I have a question about POE....

Can you chose your POE or is it done by the Embassy?

My finace put his POE as Chicago, will this be a problem?

    :help::help::help::help: if you can,

    Thanks!!!!

Where ever your plane touches down on US territory is the POE. If that is Chicago, then that is your POE. You are almost there buddy, hang in there and good luck.

  3. The NVC issued us a MNL number and has forwarded our petition to the US Embassy in Manila on March 7th.

My question is how can I track our petition's process?

What are anyone's thoughts on our projected timeline?

Also, if I wish to be there for the interview and our flight back to US, how many days should I plan on being in the Philippines?

Finally, what would be the best way to purchase her flight back to US?

I do not mean to be presumptuous of our approval; I am only looking forward and thinking of our options.

Thanks in advance for you thoughts.

    Respectfully,

    Robert

I agree with what Deaniwait said about getting the ticket, I have already purchased our tickets back to the states as I also plan to be there for the interview.

As far as the ride back, it really depends on what your final destination is. I see you are Nebraska USCIS office which means nothing actually. I purchased our tickets on Northwest Airlines. Her ticket, one way from Manila to Oklahoma city was $900. I purchased mine thru a consolidator for $975 round trip. I had to buy her ticket directly from Northwest Airlines as no one else would sell a one way on that flight.

As for how many days, that is really up to you, as Dean said it could take up to 10 days or possibly a wee bit more just to get the visa, depends where the visa will be sent to. We are going to ask for an Embassy pickup and show them the ticket, so hopefully we can get it in 2 days. If not we will have it delivered either to the hotel where we are or to an address in Cavite which is near Manila and it should not take more than 3 days to get there. I arrive on Apr 21, the interview is Apr 23, and we come back to the states on May 3. God willing.

As for tracking your file, you probably wont find out anything until they have given you an interview date. There is a phone number in Sheriff Uling's signature to the State Dept. It is area code 202 xxx xxxx. The call will be to Washington DC. They will have the info on or shortly after the 15th of the month. Which month is anyone's guess. From the NOA2 to interview for us is almost exactly 4 months. However it seems they are moving the interviews a little faster now. Your fiancee will receive a "pre interview letter". Some call this a packet 3, but it is only a letter stating they have received the file and they will soon be sending a packet 4 to her. It took a little over a month for us to get the packet 4 after receipt of the letter.

After you get the interview date she can take the physical at any time. We are taking ours a month early because my sweetie had some medical problems and if there was a problem at the Physical we wanted to have time to do any other tests they might want to do prior to the interview, othewise they would reschedule the interview for one or two months later.

Try to be Patient, unlike myself. haha

Best of luck to you and your fiancee, Dean

  4. CONGRATS BERNIE AND SHERWIN!!!! Thanks also for the encouragement for our interview. We are having serious text messaging problems now. Since arriving in Manila on Tuesday her messages are not reaching me, but mine are reaching her. Don't know why. We spoke very late last night. She should be at the Bayview now. I'll give her a quick call from the office later today for a last second pep talk. Yep, this very agonizing wait is nearly over. By evening today she'll be in the hot seat, and I'll be at my church. I can only hope and pray for an approval for us. Tonite we'll know...wow...the big day has arrived.

Thanks to everyone for your prayers and companionship...Michael and Milah Jean

:dance::dance: woot! woot!:dance::dance:APPROVED!! my wife had her appointment at 6:30, she said she was out of the embassy by 9:30. she also said the pre-interviewer was very nice and polite as was the CO. he looked at pictures only, asked few questions and said thank you ma'am u r approved!! :backflip: :somersault: :tumbling:  good luck mike and milah jean and mike and lorna on ur cr-1's, and to everybody else on ur upcoming interviews. God Bless, Bernie and She

edit: thank you all our fellow philippines vj'ers for all the help and support you provide to all of us going thru this process

Michael, we were having tthe exact same problem with the phones, her texts were not getting here. I don't know if it is fixed yet, but this has been going on for more than a week now. She is back home so we are msn and dont do any texting now.

