  1. I know what you are saying about putting myself in his shoes. I realize there is no way I can know completely how he feels but I have tried my best to understand. I know how out of place I felt in Morocco and the feeling of just being in another world. I don't think I could have done what he has done; moving away from his family-his everything, friends, food, culture, climate, security, and so on. It took tremendous faith, courage, bravery, strength and trust to uproot himself to leave all he has ever known to be implanted into a place like the US which is every man for himself, weak family bonds, work to eat, bills, responsibility, food, climate, unfamiliar, adjusting to working in the US, money being spent on bills as soon as he is paid, feeling guilt and responsibility to provide for his family in Morocco, being an instant dad and husband, being under the control of immigration and dealing with the stares and looks from the people here because he looks and sounds different. Who wouldn't be susceptible to depression or other health issues? I do not think I could have done it. Just the times I've been in Morocco, I felt so disconnected and glared at and helpless. I can't imagine what that would do to me over the course of 4 years.

Don't get me wrong, I love Morocco. I think it is a beautiful country and I love his family and friends. Even though I didn't know arabic or french, all of us tried very hard to get to know each other and enjoy each other. If I didn't have a daughter, I would move to Morocco with him. My daughter has special needs and the services and care she needs would not be available in Morocco; at least not as readily available or as good as she would have here to help her with skills she will need to be as successful as she can be in life. I can't take that away from her.

Thank you. I do realize that it is ultimately his choice and if he refuses any help, then there is nothing I can do to force him or ask his family to force him. I do realize that I can only do so much.

Thank you. I believe I have found a translator here in Iowa City. I knew VJ would come through!!

I do agree that a lot of his depression is fueled by the long, cold, gray and dreary winter. I have bought Vit D for him to take but he took it for a couple of days, and then said he didn't need it. Very frustrating. He did go to a Dr. a couple of years ago and she told him he was depressed. I was shocked and grateful that she picked up on that and he was open to taking some medicine she prescribed. That one made him so tired all the time. He tried another one and that one took his libido away and that more or less sent him into a panic and made him decide that he won't take any more medicine. I tried explaining that there are many different medicines that he can try, there can be side effects with any medicine, over time the side effects usually go away, or there are always different medicines to keep trying with. I explained that it can take time, it is a matter of seeing what does and doesn't work but eventually, the right one will help and he just needs to be patient. He didn't want to hear any of it.

I understand i dont like pills either hard to remember to take vitamin everyday. Hicham is same way i have to remind him to take his vitamin. Maybe he could talk to someone a counselor or iman ( not sure of the spelling). Hicham has same issues especially during winter. We are from minnesota. Everyone gets the winter blues but it is worse for them. They are not used to being confined to the house. The internet has been great help vidoe chat with his mom is wonderful. I dont know if his family has computer but that is one great hepl to us. Facebook has helped him alot he can connect with morocco freinds all over the place. I wish he had a friend close that he could hang out with. It is hard we live in small town. A vacatio may help too i am praying for you guys

  5. She passed, but was conditional on final approval, IO told her it had to be sent off someplace, yeah to her supervisor in the same office. And still question whether my wife was being approved or if how the IO handled the interview and got all the required data was being approved.

Instructed my wife to request the same day oath like other field offices do, we don't do that here was the reply, but you should get your oath letter within two weeks. Waited seven weeks, then called my senators office, her oath was done at the St. Paul's office three days later. So they can do an oath in the field office if instructed to do so by your senators office.

that is good to know thanks

    Darlene

  6. We were also at St. Paul, the one located in Bloomington, sat there for 45 minutes, I got up and asked the receptionist that was a cute little oriental girl about our appointment, she could also barely speak English, but gathered she said they were running late. Wife had that African American rather plume woman, her only comment about the children listed within our marriage was, wow, you have eight kids! For her it was two of her own and six of mine that would be her step kids. Glad her IO didn't ask their ages, really don't think my wife memorized that. I filled that section out, heck, I am a man, we don't burden our brains with such things as anniversaries or birthdays. Had to call a couple of my kids to ask them for their birth dates. What does that prove? Do remember my step daughters birthday, been living here six years now and had to type it lots of times, mostly for governmental forms.

Wife's IO asked her three times if she was a prostitute, wife was a bit offended by that, but she said she kept her cool.

As the sponsoring US citizens, we tend to take over filling out the these forms, but from reading this board, going through all the questions on those ten pages of the N-400 is very much a part of the interview. So instructed my wife to study that just like those 100 civic questions. Never tested her on remembering all those birthdays, this is a first from reading your post. Another thing to be concerned about. Ha, my wife is just as bad as me about remembering dates, was our sixth wedding anniversary last Tuesday, she forgot all about it.

well glad she got her citizenship.

WHat was results at end of interview??

Did she have to wait for oath letter??

    thanks

    darlene

  7. I just saw you're in MN - assuming Bloomington office - did he have a heavy set female officer do the interview? If so, she's a witch and odds are good that she didn't pass him on the test. My husband had something similar with the letter happen. I waited and talked to her afterwards to try and straighten things out. She flat up lied to me about why she didn't pass him and when my husband went for his 2nd interview, the new interview lady couldn't understand why the 1st one didn't pass him. Frustrating. I think NickD's wife had the same lady with similar results too.

no he had oriental man. I am not sure nationality.

it is wierd maybe they are stalling cause the dont have room for so many for oath

    Darlene

  8. Good news is that you will get a letter either way.

Either you'll get a letter to come back in about 60 days to redo the test/interview OR you'll get the letter for the oath ceremony.

You also could try calling the number listed on the sheet for the interview - I found that they were very helpful at this stage in the process with what was going on.

thanks just have to wait as always.

