  1. Question about foreign income and affadivit of support. We are in Taiwan and the last few years my US citizen wife has been the breadwinner. Obviously her income has been earned here in Taiwan. We recently saw on other threads that this income may not count for the affadivit of support? We aren't able to find this on any of the instructions. She owns a home in the US so we may be able to count that as an asset. Would appreciate anyone with recent experience or knows where it specifically says foreign income is excluded! Thanks!

    Congratulations! It's a great feeling!!

Are you looking to come as soon as you can?  Or do you have things to wrap up?

The most important thing is to watch the status for when your visa is shipped. You may have to pick it up at the parcel  service.

You'll get a yellow envelope marked Do Not Open.  Don't open it and guard it with your life.  Don't pack it.  Hand it to customs when you arrive.  A corner is cut, so don't worry about that.  The cut one corner for airport security to see what it is.

Thx!  We plan on leaving together whole family in June 2018 ideally .

  3. I applied Form I-130 and Form I-129F , I'm already married , today I got the notice says on my I -129f :

“On March 3, 2018, we closed your Form I-129F, Petition for Alien Fiancé(e), Receipt Number LINXXXXXXXX, because the applicant or petitioner received a status or benefit through other means.

And my  i130 is still the same says “Case Was Received”

Is it good news , I am guessing my case is being processed?

It looks like your processing center is Nebraska. I believe they are a little bit faster than when I got approved last year. It took me 9 1/2 months. I have a small child too. It sucks but the rest of the process should be a lot faster.

Sorry about that ! We are thinking about requesting something , contacting politics , just hoping they would approve my i130 soon

There is no way to speed up processing of your petition unless you qualify for the expedite criteria

You are within normal processing times, unfortunately the process is slow

    Appreciate your thoughts!

Yes, this it too bad , i have very young children , but there is a chance can't be with them because of my i130  .

I went and was welcomed.  I was glad I went though it probably didn't affect the outcome.

The embassy website said that I couldn't go, but the VJ portal said others had gone.

It's a nerve-wracking time for the your spouse, so decide if you want the chance to see each other and provide moral support.  In some countries you may be required, in others not allowed so review the portal reviews.

Thank you! Because me and my family will probably be apart since my case is going very slow , then they have to go to the us first without me.

You're still within normal processing timelines so there's nothing really to do yet but wait.

Official processing timeline from USCIS: https://egov.uscis.gov/cris/processTimesDisplayInit.do

Averages as available from other VJ members' timelines: http://www.visajourney.com/timeline/irstats.php?cfl=

Current average timeline from I-130 filing to visa in hand: ~12-14 months

While certainly possible, it does seem unlikely that you will make it to the US by the end of June. NVC processing is ~2-3 months (assuming no checklists), then a couple more months for the embassy interview. July-Sept. 2018 seems more likely.

Appreciate your thoughts!  Maybe will try to contact politics.

  8. Hi, it's my first time post , would like to have some ideas on my situation if possible.

    Situation :

living abroad , have children , plan on moving to the US in June 2018 , applied i130 in July 2017 and received , been waiting until now and still not being processed . Seems very slow and discouraged , it would affect our marriage if we can't move on what we have planned to be in the US in June 2018.

    Any opinions would be appreciated!