    Good Luck, Dean

  5. Hello, I would like to know is packet 3 and 4 sent out by regular mail or Currier?

    Thank you,

If you are on a K1, Manila does not send a packet 3. They send a preinterview letter stating they have received you case from NVC and when your interview is scheduled they will send the packet 4 with all the instructions and forms. It took a little more than a month from the time we got our letter until the packet 4 arrived. You don't do anything with the letter and that is what some people confuse for a packet 3. Packet 3 is usually for K3 filers, those already married.

If you go the forum section in this site, then the Foreign Embassy section, and follow that to the Manila Embassy thread, there are lots of very nice people there that are very knowledgeable.

That is by far the best I've seen anywhere, and they only discuss Philippines.

    Good Luck, Dean

  6. The Japanese counsulet told us that it would take two months from the one in Manila. The thing is here interview is on the 11th of April. My attorney told me that there is a faster way by getting in contact with the one in Main land Japan but the people at the american embassy in Manila were not helpful at all. Surprise Surprise. Can anyone point me in the right direction? I really need this help!

If you could give us more details it would help us understand what you are talking about. Your girl is from Philippines? She is in Japan at the time being? You contact the embassy in Manila for what? Where is the interview scheduled at? Manila or Tokyo?

There is a thread in this site at the forum area go to Foreign Embassy, then follow that to the Manila Embassy thread. There are lots of people on that thread that can help you.

    Good luck, Dean

  8. Today, I called the Foreign Affairs Division in Taiwan with regards how will I obtain foreign police cert., I found out that I can do it thru mailing and only takes 3 working days to process. I got the application form ready and probably will send it anytime soon. This is the only lacking requirement for my K1, i got everything ready and hopefully packet 3 will come soon for we know that i might get my interview date on or before June 11, 2007. My fiance already sent me his I-134, and all other necessary documents for my interview, Through God's grace hope this waiting will be over soon!

I would also like to thank Blair for being such a good friend here! God bless you and Judith.

Hi guys, glad to see things are moving along ok.

Manila does not send a packet 3 for K1 visa. The beneficiary will receive a pre interview letter stating they have received the packet from NVC and will "soon" be receiving a packet 4 from the embassy.

If you will go to the Foreign Embassy forum at this site and follow the Manila Embassy thread you will get a tremendous amount of info and some great people there that will help you a lot.

Best of luck to you both, Dean

  9. Why its takin a "while" before they send the pre interview notice/packet 4 for the beneficiaries? Does anybody have an idea what are the process<if there is> involve before they finally send the packet? I saw some other fellow VJ's timelines and seems like the waiting period is 2 months or so before receiving a letter from the embassy.

    Hi Byron & Gracy,

Yeah it seems like forever but they eventually get it to you. They won't send out the packet 4 until your interview date has been set. It will probably be March 15 or later before the dates are listed and probably within 2 weeks or more after that they will send out the packet 4.

If you will go to the Foreign Embassy Forum at this site and go to the Manila Embassy thread, you will find help there. The guys on that thread are awesome and very very knowledgeable. You will get all the info you need there.

  10. Everyone whose done with the medical in st.lukes i need your :help: can u tell me how much does all the vaccinations cost there.THANK YOU IN ADVANCE :innocent:

We have not yet been thru the Medical at St Luke, but I'm pretty sure the vaccinations are included in the $95 fee.

You might try going to the Foreign Embassy Forum and to the Manila Embassy thread, for more feed back. The people there are fantastic and very knowledgeable.

  11. Hi everyone,

It's been a while and there's a lot of stuff to catch up here. good luck to those who already got their visa and interview date. I want to share a little something about our wedding. You all are part of making it possible for us. Thank you so much!

  12. Dean,

Comments like your's get ignored by the left. Keep up the independent thought (it pi$$es them off).

Man is so arrogant to think the climate shouldn't change.

Thanks for the encouragement Lucky. Do they still make Lucky Strike cigarettes? How about Pall Mall? Man my age is showing, I better shut up.

  13. "Wait a minute. When we burn fossil fuels we are only returning the carbon back to the environment that used to exist hundreds of millions of years ago. Is this a bad thing? During this time there was obviously a lot of vegetation about that was broken down into the present day fossil fuels. It might have been more of a paradise."

    http://hecubus.wordpress.com/2007/03/02/ca...egger-and-gore/

Wait a minute. You can't say that, it makes too much sense. LOL You are not supposed to think for yourself, you are supposed to believe all that ####### they are shoveling.

