Am with you 100% you know what I didn’t sleep all night last night as you said time is passing and  kids today will not be kids tomorrow . that hurts a lot my daughter is 03 years and a half she don’t know anything about father tenderness not even my son . Do you think this will effect their life in the future ? when I call them a video call they don’t care about me they don’t even pay attention  .do you think it’s easy for them later to accept me in their life ? I have a lot of questions in my mind but always prefer to make myself busy and not to think in the worst

no man try to stay positive, its very tough but you have to do that for your family and yourself. your kids will always be your kids despite the distance. when they grow up they will understand.

Today am Down , tired and sick I have been waiting for 5 months and 9 days after submitting my DS5535 and still no updates :( . I really need to play with my kids and do funny/ crazy things . My son will be 2 years next week and he don’t know me . My interview date was in my May 2017 My visa was approved in July after submitting all the missing documents but there was no visa number available at that time , after the new fiscal year started in October so visa numbers are available again available they have putted me in AP and asked me to submit DS5535 .The whole waiting  process till now is 10 months and half . I check my status at CEAC more than 10 times a day . My life has stopped just waiting and waiting and waiting and waiting

Another heart melting case... the situation here is very hard since it is involving kids. its also tough on you as a father emotionally....i knowexactly how you feel i am in the same situation with two sad kids that dream daily that their father will surprise them at home, in school....And stay with them ever after....its the least right for them i know...But time is passing and its not happening yet..i pray every day that this nightmare come to an end soon.

I hope that the US officials will find a solution for cases that involve a dad/mom away from their kids, hopefully a faster process for the sake of protecting families from falling apart. I know the importance of the nuclear family in the states and i hope a solution will appear soon.

stay strong my friend you will be with your family soon and i pray for all the readers to get with their loved ones at the earliest.

My friend and her family (husband and two kids) were given the form on Feb 2017 after the interview. Their visa issued this year in February, almost 1 year for AP :(  They have dual citizenship and live in Australia.

1 year!!! OMG... that's a long time... are you sure about that ?! because the form was approved in May 2017. so in Feb 2017 as per my info, it wasnt there yet.

Thanks but I don't believe this.... I'm not in denial but I don't believe this at all. All cases are different

giving back the passport does not mean anything bad. Sometimes, they give back the passport then they will call him and ask for the passport for visa isuance. hope your husband will gt his visa soon. keep faith. do not listen to any negative comments.

    Good Luck.

i have a 5 year old that misses her dad every single day an that is the hardest part we as adults understand an take it day by day but the little ones don't they just miss there other parent that is not with them....every day I pray to god that the status changes but its always the same thing when I open the page AP :(

Same situation here i have a 8 & 12 years old. I am trying to raise them up and teach them via whats app and video calls since 28 months!!! If i did not have kids, it would still be hard but not as much. I pray for all of us to get united with our families soon.

We must hold down the fort a little longer, relief will come soon.

I wish they'd make exceptions for spousal and fiancé visas, because unlike other visa categories, this is not something one can ignore or let happen in the background :(. But... It is what it is.

Hug your loved ones tightly when you see them, or tell them how much you'd want to,  over video chat.

or at least for people that have infants in the US and they are trying to join them for support.

That is too frustrating.. ruined all ur plans..

its very hard for all of us as adults.... But, with kids its a disaster. They are depressed and sad, they are so attached to me. I wish the Immigration authorities would consider such cases. They have been counting the days through my process till the day of the interview (28 months).

Last week after the interview i had to file my DS-5535 and status is AP.  Now, we have to wait again!! But we do not know for how long!!. i have no idea what to tell my kids this time.

Hopefully this nightmare will end soon and we all meet our loved ones.

Administrative processing could mean many things. They could be conducting background checks on you, or they could just be reviewing your application for a couple of days. It's impossible to know.  I guess what I was trying to say is; that you shouldn't worry too much about the Ds5535 form. Hopefully you'll be able to go to your family soon.

understood, thanks. good luck to you as well.

From what I've seen, all AP cases are given a Ds5535, but not all Ds5535 seem to be automatically put on long ap. There were people here who were approved only days after submitting the form. The shortest period I believe was 5 business days--I've also seen 2 and 3 weeks in January. So I don't think the form is a "the new ap" per se.

can you  please explain the above more if possible.  i didnt understand   "the new ap'' under se.

also, i noticed that the DS-5535 date on the top is expired already. i dont understand that either.

    good luck to all.

Hi! So glad we aren't alone!  Yes, they gave him his passport and said they would call to have him bring it back.  Keep us updated when you hear anything!

yes i hope we all get approvals soon, i have a wife and two kids waiting for me its too stressful, please share any information you guys have and i will do the same. i chatted with your fiance at the embassy. we were 4 males waiting for our immigrant visas. at least 3 of us now confirmed that had to file DS5535.

do you have any idea on the waiting times?or how long it takes for approvals? hopefully we all get approval soon and carry on with our lives.
