Thanks for the detailed answer! I understand now that it can really come down to the managers themselves. And I totally agree with you, better to walk out as a USC than waiting for a ceremony that I assume is not even very ceremonial nowadays because of Covid restrictions.
It's just sad this is not really a public info how it used to be some time ago, for example:
QuoteNaturalization Ceremonies
The Denver Field Office conducts Judicial Ceremonies twice per month and Administrative Ceremonies every week. This office does conduct same-day naturalization ceremonies.

You are absolutely right! The reason I brought this up because this trend might have just changed this week:
https://www.visajourney.com/timeline/citlist.php?cfl=0&op1=9&op2=d&op4=1&op5=&op6=All&op7=Boston MA
Also, see this comment:
So I am trying to get more data on this.

It probably has been asked multiple times before but... is there any way to find out if an office does same day oaths? I am in particular interested about Boston, but this could be valuable information to others as well. For example, would they tell you this on the USCIS phone number if you can get hold of a human? Can you show up at the field office and ask them there? Any other ideas?
Thanks so much!

Hi VJ Community,
I've seen similar topics on the forum but not exactly this one - still hope it's not a duplicate one!
So my question is about filling out the N400 online and dealing with the blank fields. I know that on physical forms it is suggested to not leave fields blank and I see the same for online forms on the USCIS website: https://www.uscis.gov/file-online/tips-for-filing-forms-online:
QuoteHow to File a Form Online
Step 3: Complete all sections of your form.
We may reject your form if you leave a field blank or if you do not sign your form. Read the form instructions for information on completing fields when your answer is “zero” or “not applicable (N/A).”
Just like with the PDF edition, there are fields where the website does not allow certain characters to be entered. For example, for a non existing Middle Name, N/A would be appropriate, but the slash is not allowed. Entering None, however, would be incorrect and might even lead to a "John None Doe" situation. With the PDF, handwriting could solve this issue but you can't do that with the online form.
Does anyone have experience with this "issue"? How did you address it? Did you leave the fields blank or followed another strategy? Any input is greatly appreciated!

Does sound reassuring that most likely it is just general questions.
Thanks for sharing your experiences!

Thanks, both of you! Super helpful information.

Makes sense. They have to prove that they will be able to support their visit, and because of them being retired, it is harder to prove that than someone who is still employed.
I see. CBP besides overstay is also concerned about that a visitor doesn't become a burden on America financially. So even if they will be hosted by their family, they should still bring quite some money with them right? Should they bring bank statements? Maybe a house deed? Far as I know, they are actually doing pretty well with their retirement money.

Being retired suggests they are older and likely to be in need of having good Travel Insurance.

They just need the addess at which they will be for at least the first night in the US.even if it is a hotel .. they do not need a letter from you.. they must be able to support their own visit.
We visited some times 3 or 4 times some years... we used VWP and ESTA...
Gotya. @Boiler, I took your comment first as you trying to say that they will be put back on a plane and at least with travel insurance they could get some of their money back.
Yes, they will have good travel insurance for sure. Is that something they should show at the border, as part of their proof that they can support themselves? Or just have it ready, in case they get questioned, similarly to the amount of money with them?

Buy good Travel Insurance.
Just because they are retired? Should they have a letter with them signed by the family with contact information living in the States?
14 minutes ago, Dee elle said:We visited regularly for 13 years before immigrating. Never any issues at POE always return ticket, never overstayed, honest answer to why are you coming to the US.... visting our son and his family.
That sounds more reassuring. Yeah, no overstay in the past. Would you say you visited every year during those 13 years?
-
Hi VJ Forum,
What advice would you give to parents who are visiting their LPR and USC relatives (their son and his wife) on a visitor visa, to have no issues at POE?
They will obviously will have their return ticket (for 1 month), but what other documents could they have to show ties to their homeland? They did visit the States before a few times, but that was more than a decade ago (and they both were employed at that time).
Thanks for anything that comes into mind! Oh, and would they need to translate anything if they brought evidence with them?
-
Oh, I would not have thought that this could be good news! Anyone else with a similar ROC biometrics letter like mine? Or are you still getting CRI89 numbers as well? How about when you check your case status, what does it say: I-751 or CRI-89?
Thank you!
-
For example, mine only says for Case type: I751, and not I751 - CRI89. So not like on the example below (found on Google, from VJ). Any ideas?
-
Hi VJ Community,
Reading through many postings in the Removing Conditions sections I noticed that many of you mentioned that you received a new case number (CRI-89) with your biometrics letter, and that case number was used later on to update you on the process (instead of the I-751 case number). I just checked my biometrics letter, and it only lists my "old", I-751 case number, the one that I got in my I-751 NOA1. My biometrics letter shows this number at the top of the page (Application number box) and the bottom of the page, above the barcode. No other, different, CRI-89 case number.
So there is no information on my CRI-89 number, in fact when I put my I-751 case number to USCIS Case Status, it just returns as an I-751 update and does not mention anything about CRI-89. Is it possible to not receive this second case number? If you did get one, where exactly it is located on your biometrics letter? Should I give USCIS a call to obtain my number?
Thanks so much for your input, have a great weekend!

Hi VJ Community, I have a few documents that I think I will be sending along with my package. Do you think they make sense, are they helpful? Thanks so much!
QuoteLetter signed by LPR and USC to treat LPR as US Resident instead of nonresident alien for tax purposes to able to file married jointly.
- Nonresident Spouse Treated as a Resident: Printout from the Internal Revenue Service website explaining this election
Is this tax information necessary for them at all? In addition, our original signed letter does not have a date on it, we just filled out the paper our accountant asked us to 2 years ago.

- Copy of Enrollment form listing USC as sole beneficiary
It's a signed enrollment form, at the start of the policy. There is no recent document for them. Could that be a problem?
QuoteOur current residence is an apartment provided by LPR’s employer. The rent is subtracted from LPR’s monthly paycheck. Attached are the two paychecks that show LPR’s employer is charging us for the apartment after moving here. The rent includes utilities so we do not have any utility bills.
- LPR’s December, 2017 Paycheck
- LPR’s November, 2017 Paycheck
Our previous residence was at the parents of USC. Father and mother, USC’s parents, paid the utilities and accordingly we did not have any utility bills.
- A letter written by father on MM-DD-YYYY to show we were allowed to stay with him after moving to the United States.
- A letter signed by father on MM-DD-YYYY stating the time period that we lived in his home.
Do these documents explain our situation well enough to not to get an RFE for not having for example utility/rent bills?

Hi VJ Community,
I am posting my cover letter that I am planning to send out soon with my I-751. I hope that some of you will find it useful and I am also happy to receive any suggestions! I'm in particular interested in your input for the following documents:

- Exhibit 9, Life Insurance: It's a signed enrollment form, at the start of the policy. There is no recent document for them. Could that be a problem?
- Exhibit 12, Housing information: Do these documents explain our situation well enough to not to get an RFE for not having for example utility/rent bills?
Thank you!