If people would think more for themselves than listen to the so called experts they would be much better off. As has been said before, "An expert is a fellow with a briefcase that is at least 50 miles from home."

  14. What about the ozone layer? You don't hear much about that these days. That was one of the other scare tactics some of these "scientists" were giving at the time. Remember we were all supposed to be cooking now from the harmful rays of the sun?

I thought that cfc's were responsible for the hole in the ozone layer and that after cutting them out of our lives we have given the ozone layer a chance to heal itself. The hole has either stopped expanding or is infact getting smaller since we started listening to the scientists.

Good question! Actually the hole in the ozone has varied every year, only since man has been in outer space did we even know it existed. There is absolutely no evidence to support the "theory" that cfc's destroy the ozone. There again, these people got their money and they shut up.

I pose a question to you. Many cities have ozone alert days, when the climatic conditions are just right and everyone is supposed to walk or ride bicycles and stay indoors. My question is this, why don't we use more ozone polluting vehicles so the ozone can go up and plug the ozone holes? Or, if it is so bad for us why don't we all get a can of freon and spray it around to "kill" the ozone?

The same yoyos that told us there would be world wide starvation by now, and global cooling, are the same bunch of as%$*@#$les that are telling us that global warming is caused by humans. Watch what I'm telling you, in a few years this will all be ancient history.

  15. I saw a documentary recently about finding crocodile fossils in the Sahara desert. How did that happen? I'm not a "scientist" but my guess would be that there was water, and a lot of it covering the Sahara. Did man cause that or was it a natural phenomenon? My guess would be it was natural.

Not necessarily... Desertification can and does take place as a direct result of human activity - specifically overuse of land for agricultural purposes. What do you think caused the Dust Bowl in the 1930s? Natural drought exacerbated by poor and intensive farming methods would be my guess...

Interesting you mentioned the Sahara, because its actually getting larger year after year - for much the same reason.

If I dam a river, it follows that the ecosystem downstream is going to noticeably affected by that. Ever lived near a coastal town where Groynes have been built to trap the sand to maintain nice sandy beaches? Guess what happens further down the coast - that's right, coastal erosion.

Thanks for the comments, and I agree with you on most of the points you make here. However the Sahara at one time was probably farmed, but even it wasn't being farmed at the time, with the small number of people on the planet, lack of rain is what keeps it a desert. Vegetation does not generate rain. So, even if it were covered with vegetation with plenty of water there is no guarantee that it would rain. We see that all the time in various parts of the world that experience droughts, yet they have vegetation.

As far as the dust bowl is concerned, you are absolutely correct about the drought being exacerbated by the farming practices of the day. A good portion of the land was taken from prarie grasses to plowed row crops. Most of the erosion was actually caused by water run off rather than wind as many would assume. Obviously the wind did have a great impact, but not as much as the rain. The dust bowl region no longer experiences those kinds of problems because the immediate impact of dust bowl drove most of the farmers off the land and all those jerks moved to California. LOL just kidding.

As for your comments about dams and coastal erosion, I will take your word for it as I do not have any experience with that, having lived most of my life land locked in Oklahoma. By the way, do you know how to tell if an Okie is married? There will be tobacco spit stains on both sides of the truck.

There have been droughts since then, many in fact, but the point I'm trying to make in this whole discussion is that the climate changes with or without man. Yes, man can create problems with the environment, but they are not nearly as great as some would have us believe nor are the permanent as some would have us believe.

We have all seen films of the oil gushers spewing thousands of gallons of crude oil onto the land. Ever wonder what happens? The oil does a number on the soil, most plants cannot live in it and die very quickly. But after a few years, even without any clean up, the vegetation grows back and it soon becomes impossible to tell that there ever was a environmental disaster there. A few years ago I was driving thru my pasture in my pickup truck, with tobacco stains down both sides, and had a five gallon can of gasoline in the back. The can turned over and and ran out the bed of the truck as I crossed the pasture covering approx a 50 yard long area and perhaps 2 feet wide. I thought it would kill all the vegetation. Much to my surprise the grass became much greener and taller in that area than the surrounding grass. I know this is not a "scientific" approach, but the results were without dispute.

