  1. Hi my fellow Canadians. I am here in the US now on my K3 visa and have applied for my employment authorization and my status adjustment.

Back in May I filed for my EI benefits when I left work. Of course I am not receiving any funds as the EI service centre in Canada is waiting to receive my employment authorization here in the states. I am currently receiving EI cards to complete.

My question is when I do receive my employment authorization and send a copy to the EI centre in Canada and start receiving funds, how does this work? For example if I am eligable to receive 50 weeks EI do they start the 50 weeks the date I receive my employment authorization?

Sorry if I am not making any sense.

    Thanks

  2. Hi everyone, I sent my I-693A to Dr. Arnold in Texas to complete as the surgeons here in Louisiana would not complete without a full medical.

When I looked at the copy he sent to me of the I-693A that he completed he put my hep shots A&B as not age appropriate when I had the shots in 2006. (which by the way was on the record of vaccinations I sent him).

Why would he do this when I had the shots already? In my cover letter with my AOS package I explained to them I had the shots (showed them the vaccination record from Canada) and explained that Dr. Aronld did not put the dates in.

Just venting because I am sure they will come back to me saying I needed these shots when I already have them.

    Thanks for listening.

  3. Hi everyone, I am hoping someone can give me some advice.

I am here in the USA on a K3 and am trying to have a cival surgeon that is listed on the website to complete my I693A form. I live in Louisiana and I am unable to get any doctor to do this without doing a complete medical.

I already completed a medical in Feb. 2007 in Canada.

What do I do? I really don't want to do the complete medical all over again.

    Thanks

    Lana

  4. Hi everyone, I am back from Montreal and the interview process was a breeze. Arrived at 7:45am, went through security and was bought upstairs. Paid my fee of $100 US and waited for my name to be called. Finally at 10am my name was called. It was very straight forwarded, I was asked a couple of questions such as what my husband did for a living, why I decided to move to the US and he not to Canada, what he did for a living, how we met, how long we are married. All in all the process was very simple and no problems. Everyone was very friendly and helpful.

After that K3 visa was approved. Received my visa in the mail 5 business days from my interview date.

Point of Entry was Montreal. No problems there, gave them my sealed envelope I received in the mail from the embassy, was bought into the room while the paperwork was being process. Took about 5 min. The Immigration Officer said congratuations welcome to the United States.

So here I am not in the USA, it has been a long time waiting (9 months but finally here)

Good luck to those waiting for their interview, I hope you receive it soon.

  5. Well the time has finally arrive for me to leave to go to the airport to fly to Montreal for my K3 interview for Monday.

I never thought the day would finally arrive. It has been a long journey since Sept 2006.

To all of you waiting for your interview, your day will come, I have been there just waiting, waiting and waiting. But the day will finally arrive.

I will post my visa interview experience when I return.

Thanks to all the VJ members who have answered my questions, I wouldn't know what to do without this website and the help from others.

I am sure I will have more questions when I apply for AOS and EAD.

    Wish me luck!!

  6. If your interview is in Montreal whether applying for a K3 or K1 the consulate will require the orignal approval notice which for your case is the K1 I-129 approval form plus all COPIES of what you had to send to apply for the I-129.

    Good Luck!

    AM I MISSING ANYTHING?????????????

  10. OK here's the story, my interview date is June 18th in Montreal, I should receive my papers a few days after that.

I will be travelling to the US the end of June then apply for adjustment of status and employment authorization.

We just booked a trip to Jamaica for our first anniversary for the end of Aug. Will I be able to travel here? Do I have to apply to be able to do so or would a K3 let me in and out of the country.

    Please help!!!

    Lana

  11. Hi everyone, I am getting all my paperwork ready for my interview date on June 18th but have a couple of qestions.

Sorry if they sound stupid, just want to make sure I have everything in order for my interview.

    1. I am only required to bring 2 passport style photos, Correct???

    2. On the appointment letter, it reads to bring all DS156 forms required in an electronically completed format. I sent these forms with my checklist for package 3, are these the same ones? If they are I already have them signed and dated from when I sent back my package 3, this is OK?

    Any help would be appreciated.

  12. Hi everyone, I have a question that I am hoping someone can help me with.

My K3 visa interview date is June 18th but my K3 approval noticed expired on April 19th.

When I move to the US I have to apply for the Adjustment of Status and on the form it asks my K3 expiry date.

Will the Montreal consulate renew my K3 approval notice?

If not how does this affect me applying for the AOS when it is time to apply?

    Thanks

    Laa

  13. Hi everyone I have some questions that I am hoping someone can help me with.

I am waiting for my interview at the Montreal Consulate. When my K3 visa is approved and I move to the US to be with my husband I am confused on what to do with my pension from work. I will have the option to put my pension in a RRSP in Canada as a locked pension fund. Should I leave my penion in Canada? I am totally confused on what to do here.

Secondly, I am confused on Duel Citizenship. I want to keep my Canadian citizenship but of course live and work in the US. How and when do I this?

I would appreciate any help someone can offer me.

    Thanks