    Darlene

  9. Each office/city seems to schedule the oath ceremony differently: some offices same day, some offices big ceremonies every few weeks or months, and some who knows. Anyway you are done with all your efforts I'm sure, now only waiting for them to get their act together and send you the oath invitation!

ya i am figuring that out now.

Just when you think got everything going something throws ya a curve lol

    Darlene

  10. What is this fuzz all about?

He will get his oath letter in the mail soon. Many people don't get a cheerful "yeah . . . you passed . . . right on, Dude" after the interview. Are you guys are going gagga now over the fact that a decision could not be made right away? That means nothing, absolutely nothing. Often they still have to look at the FBI files, check some responses in regard to the data on file, or talk to the supervisor. That's it.

well the form he got was wierd

    they checked

X You will be given another opportunity to be tested on your ability to

    ability to what?????

made sound like he did not pass test but interviewer said he did

    Darlene

  11. Sorry that Hicham didn't get the instant confirmation of approval, but actually from what I have read here, many people get that answer; they have to wait for the approval and oath ceremony confirmation and sometimes it takes a month or two. It is a good sign that the CO said he would recommend the approval! No telling what goes on for some people to be approved immediately and others who have to wait until whatever they have to do. However, denial is very very rare. I would say you don't have to worry and don't have to call just yet. Keep an eye on your online status. Best wishes for a fast approval.

    thanks for help

I actually found two others that had to wait for oath letter one for 4 weeks other 131 days. They are both going through the st paul office and sound like had the same interviewer. Supposedly they use to do thousands at oath ceremony now like 70 or 125 that is crazy no wa they will ever get caught up.

I am sure in california there are many offices here in minnesota we all go through one office.

I will check online staus daily lol

I would literally go crazy without VJ lol.

I just had hopes that this would be last step in USCIS it is but thought it would be over friday. Seeing other get approval same day really is what worried me.

    Darlene

  12. I am feeling a little better that found this post.

I am glad you got letter shocked it took so long.

My husband had interview on the 15th sounds like that same interviewer.

Things he knew he passed were not checked on paper he got.

THe only thing he said he would have to review papers.

he wrote that hicham passed 6/6 but the sheet was not checked that he did.

He said the reading and written went fine except he might have mispelled washington he is not sure.

He asked alot of questions about relationship live together ever seperated work in same town as live

asked my kids names and ages

how many times he has been to morocco how many times i have been to morocco

Do i know his family and friends in morocco

if we live just the two of us

These all sound like greencard questions not citizenship i could be wrong.

THing is he just got his 10 year greencard so i dont see the bi deal

maybe it is just a st paul thing

I saw 3 get approved same day from fresno

    Your post helped alot

    Darlene

  13. Darlene,

Even though your husband answered all six questions right, did he not pass the writing part of the interview? That could be the reason for the "X" next to .."given another opportunity to be tested....."???

That "X" next to that would be my main concern as to it sounds like a retake? or to come back?

The "X" next to "USCIS will send you a wrtten decision about your application"

and the "X" next to "decision can not yet be made" was what my husband got. The officer said he needed another officer to go over his application to approve it. We ended up with the Oath letter 4 weeks later. I guess that was the letter for "USCIS will send you a written decision about your application". From what I have read about our local office in St.Paul they don't approve always right on the spot. Did your husband ask the officer at the end if anything else was needed or when he would expect his oath letter? My husband was worried when he didn't get approved on the spot and asked the officer if he should be concerned or can he expect an oath letter still. The officer reassured him that it was fine, even though he got "X decision can not yet be made".

I hope this helps Darlene!!!! Be patient! I know I wasn't....:)

Well as far as i know he did fine or written part of the test just had to write washington was father of country. He said he was not sure if spelled washington right.

Hicham said the guy who spoke bad english said he would have to look over his papers.

i dont know its all crazy

    Thanks for help

    Darlene

  14. Totally understand. After hearing all the news that people on your board got their interview dates, getting any form of deviation is nerve wracking. I remember reading some time ago about people who didn't get approved right away, but got the response in the mail. Don't worry too much about it. When I first applied for citizenship, I got an outright denial, because I couldn't prove that I wasn't out of the country too much. I re-applied in a few years and got through witout an issue.

thanks for advice it helps alot

    Darlene

  16. Darlene, hit report on that post and hopefully you should have the opportunity to explain your reason for reporting the post. I think they will remove it then.

I think at this point, you can wait a few days then call the USCIS 800 number to see if you can get an explanation, or wait until you get a letter from them to see what the issue is. They may just send the Oath letter. Keeping my fingers crossed for you and praying that all goes well.

  17. My husband had his interview today for citizenship.

The test was not checked but he saw the the interviewer write 6/6 he got all questions right.

He asked other things like my kids names and ages he was not sure of age one was 22 he said 21 or 22 othere is 25 he said 25 or 26

he asked if we live alone together and phone address and if he works in same town. Have we ever been seperated and we have not. How many times i went to morocco have i met his family and friends. Yes was there 2 times.

Any advice will be greatly appreciated we are worried about this.

    Darlene

  18. Hicham had his interview today. He was asked questions about our marriage and my kids there names and ages. What town he works in ect.

THere was 6 questions he passed that is what the guy said.

THe form he got had checked you will be given another opportunity to be tested on your ablilty to????? Ability to what.

Then was also checked USCIS will send you a written decision about your applications.

and after that checked was that a decision cannot yet be made about your application

The guy that interviewed him said he would look at few more papers in the file and he would recommend him for approval.

Well that is not at all what the letter said.

Thinking this mess is over today and have to wait longer.

should i call them or wait???