The sun plays a greater role in climate change than man ever could. I just read a report that stated the sun goes thru 11 year cycles and can be predicted with some degree of accuracy. However sun solar eruptions cannot be predicted and they have a great effect on our climate here on earth. The poles receive more radiation than the rest of the planet according to most scientists, therefore doesn't it stand to reason they would heat more and cool more during their cycles?

We all understand the seasons of our year and what causes the change. Doesn't it stand to reason that the sun will cause the earth to warm, thereby evaporating water, which in turn becomes clouds, which in turn block the sun?

  16. CHANGES AT AIRPORT CONCERNING ID CHECK

Hi, Lorna just ran into a problem at Manila airport.

Since St. Lukes kept her Passport she no longer had a photo ID with her new married last name. All of her other IDs have her maiden name.

It was no problem getting back to Cebu FEB 21 after physical. She just showed the guard her marriage cert. and her postal ID and he let her in.

Then, last week Lorna flew to Manila again to be with her friend during her friends physical and interview. They were there about 10 days.

When they went to Cebu Airport... again, no problem..... showed the guard her MC and postal ID. He let her in and everything was fine.

But when she went to Manila airport to fly home to cebu, the guard wouldn't let her in. He said things have changed and she needed a photo ID with her proper last name....(new married name) Lorna got angry and the guard took her to the ticket counter to talk to a guard there. They still wouldn't let her in. Even when she showed them a colored copy of her passport.

Finally, the guard told her to go to a 7-11 and get a photo id. So she junped in a cab and looked for a 7-11 which she finally found. Got the ID (Lucky she had a passpot pic with her)

Then she raced back to the airport and the guard let her in which is weird because the 7-11 id is a temporary ID, not a government id and she didn't have to show any docs to get it.

She still made the flight but WOW! I was so mad that they don't give advanced notice or have so may days to still do things the old way.

Anyway, now today Lorna is running around trying to get a postal ID with her married name. She went to PO.... from there she was instructed to get 2 2x2 photos at a photo studio, then back home to get barangay clearance, then city hall for notary, then back to PO. Jeeeesh!

I can't believe we are within a week of the interview and this ####### is still going on.

I mean this is nothng compared to what we went through to get her a birth certificate, but still.... I am drained!! I know she is hating all of this too.

Oh well..... watch out!! If you give up your passport at St. Lukes and don't have another photo ID with your proper name on it... ouch!

    God bless!

    Mike

Thanks for the heads up Mike. At least she was able to get it all finished and back home. Just a little more patience my friend and you will be finished. When I tell people to be patient I'm actually talking to my self. LOL

  17. Hello! I applied for a K1 visa, I'm finished with my interview but they asked me to submit additional documents which is the Other Country Police

certificate. I submitted it last March 6 and they told me to just wait because my case is for review... It's a week already and I haven't heard anything form the embassy. I called their call center already but their database information is 1 month late... Is there any possibility that my visa will be denied? Is there anyone who has the same case with mine? Please help me, I'm losing hope already, I just wish that I'm not waiting for nothing... :help:

Hi Princess, Just calm down a little, everything will be ok.

A part of the instructions in the packet 4 instructed you to get a police clearance from any countries that you might have worked in. I assume that you worked in another country and did not get the police clearance, therefore they requested the polic clearance from that country. Once it goes into AR you must wait until they get it checked out. If you have a clear police record in the foreign country you worked in then it will be ok, but it will take some time for them to get it cleared up.

The Manila Embassy does 50,000 visas per year. They are one of the busiest embassies in the world, therefore it takes them time to get to these things.

Just remind yourself that it was your fault because you did not provide the info according to the instructions in the packet 4. If everything checks out ok I'm sure you will get your visa. Don't give up, just hang in there. If a month or more passes your fiance might try calling his congressman or senator to get some help here.

You also might want to try the Foriegn Embassy, the the Manila Embassy thread in this site. There are lots of people there that are very knowledgeable about these things and would be glad to help you.

You are almost finished with the race, don't give up or panic now.

  18. Global warming is a fact, at least for the time being. Supposedly it has gone up less than 1 degree celcius in the last 100 years or so. Steven, for your info I am not an educated man, but I am a thinking man. None of these "scientists" are telling us how warm it will get and by when. I watch the local weather frequently and they have a hard time predicting the weather for tomorrow let alone many years to come.

