  1. Hi all,

so finally my parents get their visas after a very long time. Here is my story. I applied for my parents in mid of October 2017. Uscis approved my mom case in May 2018 and dad case in June 2018.  I uploaded their documents in October 2018, and they had an interview in January 2019.

At the time of interview the CO said everything is ok but they need new photos cuz my parents wear glasses in photos. She said just gave me photos and then you will receive your visas in 10/12 business days in Karachi. But after one week my dad received an email of ds 5335 form, which we sent the same day. After that they just updated their cases on Jan 28. I sent them several inquiries but no response. In July, I contacted my senator, she emailed them and got response that they can’t predict that how much time it will take to complete the administrative process, the same reply that everyone gets. Anyways after that my parents cases got started to update. And finally in the end of July they asked for updated medical and photos. My parents sent them both in the end of august. After that they got several updates in September and October.
In November I again started to sent them email but the same reply I got. Their cases are in administrative process and we can’t predict.

On January 17,2020, their case status changed to expiring soon, then I again emailed them on January 22, because their medical will be expired in February  and got reply that they escalated the case to embassy. Jan 29, They received an email and call for re oath and fingerprints on February 4th. And  same day they issued the visa 😊 alhamdulilah

    Hi!

Can you share how long your parents cases were in AP? Did you do anything to speed it up?

I know it's different case by case but I'd like to see if there's anything I can do to help with my mother's case. She's in AP since mid April.

    Thanks!

My parents interview was in January 16,2019. At the end of an interview they said it’s approved but after one week they sent DS 5335 form for my father. We sent it on same day. They updated his case for 2 times right after we sent it backand then no updates. I sent several inquiries about both cases but Islamabad embassy didn’t reply then I involved senator in July 1st week. They responded to the senator that we can’t predict the time for administrative process and sorry for inconvenience. But after that every week both cases were updated and on July 26, I received email for updated medical and photos. I am pregnant with my second baby and I am not feeling well, so my doctor wrote down a letter for Islamabad embassy which I sent to senator with explanation that I don’t have any help here. May be that’s the reason for expedite my parents cases.

  4. I am little bit confused about which courier service is better to send medical and photos to Islamabad embassy?

There are two different locations, people suggested to send an updated medical reports and photos.

    U.S. Visa Services Centre
    Ground Floor
    Shaheen Commercial Complex
    Dr. Zia Uddin Ahmed Road
    Tel: (021) 263-0260 (20 Lines)
    UAN: (021) 111-786-111

    or

    2nd Floor, Emerald Tower,
    G-19, Block 5, Clifton, Karachi.

On the NOA2, they put Benedict also. I called and emailed USCIS many times but they didn't do anything to change it. I called the NVC and they're advice is to do the public inquiry form and attach my son's passport so they can correct the name but everytime I hit submit, it says "invalid date of birth." I put it correctly, dd/month/year. Its just so depressing right now, coz I would be able to pay the AOS and IV now but I dont wanna pay until the first name and street number be corrected.

I think you typed date of birth pattern wrong, it should be month/date/year.

Hi - yes, I just yesterday got my dad's case #s.

Re. your question about passport, see Passport section at https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/us-visas/immigrate/the-immigrant-visa-process/interview/applicant-interview.html

The Affidavit of Support is to be filled by the Petitioner and requires supporting documents from Petitioner. I am sorry, I don't know what form applies to your case, but if you are the Petitioner, then the forms should be filled by you and/or any other joint sponsors.

    Thank you for your help

  7. Hi adar24, did you get your both parents case number?

    Here are my questions:

1.) On the Family Information: Spouse page,

    a) Is your spouse immigrating to the U.S. with you?

Answer for this question is Yes cuz it’s about your Mom. You applied for both parents and obviously both are immigrating to the U.S.

    b) Is your spouse immigrating to the U.S. at a later date to join you?

This is definitely "NO" for our case.

2.) My dad has retired for more than 15 years now. So, we will be filling in RETIRED in Primary Occupation. And we will answer the question "Were you previously employed?" as YES (since he was). However, when answered YES, the next question asks for information on employers fro last 10 years, starting with most recent. Any suggestions on what we should enter here? Should we simply answer with "None-Retired"? Did anyone else have this situation?

I am not sure about this question. I am also trying to find the answer for this question cuz my dad has also Retired for more than 10 years.
