  1. Hello! My interview is scheduled for this Thursday at Montreal. On the US government website it states that

"- A signed Affidavit of Support from your petitioner and any additional financial sponsors who submitted a Form I-864 on behalf of your visa application.  Applicants may bring photocopies and scanned versions of signed Forms I-864 and associated documents. (Please note that the form must still be signed; typed names and electronic signatures will not be accepted.)"

However, the email I received from the NVC stated "-You submitted forms and supporting documents to the NVC in electronic form. You must present the original forms and documents for review by the consular officer during your interview."

The problem is I have no idea where the originals are unfortunately and now only have the scanned copies with the signatures, the ones i submitted online. I am super nervous! Do you think this is enough? The gov website vs the email I received from the NVC is a bit contradictory and confusing so I'm freaking out. If anyone can help or has any knowledge on the matter, please let me know!

  2. Hello everyone!

This waiting process is killing me :( So I’m planning to visit hubby in two weeks and wanted to ask you all if anyone else has traveled to the US yet? I’m coming from Toronto, Canada. I plan to have my return ticket ready. I’m not employed cause I am a student and will be finished with university in about a week. I was planning on bringing proof of my graduation date to show that I intend on returning for my convocation ceremony. I will be staying the US for a little over a month. When the officer asks me who I’m visiting, if I say “family” is that considered a lie? Or should I just say “my husband”? Because based on previous travels, when I’ve said “family” they’ve never inquired further and my husband is my family. What do you guys think?

  3. Hello,

My husband is a USC and I am Canadian. We filed our I-130 late March and also received our NOA1 late march. I am hoping to visit him for a month and am wondering what to expect at the POE. Do I need to have a return ticket? We are not 100% on my return date, hence, we wanted to hold off on buying it but is it safer to have one handy in case they ask? I have visited the States 3 times in the past 6 months (before filing the CR1) and have always experienced extremely quick/easy questioning. The officer usually just asks for the purpose of the travel where I respond by saying 'pleasure' and when he/she follows up by asking 'who are you visiting?' I have always responded by family as we were not legally married until March. Now I am wondering if it is still sufficient to simply say 'family' when asked who I am visiting or if I need to specifically disclose that it is my husband??

Ah sorry my mistake. <- getting the forms mixed up lol 😂 if it’s juct CR-1/IR1 I think you’re super ready! :D the other things to check I think is to make sure there is signature at places that need it. I read some got sent back for missing signatures. All the best!

oh wow! that's good to know. Thank you for the help and all the best to you as well :)

Yeah! Being thankful it wasn’t rejected. Also, we got a case number but email says not to start tracking on website till we receive the NOA1 in mail 😊

    @honeymoon22

wow, that is a lot more than what was in my package. It looks to me like it should be enough, but I’m not doing adjustment of status so maybe someone with experience in that can advise better.

But if a summary is just like a page or two extra, no harm to add it in right?

I'm not doing adjustment of status. I'm just filing the I-130 package for a CR-1 visa. I'm so nervous and just want to be super prepared so that everything runs smoothly haha.

  7. Hello,

I am in the process of completing my I-130 application and was gathering the documents.

I just wanted some advice on what I have so far and if you can recommend things to add.

Also, my husband is a US citizen through his parents. He was born in Kenya and they've lost

his birth certificate so is a copy of the passport (all pages inside of it) sufficient?

    2.  Completed and signed form G-1145.

    3.  Two (2) passport style photos of petitioner.

    4.  Two (2) passport style photos of beneficiary.

    5.  Completed and signed form I-130, petition for spouse

    6.  Completed and signed from I-130a, Supplemental Information for Spouse Beneficiary.

    7.  Copy of petitioner’s passport to establish citizenship.

    8.  Copy of our marriage certificate.

  8. Hello.

My fiance and I had a religious ceremony in Canada this past summer.

We are ready to start our immigration journey and want to apply for the K1 visa as we are not legally married, however, we did have a religious ceremony.

Would it be advisable to take the K1 visa route considering we had a religious ceremony? I've heard that if you have a religious ceremony, COs may deem you

"too married" for the K1 visa which is odd considering we're not legally married.

Should we get legally married and opt for CR1 instead?

I just don't want to waste/invest time in a K1 visa that will fail because of having a religious ceremony. I want to get my SO to America asap.

    Please help. Thank you!
