  1. It really depends on the country you are coming from. Some of the former Soviet states will also require that you relinquish your citizenship once you become a US citizen. The trouble you would have would be when traveling trying to return to your homeland or depending on the country, abroad.

The US doesn't force you to revoke your former citizenship. The US does however, require that you take an oath of allegence to the US.

  2. Also, on the G-325A biographical form, he will need to put down his current employer... which I assume is Florida.

I agree. If you are employed in Florida and claiming residency in MA it looks dishonest. If I were the officer assigned to approve your case I would wonder what else are you being dishonest about.

  3. I travel abroad quite extensively with my job. A common question is how long I am going to stay. And I will admit that in all my travel, I have only been asked for my itinerary only twice. Once in the Netherlands and once in Hong Kong. I realize buying a round trip ticket may be more expensive and you are students, but peace of mind and knowing that you are prepared so that you are not turned away would be worth the price diffence. He may not have any issue at the POE, but it may the one time that they question him extensively. With the K-1 visa, they may have him in the system and ask more questions than normal. That being said, the roundtrip ticket would support his claim of returning home. Ask yourself, would I pay the difference in price to assure he stays here until his interview?

I know you may not like our answers, but we are trying to provide an honest response.

  4. Warning, warning.......If you are not comfortable with behaviors now......odds are you won't be later. Don't expect people to change. What is your gut telling you? I think you know the answer, you just don't like the answer.

I have been with someone from a different culture, that excuse can really grow long in the tooth.

  5. I just called the IRS on Thursday afternoon, Dec. 7th. They kept me on the line and faxed them in about 15 minutes. Go to the IRS page for the phone number, it was quick, easy and they provided great customer service.

I actually filed for my tax receipt transcript (form f4506t) with the IRS on November 17th and i still have not received them back yet.

I had sent it in the mail. There was a phone number on the form that indicates you can call to order over the form but when i called that number to check on my transcript it did not have the option.

should i continue waiting or should i file again??

The transcipt was not an option in the menu, so just take the option about question about tax return. I got a live person, and she took care of everything. And best of all, it was free.

  6. i filed a few days ago and got my NOA. Today I got an email that the case has been transfered to CSC. Is this normal? I am worried as hell? Could something be wrong? help please!!!

Current Status: This case has been sent to another office for processing.

On December 6, 2006, we transferred this I765 APPLICATION FOR EMPLOYMENT AUTHORIZATION to our CALIFORNIA SERVICE CENTER location for processing and sent you a notice explaining this action. Please follow any instructions on this notice. You will be notified by mail when a decision is made, or if the office needs something from you. If you move while this case is pending, call customer service. We process cases in the order we receive them. You can use our processing dates to estimate when this case will be done. This case has been sent to our CALIFORNIA SERVICE CENTER location. Follow the link below to check processing dates. You can also receive automatic e-mail updates as we process your case. Just follow the link below to register.

This is happening to a lot of us. They're just speading the work out due to some center that are processing slower. Nothing to do with your particular application.

  7. In my I129 application I included copies of 3 visas in my passport with entry and exit stamps over the past 5 years. The last was Sept 2005. I also included a picture of Nina and me from each of the visits. Is this enough information to validate our having met in the past year?

I have a copy of my airline receipt from my last visit, but I don't have the airline stub. Do I need to forward this receipt on before an RFE is issued (I want to do anything I can so that I don't slow down the process) . Also, I gave her an ATM card so that she can pull cash for incidentals and English class, should I send the bank statements as proof of our meeting? I didn't find VJ until I had already sent my application. Any advice would be appreciated.

  8. All vj followers i wanted to ask if how close or accurate the timeline as per they adjudicate the approval in every case? I noticed my timeline changed very often i dont know why?

    Thanks,

    Boo Wilson (L)

It is just a guest, based on the time others are receiving their NOA2 from their Service Center. It changes because the service centers seem to be doing a little bit quicker job at process the K1s

  9. Me, my Fiancee, and her Son, Moved to the US November 7th, 2006 on a K1/K2 Visas. We have applied for my Fiancee's Social Security Number, and it is processing now. I have some questions about what we should do next (based on the K-1 flowchart).

    1) How do we get a Social Security number for my Fiancee's Son, so he can open a bank account, and get a drivers license when he turns 16 (he is 15 and is in the US on a K2)? From what I understand, he needs a (EAD/i-765), but it is a catch 22 because he is not old enough to work. How is this resolved?

You are putting the cart before the horse. First you will need to get married. Then you will adjust status. Until you get married your fiance and her son are non-immigrant visas

    2) I am also worried about his status when his I-94 expires, will he be able to stay in the US based on his Mother's immigration status (his Mom and I will be married of course before either of their I-94s expire).

If you marry before there I-94 expires you will just start the change of status process

    3) In step 17 of the K1 Process Flowchart it says "Apply for marriage certificate." does this mean a marriage license in your county of residence, or is there some other "federal marriage certificate" or something else that I am not aware of.

In most states: you apply for a marriage license, then you get married, the person who married you files your marriage license with the county and then a marriage certificate is issued (the issuing of the license, depending on the county/state can sometimes take a few weeks to issue and "official" certificate

Any answers would be greatly appreciated. I know I should probably make an assumption for my 3rd question, but I have misunderstood/overlooked very important details in the past and I just want to make sure that is not the situation with this.

    Thank you, j and e
