hi all!!!

cant expressed my happiness when i saw the letter that says USCIS... i opened it right away while walking back to our house and i finally saw the congratulatory note!!! didnt finish reading it and gave it to my husband right away and he read it all lol... thank God!

thanks for the HELP you guys and all the encouragement (i know how i posted all my worries and paranoia here in VJ)... i believe its Immigrant who told me to get an early bio app and thanks for that!!! wana wish for those who are still waiting and filing good luck and for those who have the same/similar timeline as mine, your approval is on the way

So I noticed that on my approval letter on the heading where it shows name and address my first name only has the first letter written down, i.e. it says J Doe as opposed to Jane Doe.

I know they give the number to call should any info be incorrect so now I dunno if that's considered incorrect info or it they shortened it on purpose.

Btw, I have two last names and both appear in full.

I GOT THE SAME APPROVAL LETTER TODAY IN HEADING ONLY FIRST LETTER OF MY NAME AND THEN LAST NAME.. I THINK THAT IS NORMAL NO NEED TO WORRY ABOUT..

The I-551 stamp is temp-green-card stamp, typically USCIS gives this stamp only if you are close to a year since CR-Green-card expiation date, the I-751 NOA1 letter extends your status for a year, this allows travel and work, I-551 stamp not needed.

You will receive a notice of receipt for the form stating that "Your alien card is extended one year - employment and travel authorized". Keep the receipt with your green card. If by some chance you are not approved within a year you will want to make an InfoPass appointment to go to your Local Office to request an I-551 stamp in your passport. This does happen as it sometimes it takes over a year to be approved. After your NOA extension expires, this is your only evidence of legal status which you are required to have, by law. This happens occasionally, that a case takes over a year, but it's rare. Local Offices will not give an I-551 stamp is you have another type of evidence of status (ie, expired Green Card + extension letter).

Hello to all ,

Im so happy finally i received the letter from HOmeland Security telling me that my conditional residency has been removed and approved. It also mentioned on the letter that gc will received within 60 days.

Does it really takes 60 days before i get my gc? i HOpe sooner coz im planning to see my family sometime in August.

wow congratulations! yeah that was quick.. im hoping that would happen to me too.. I sent the packet to csc for my I-751 just today.

remember though, you have to be married and have been living with your hubby for at least 3 years if you want to be able to file 90 days before...

If you are applying based on 5 years as a Permanent Resident or 3 years as a Permanent Resident married to a U.S. citizen, you may file for naturalization up to 90 days before you meet the continuous residence requirement. For example, if you are applying based on 3 years of continuous residence as a Permanent Resident married to a U.S. citizen, you can apply any time after you have been a Permanent Resident in continuous residence for 3 years minus 90 days. You may send your application before you have met the requirement for continuous residence only. Therefore, you must still have been married to and living with your U.S. citizen spouse for 3 years before you may file your application. You must also meet all the other eligibility requirements when you file your application with USCIS.

You can file 90 days from third anniversary of getting first conditional green-card. That is 1 year after you filed to lift conditions.

We had a successful interview yesterday at the Manila Embassy. I cant describe the feeling, we are so overwhelmed!

I was interviewed around 8:30 am by the pre-interview screener, holding number 7016. It was short and only asked me few questions and to submit my BC, CENOMAR, NBI, other police clearance, affidavit of support, emails and pictures.During my fingerprint scanning, got a little prob coz my fingers are small esp my pinky, lol! So i need to repeat it and i made the fingerprinting scanner laughed and other applicants.

At 9:50am, my number flash at the queing board to meet the Consul (lil nervous). I have to wait coz he still interviewing the old couple for their tourist visa so at exactly 10am time to meet the CO. He asked to raised my right hand and sworn. He asked me the ff questions:

1) Who is my petitioner

2) How long i know my fiance and if we ever discuss our marriage.

3) When i met him personally and how long he stayed

4) My fiance civil status

5) If i ever been married and if i have kid/s

5) My educational attainment and course of study

(he was impressed coz he read i graduated in a university of scholars in Manila)

After that he congratulate me and told me to give Joe a call to tell him i was approved!!!

I told him i wish i could but i left my celphone on our car, then we both laughed. When i left cubicle 29, i feel like floating in the air, our conversation is great, the CO is kind and approachable, u wont feel nervous coz he always smile. He told me that he has no doubt abt our relationship and he didnt want to disappoint my fiance's daughter coz he read her letter saying she cant wait for me to be with them, good point that i included some of their pictures.

Thank you fellow vjers who sent us prayers and goodluck to make our interview a huge success!

Is it really normal for first time green card holder with single name not the married name? I hope to see all your comments and ideas.. and it would be appreciated so much....

Yes, the OP did specifically ask about time to visa approval. But is that what he meant? So many people use the petition and visa terminology interchangeably that it's often not possible to know what they really mean without asking for clarification before answering.

Or, do what I often do and what pushbrk is doing in this thread - go on the premise that the person means what the write, answer the question asked rather than assume what the question should have been, and leave it to the questioner to eventually figure out that they asked the wrong question.

Beyond that the OP did not specifiy the starting point for the time, only the end point. Did he want time from petition submission to visa acceptance or time from visa application to visa acceptance?

Bad questions invariably get bad answers.

Please don't use misleading terminology. Your I-130 petition took 64 days from submission to approval. Your spouse's CR1 Visa took 252 days from submission to interview. The OP asked about visas, not petitions.

Yes, he did mention what approval he was referring to.

IR1 and CR1 are visas. I-130 and I-129F are petitions. If you don't know this basic information, you might want to reconsider whether you are ready to try to help others through the process.

oh yes.. i stand corrected im not an expert like you are.. But i will try to help the best that i can im not telling everybody to follow me coz im right.. im sure there are a lot people who can give best and great information for any of that matter. Thats why we have this forum so everybody can get a lot and sort out which gives the best information...

Well today both the K3 and the CR-1 were both approved. So how does this work with the interview. Will they interview for both the at the same time? or will the k3 still be before the cr-1

either way, i want to do the one that gets my wife her the fastest. which option does that?

i strongly believed if the two k3 and cr-1 got approved at the same time.. the k3 will be the fastest to get your wife to the states but once get there she will adjust her status as permanent, if cr-1 papers will be back and forth and may take longer than the k3 (others used James Shortcut) but she will have an immigrant visa (permanet resident) no need to adjust only to lift conditions after two years of anniversary upon arrival in the states.
