  1. Hello everyone, how long does it take after interview and consular officer requester for joint sponsor and you turned it in. So how long does it take the embassy to process it after you turn it in, though I know it varies from cases and also varies from embassy workload and locations so what's the time frame for them to issued visa after submitted the requested documents. Nigeria embassy experience would warmly welcome and appreciated. Thanks.

    I found this,

How does a financial sponsor show proof of income?

Petitioners must submit a federal tax transcript from the most recent tax year as proof of income. They must do this even if there is a joint sponsor or household member income being used to meet the Federal Poverty Guidelines. The only exception is if the petitioner was legally exempt from filing federal income taxes, in which case he or she must submit a statement indicating why they were exempt from filing. Please submit an IRS tax transcript rather than a copy of your tax return; you can find information on getting a tax transcript on the IRS’s website.

If you did not file taxes: If you did not file Federal Income Tax Returns for the most recent tax year, write and sign a statement indicating why you did not file taxes.

For those who are unemployed or retired, submit a photocopy of ongoing income from other means, such as:

    • retirement benefits;
    • other household members' income; or
    • other significant assets.

Hopefully you'll find somebody to answer your question. You can also try to join Facebook groups and maybe somebody came across this situation.

    Ok thanks

I didn't fully understand what you were asking but this is my case and my visa got approved.

-Husband has been in the Philippines for a year now and has no income close to 125% poverty line.

-We asked my mother and father in-law to be our joint sponsors. They agreed.

-My MIL and FIL are both retired, they file taxes every year jointly because they earn 25-60k a year

-My MIL retired last year and started getting her social security checks this year and she's going to be making 14k annually.

-My FIL retired years ago but has a lot of investments. His earnings per year ranges from 15k-50k annually. He hasn't collected social security because he is waiting til he gets to 70 to collect higher monthly ss.

-My FIL is my joint sponsor (i-864) and my MIL is letting my FIL use her income to sponsor me (i-864a) because they are in the same household.

    Bear in mind this fact,

"A joint sponsor must meet all the same requirements as you, except the joint sponsor does not need to be related to the immigrant. The joint sponsor (or the joint sponsor and his or her household) must reach the 125% income requirement alone. You cannot combine your income with that of a joint sponsor to meet the income requirement."

    https://www.uscis.gov/greencard/affidavit-support

Anyway, back to my mil and fil. They have submitted the following:

    -Their 2016 tax transcript.

-Social security letter to confirm how much my MIL is earning.

-Additional bank statement with the latest bank balance, just in case their earnings aren't enough or if the consul felt like my FIL's dividend earnings isn't enough proof.

All of these were scanned copies.

    https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/News/visas-news/ink-signature-no-longer-required-on-affidavits-of-support.html

Thanks and appreciated but the issue is that my mother inlaw retired long ago and she doesn't file tax at all. And her household that also want to support my mother inlaw as well doesn't file tax as well. If they both add their income it will be enough for the three of us to make the household requirement. Thanks.

  5. Hello,
Please I need to make inquiry about this. I had my interview and the consular officer said my wife didn't meet the minimum requirement and that I need to look for a joint sponsor that fill the affidavit of support form and recent US tax return and instruct me that when I finally find the co sponsor that I should drop the documents off at their drop off office with my passport. Now we have her mom ready to be the joint sponsor with one of her mom kid but they both receive social security earnings. So can this work if we show proofs and documents from the social security office showing their social security earnings for three years and also tax transcript from IRS office showing the reason why they're not filing. Thanks.

so, actually sounds like you are in better shape than most as you are being asked to drop off your passport when you have the I 864a and supporting documents

you can do nothing now except let your wife know she has to find a cosponsor / the work is up to her again at this point

BTW this may require new medical exam and criminal reports for a new interview if too long a time pases

So far your packet is still at embassy

get online or phone and let your wife do her work or the case will be returned to the US

Thank and appreciated according to the consular she said drop your passport and the documents require and hopefully in 7 to 14 working days you'll be notify about your issued visa. Now me and my wife are on the race of looking for a joint sponsor.

  7. Hello good day to you. I was done with the interview today and the co told me that everything is okay but said my wife income is not sufficient enough to sponsor me that I should let her look for a joint sponsor then returned my passport. Then she gave me a paper and checked on Joint sponsor and IRS transcript of the joint sponsor and also checked on international passport too. She asked me to drop them off both my passport and the joint sponsor when I finally see anyone to joint sponsor my wife at one of their drop off office and also gave me another paper about rule and regulation of immigrant in USA. I got home and checked visa status then it shows administrative process. To me I feel it's okay and glad I'm still in good shape but how long this is going to take after I did what she said I should do is what I don't know. Please any idea or advice about the time frame after I do what she asked. Thanks. Interview took place at Nigeria Embassy.

Questions asked during the interview are.

CO - Who's calling you to the US

CO - How and when do you met

CO - Does she work and where/ how long has she been at her current job and her position

CO - Have she been married before/ Have I been married before

CO - Does she have kid and how many/ Do I have kid and how many.

    And that's all.

You will be fine..My husband got his police certificate December 6, 2017 and his interview was this month and he got through just fine with his...Good luck on your journey...

Okay thanks and has your husband done with his interview and if yes can you please share with me his interview questions. Thanks.

Yes, that is true but I was just simply stating my experience at my interview and I watched them highlight both the issued date and the expiration date of every single police certificate I turned in.

    Okay thanks.

I disagree. If it has an expiration date, they check it. At my interview, the employee putting my documents together for the consul highlighted the expiration date on all my police certificates.

That's why I'm convinced. But I got a friend from Nigeria embassy that his police certificate was issued last year August and he had his interview in Febuary then he was fine with his interview. Thanks.

  10. Hello,

Good day to you, Please I will like to ask about my police report. I will be having interview this month and the police report that I submitted to NVC was issued in November and it stated on the police certificate that it will be expire in three months and NVC stated that police certificate are valid for 1 year so do you think I will need a new police certificate or the one I had is okay. Thanks.

My Interview was approved on the 02/15/2018 at US Embassy in Lagos Nigeria.

Im having challenges trying to create a profile with DHL courier for passport pick up.

I opened the website www.ustraveldocs.com/ng and it asked me if this is my first time applying or visiting the website for a visa?

i clicked NO because i applied for non-immigrant visa some years back using the same email.

So the website asked me to log in if i have an account already and i did with same email i used for non-immigrant visa.

i updated the information, changed from non-immigrant to immigrant, changed the visa class to CR1, change to pick up, put the address for pick up.

But its telling me to pick an appointment for the month of May 2018 after i have done my interview and got approval.

Also the DS-160 confirmation number is still showing but my visa is immigrant.

PLEASE how do i create a profile for the visa pick up?

Should i create a new profile with another email?

    thank you

Please can you share with us the question asked during the interview. Thanks and congrats.

I am pretty sure she can scan it. The NVC should have all  the info sent to them  and they should of send it to the embassy. I never mailed anything when me and my wife went thru the visa process. However you still might want a copy to take with you to your interview, which can be scan and sent to you

    Thank You. Appreciated.

A signed Affidavit of Support from your petitioner and any additional financial sponsors who submitted a Form I-864 on behalf of your visa application.  Applicants may bring photocopies and scanned versions of signed Forms I-864 and associated documents. (Please note that the form must still be signed; typed names and electronic signatures will not be accepted.)

Okay thanks I really appreciate you a lot. I will ask her to scan it to me because we're not comfortable with her mailing it so we decided to see if she can scan it and email it to me for the safety of her information.
