Oh that lovely USCIS website, wife petitioned for her unmarried son when she got her US citizenship over two years ago now. Processing dates vary anywhere from 2-7 years. Just checked it now, "California Service Center - 47.6 Month(s)", swore it was under three years last month, goal is still five months, national average is 15 months. Have no idea how they come up with the national average, by looking at the service centers, none are anywhere below 15 month, and with California at 47.6 months, the others would have to have negative numbers to reach that posted average.

Want to go nuts, visit the USCIS processing date website. What really drove us nuts was watching that site for I-751 processing, was at Nebraska, and suddenly our dates increased from 2 months to over 15 months, never told us our application was moved to California and Nebraska was no longer processing the I-751. This site is purely optional, check your mailbox or go nuts.

yes it is driving me crazy. I called the number and found out that the 797 is what they sent us on july 26th. It is not for more evidence it is his letter for biometrics apointment. I was panicing cause we never recieved any request. Calling them was more useful then the website.

Biometrics is part of the process, why would you NOT do it? They can request evidence ( RFE ) at any point in time for your case if they need more papers or have missing papers they need you to send.

He did do biometrics on august 30th. The website said the request was made july 26th we never recieved anything. Just the letter for his biometrics.

We just went for biometrics on the 3oth. I was just checking on website and said they had requested info in july. I am very confused. If they wanted more info why would we have gotten biometrics?

We filled out the form, saved the file, and emailed it to my wife's mother recently.

Actually submitting it was a bit of a challenge. Since she can't read english very well, we did it with her over the phone at the same time. We loaded the save file on our computer and she loaded the same file on her computer and we walked her through it. We basically went step by step right to the last page, and then she submitted the form and she printed out the confirmation page. It took a while because my inlaws have no idea how to use anything on their computer except internet explorer and skype.

Unfortunately the form still has some glitches. Some things we noticed was that every time you load the file, the "intended date of travel" would reset so we had to type it in every time. Also even though we didn't have a photo to upload, we were unable to get past the photo page without one. We had to upload a blank JPG file and once it got rejected, we were able to go on to the next page. And lastly the form would occasionally time out on us due to inactivity even though we were actively typing. So save the work to a file often.

she or you will have to upload the picture to the DS-160 form.

There is a pictures tester, which will make sure dimension and resolution etc are as per the standard.

If you fill out form for her, then you can save it on your computer and then forward that file to her via email, which she can use as if she is continuing her application.

She will have to do the last couple steps as that is the confirmation and she will get a printed confirmation page with barcode.

she can not read or write have to see if we can find someone there to help her. I did save the file so that is good.

Working on visitor visa for mother in law. Do have to file this form electronicly?????? It ask for photo she is morocco we are in US how to get picture? I thought could fill out form for her and send to her. Thanks for help greatly appreciated

Congrats on the approval Hicham!

It is a bummer about VSC taking so long. However, I remember at K1 stage it took us CSC people 4-6 months to get an approval, and VSC filers were getting their approvals in two weeks flat!!

i read somewhere not sure where lol that VSC concentraits on K-1 visa's first. That could be why its taking so long.

Ash83, PLEASE do not be afraid! Your 1-year extension letter (NOA1) will be honored even if you get the approval and green card while out of the country.

If they send you a notice for an interview (VERY VERY rare for Removing Conditions), yes, it is usually - if not always - at least two weeks after the notice comes. And you can reschedule it if you need to.

If you have a RFE OF COURSE you will be able to use the I=797C if you are out of the country! The reason they give the extension is so your stay in USA is covered legally during the process.

A lawyer at this stage is just a waste of money and won't do anything for you, so you don't need to consider it!

I was thinking to add the date we actually receive our green cards but... too late now! Anyone out there who got approved but didn't get their card yet? Usually they have been arriving in a week or so!

I did searches but several CSC filers have not posted anything for over a month - so they may have approvals and just not reporting it here! That includes Laurahlover, Magnolia31, danieljoaquin, and Hicham&Darlene.

A few May VSC filers are getting approvals so hopefully some June filers will, too.

One reason you can't access it online until you get your ASC appointment notice is that the appt notice has the number you need to input (it's not the same as the one on the extension letter). I was getting frustrated that I couldn't access the status online because I didn't realize that.

We sent 1-751 package 2 months ago got one year extension letter dated 6/22/09. Waiting for biometrics letter in mail. We never got it. He talked to friend that said it should only take a month. So no he is worried. How long should it take? Who would i call about this? Has anyone had it take 2 months or more to get biometrics letter?

When I traveled with my husband through UK we had an overnight layover (with a 1 year old). He was given a 24 hr transit stamp in his passport. Call the Italian consulate in the US, explain the situation. In the end it's the discretion of the customs official. Also when we have flown through Europe to Morocco, my husband has always had to present his greencard with his passport, both going and leaving. Other posters are right in the sense that holding a GC doesn't mean you have the same status as a USC passport holder, however I believe that most countries are more willing to allow for the transit visa if you are holidng a GC, as there is less "flight" risk....

thanks but what happened is regular flight cancelled we have to take earlier one leaving tomorrow so can not call counsulate cause taking train tonight. i will not fly alitilia again they cancelled flight and did not notify orbitz or me luckily i looked at travel info and saw flight from morocco to italy was not listed. this is only other flight with 14 hour layover. the other flight only had 3 hour wait

H&D, if I'm not mistaken, Da Vinci Airport (Rome) does have in-airport day-rooms (albeit, not as nice as those in Singapore).

to me that means no visa cause i-551 is greencard i think. this is driving me crazy. 1st flight cancelled so we have to leave earlier now have 14 hour layover so got hotel room now not sure if can use it lol

Correct I-551 = Green-card.

That greencard shows that your husband is a lawful permanent resident of the USA and entitled to come back with any kind of current foreign passport with no visa's required. USA DHS liked to play games with my wife with a greencard, but not when traveling with me, then they were nice to her.

You can have a lot more fun in an hotel than at an airport, God, airports are boring, an example of what hell is going to be like. Can't even buy a cup of coffee without putting a second mortgage on your house. Go for it.
