My wife had her interview in Kabul on December 3, 2017. Her case has been under administrative since then. We have had several updates since the interview that weren't due to our correspondence - the latest update being on December 5, 2018. There is really nothing you can do to expedite or waive the administrative process. Not even your state senator or congressman/woman can help you. The only option you have is to be patient and wait until the AP is complete. It is hard and frustrating to wait a long time to be reunited to your loved one, but in the eyes of the government, national security is more important than feeling of the visa applicants. Based on my correspondence with my state senator's office, I have received the following explanation as to why the administrative processing takes a long time:

Once the visa applicant is interviewed at the Consulate, the Consulate sends the case to the Department of State for further review. The State Department then sends the case to several other federal agencies to investigate. The Consulate overseas cannot adjudicate the visa until the State Department turns the case back over to them. And the State Department cannot turn the case over to the Consulate until all other federal agencies complete their investigations.

Hi Ali, any update on your wife’s visa? Thank you!

Well, it depends on case to cases and the person who interview them, I know it’s frustrating, because I am waiting for my wife’s visa too and it’s been 6 months after the interview,  21 months since we filled and we still don’t know how long more we have to wait. We just need to wait and be hopeful and that’s all we can do for now I think.

You said they have his visa, do you mean his passport or visa?

Hi Tariq! I’ve been emailing them for a month now and they haven’t been responding. My husband’s been waiting in AP since September and they have his visa but still no updates or anything. It’s frustrating because someone else who had an interview the same time as him and got AP is on their way but he’s still waiting.

  4. Hi Mursal,

Yeah they ask to bring all the original document at the time of your interview including a copy of the tax document. lets hope your husband gets his visa very soon. my wife's case is under AP and there was not any update date since July 29th, all other updates that we have is replying to our emails. once I get any update I will write it here.

    Zara,

I am glad you got your approval from USCIS, and unfortunately no I don't know how long does it take. NVC gave us our KBL exactly after two months, so I could say NVS stage is on average 2 months. hope it helps:)