I remember many years ago when the "scientists" were telling us that the world would be out of food and starving by now. There were all kinds of dire predictions on the mass famines that would happen. They were telling us that we needed to have "zero population growth", so that we all would not starve to death.

I also remember the prediction some 30 years ago about the "global cooling" that was taking place at that time. All the dire predictions of what it would be like to have another ice age.

What about the ozone layer? You don't hear much about that these days. That was one of the other scare tactics some of these "scientists" were giving at the time. Remember we were all supposed to be cooking now from the harmful rays of the sun?

ALL of the "scientists" try to frighten people to get governments to FUND their "research" into any particular area. All of the above mentioned were given funding by various governments, ours included, to try to prove their "theories". Steven you were good at the dictionary stuff there, how about a definition of "theory".

This is my prediction, in a few years most of us will not remember this topic as they will have gotten their funding, i.e. money, to do their research. This topic will go away and another will take its place.

Supposedly since the formation of the earth there have been ice ages, but there have also been tropical weather during the time of the dinosaurs. What do the "scientists" attribute that to? My uneducated guess would be that it was natural.

What about the dinosaurs? What Happened? Seen any mastadons lately? My guess is that this was also man made disaster.

I saw a documentary recently about finding crocodile fossils in the Sahara desert. How did that happen? I'm not a "scientist" but my guess would be that there was water, and a lot of it covering the Sahara. Did man cause that or was it a natural phenomenon? My guess would be it was natural.

I lived in Dallas for many years and there was white gypsum formations over most of that region . Inside the stones were every description of aquatic creatures, especially shells. Obviously that part of the world was covered with water at one time, but it is several hundred miles from the ocean now, and there are no natural lakes in that area.

I have heard many "experts" say many things thru the years and I find the best way to deal with those issues is simply to seek out and ask the same types of questions. Example: A business associate and I were talking about healthy foods when he commented that the danger of mercury poisoning had caused him to stop eating fish. I asked him how many people he knew of that had died of mercury poisoning? How many did he know that were sick of mercury poisoning? Of course, like the rest of us he did not know of anyone. The same holds true with all the other scare stories these "scientists" have told us asbestos and mold. All of that was caused by lawyers doing a shakedown of businesses, because the "settlements" mostly went to the lawyers on all those things. John Edwards for example got millions from the tobacco industry because he got a cut of the "settlement".

Wake up folks, look at things with your own eyes. Think with your own mind. Just because someone says it dont make it so. Most of the scientific "theory" that we hold as truths today, will be tomorrow's wive's tales. OR you can always trust that august body know as the UN. You know their studies are impeccable. All of their members, except the US of course, are all fine upstanding people, only interested in protecting humanity.

My uneducated guess is that man did not create this earth, cannot change its rotation, cannot move it out of its orbit or do much of anything else to destroy it, or change its climate. There have been any number of instances where "scientists" tried to make it rain, with very very limited success. Until they can make it rain I will stay with my way of thinking. I'm not advocating trashing out planet by any means, but at the same time a little common sense goes a long way.

And of course there was the cancellation of a meeting on global warming because of the blizzards this winter. OK, why dont they just make it warm up, at least for their meeting. Maybe they could burn their "scientists" degrees.

  19. Hello to all! We got approved (NOA2) last February 27 and as of this time, we haven't heard from NVC about the status of our case (but we're sure they got our case from California). Looking at others timelines, it usually takes 2-3 weeks for NVC to forward it to Manila (that's if not being put under AR-God forbid). Now my question is, what is the best way to contact USE Manila about our case (if we already heard from NVC)? How long does it takes for me to receive what they call "Packet 3" if ever they will send one? I know I'm a bit excited about the whole thing but as I've heard from others, once you got the NOA2, things are a lot easier now. I hate surprises (because it could kill me- ) and I don't want to be surprised from lacking of knowledge about what to expect after being approved at USCIS... Any advice and input will be highly appreciated. :help:

    Thanks in advance!

