interview, he got asked a lot of questions because he had just been here less than a monther earlier but once he showed them the interview letter & told them he'd be going back for the interview, they didn't ask anything else and let him through.

So helpful.  Thank you so much for sharing about his experience.

Waiting for interview date, arrived at JFK last night. No issues or questions at all from the border agent. The previous time I arrived in the US (late May) I went to secondary screening.

Thank you so much-- this is very helpful, Herostratus.  I read elsewhere that an interview letter serves as proof that you are returning to your home country, etc. for the interview.

  10. Hello all, stumbled upon this group just now.  We filed the I-130 back in March 7, 2017 (priority date) and just had our cc June 12, 2018.   Currently waiting for interview date in Montreal.  Do you know if interviews are arranged in the order of priority dates?  This process has been so.painfully.slow!  Trying to plan our summer but everything is on "hold" so we don't miss the interview.  Looks like Montreal is now almost booked up for July and now scheduling for August?

Also... we've been strongly advised not to travel to the States during this point in time (in this stage of the process).  Previously, up until now, we've been travelling there with a dossier-- documentation showing current proof of employment, home ownership, etc.  Anyone have experience crossing customs (i.e., travelling to the States for work or pleasure) after case has been closed, with documentation proof of returning to their country while waiting for the interview date?

  11. Hi all,

Do you know generally when one gets the green card and/or when one's final, approved green card status is entered into the government database?  A few days after the interview, or, when one crosses the border to enter the US?  Or at another time, such as in the mail within days or weeks after crossing the border?

    Thanks!

IR  CR1 visas are both spouse visas.. tbe difference being that if the marriage is less than 2 years when the immigrant enters the US, it will be CR, as it is conditional and requires removal of conditions after 2 years, and is then unconditional.

If the marriage is longer than 2 years on entry, the vis is Ir 1, and no removal of conditions is needed.

Your timeline states you bave been married since 2005, so your spouse will be granted the IR 1 on entyr into the US...  But the process, forms etc for the application re the same for IR and CR.

Thanks so much!!  So, spouse is IR 1.

    you are living in Canada?

    you are the USC

if you are living in Canada you can sell and move back to US as you are suppose to have US residency for this CR1

and he can stay with family or hotel or an apartment or house till it is ssold

they say to the immigigant do not sell or make changes ( as the process drags out) no to the USC

if you are living in US and want to sell ,  just notify immigration when you change your address

Hi, Thanks.  I'm not sure I understand and would appreciate further clarification; I'm a US Citizen and my husband is Canadian, and we both reside in Canada.  Does this mean our case is a CR1?  If not, which category (so I can update my VJ profile).