    Mae :luv:

Mae, the US citizen should receive a letter with your case number on it. It will start with MNL2007XXXXXX. You can call this number: 202 663 1225, press 1, press 0, press 0. This is Department of State. They probably will tell you that the file has been sent to Manila. Your interview date probably will not be available until April 15th., at which time you can call the above number with your case number and hopefully they will have your interview date available. You can also check on line with US embassy Manila checking with your file number.

You have come a long way, but you still have some more to go, just try to be patient. Start gathering all the info you will need for the interview. Make sure you fill out everything correctly and completely. If a space does not apply to you, then put NA.

As was already stated, you will not get a Packet 3. What many are calling Packet 3 is simply a letter telling the beneficiary that the petition has been received and informing that the Packet 4 will be sent to them soon. Don't hold your breath on the soon part either, but it will come, ours was a more than a month after the letter.

Just hang in there, you are getting close to finishing. It is worth it. Your love and your m arriage will be made stronger for the struggle you are going thru now. God bless you on the rest of your journey.

    dean & gra

Well said Dean :thumbs::thumbs: Wish and pray all the very best for you and Gra!

    Goodluck Mae!!Hang in there!

    (F)

Thanks Gary and Luz, we will have a wonderful life together as I'm sure you guys will too. I really appreciate all your posts by the way. Since there have been all the approvals from Feb this thread is getting strangely silent. Oh well, PW will be back soon and we will try to coax her into telling how the laundry was done. LOL

I will be arriving in Manila on Apr 21 to be with my sweetie during the interview and hopefully flying back together on May 3. We are praying for favor at the interview.

  21. I have a question , perhaps you can help me, my fiancee will leave Manila on 3/13 at 8am NWA , can anyone tell me what time my fiancee should arrive at the airport. I need to know how many hours before departure time she should be there.

    thanks

    steve

Steve, Normal timetables would have her at the airport at 5 am, or 3 hours prior to flight take off. I have made that flight many times and the place is packed at 5 am. I would suggest she be there 3 hours before flight time. Also there are some fees to be paid inside the airport. You may or may not be aware that there is a fee of 1,650 pesos for a filipina to leave the Philippines. There is also a 550 peso air terminal fee and a newly implemented 200 peso security fee. The 1,650 may be included in the price of your ticket, but the other two definitely are not included in the price. Everyone has to pay the 750 peso fee, only filipinos pay the 1650peso fee.

Also if she has an e ticket she should go in and go all the way to the far right, not the left, as there is a very very long line there. If she does not have an e ticket, she will need to get in the very very long line.

    Good luck, Dean

  22. QUESTION about interview slips (pink, green, etc)

    Hi,

can somone tell me the difference in these slips you get after the interview....

I herd that pnk has APPROVED on it..is that correct?

then there's a green and somone just mention to me who just completed her interview asking about a blue slip???

Any help would be appreciated and thanks,

    Mike

Mike, I have read the same posts you have and it is my opinion that they change the colors to confuse those of us that are trying to get a handle on how things went. Just as there is no rhyme or reason on the NVC numbers sequence, or lack thereof and our trying to determine when our interview dates might be based on the number we get, you can't. I think the different colors are simply a "CYA" move in that all cases must be approved by supervisor after the interview.

Your fiancee will do fine. My sweetie and I are going to practice the interview, with me asking her the questions. Just be prepared, that is the main thing. Just try to get her to relax and the interview should go well.

    Good luck, Dean

  23. Hello VJ'ers,

I am planning to book my ticket but I am wondering whats the best POE going to JAX,FLorida?

I heard not so good story in Detroit , any recommendation please?

Also whats the good airline that will good a good price..or is it good to book in a local travel agent?

    Thanks in advance.

CONGRATULATIONS ON THE VISA, Have a great life in the US. I just purchased a ticket for my sweetie from PI to Oklahoma city via Northwest Airlines. It was $900 and I purchased it on line from nwa.com. I tried the travel agents, but all of them were much more than her ticket. the POE is Minneapolis, and I understand it is quite good. I have made many trips to PI and I can tell you that it depends on the customs agent as to whether they are nice or not. Most have treated me very well, while there was one time a woman agent treated me like and asked me questions as though I was a child molester. I got angry but did not comment as I simply wanted to get thru the customs without any problem. I don't know what her problem was but she was a B*#$%. Chances are you wont have any problems at all.
