Send an I-90 with a fee waiver. Once you get a receipt, send the n400 with a fee waiver.

Go to the new website by clicking that link on the homepage of your dashboard "Try it now;". I've heard that it's a glitch w/ the old version and the new version corrects it.

I still have a very hard time believing that my interview just got scheduled. Not to get my hopes up, I'm hoping that they'll just reschedule it when they realize it might be a system glitch ha. ================================== Dallas/Lewisville, Texas Lockbox ================================== UserName......|GC-Date.|..Sent..|..Cashd.|NOA.....|Fprints.|In Line.|Int ltr.|Intrvw..|Oath....|Field Office.....|NBC/IOE| Judgenot......|01/31/17|11/02/17|11/07/17|11/07/17|12/07/17|--/--/--|--/--/--|--/--/--|--/--/--|Houston, TX......|IOE....|17 months AWB6129.......|02/14/15|11/18/17|11/24/17|11/24/17|12/12/17|--/--/--|--/--/--|--/--/--|--/--/--|Washington, DC...|IOE....| sjandsj.......|10/24/14|11/13/17|11/18/17|11/16/17|12/05/17|--/--/--|--/--/--|--/--/--|--/--/--|New York, NY |IOE....|9 Months krzysztof.....|01/30/13|11/15/17|11/25/17|11/26/17|12/15/17|--/--/--|--/--/--|--/--/--|--/--/--|Ft Myers, Fl.....|IOE....|7months ================================ USCIS Phoenix, Arizona Lockbox ================================ UserName..........|GC-Date.|..Sent..|..Cashd.|NOA.....|Fprints.|In Line.|Int ltr.|Intrvw..|Oath....|Field Office.....|NBC/IOE|ECD CJPitt............|08/17/11|11/04/17|11/06/17|11/08/17|--/--/--|--/--/--|--/--/--|--/--/--|--/--/--|Yakima, WA.......|.......| Neil81............|01/29/13|10/31/17|11/06/17|11/01/17|11/20/17|--/--/--|--/--/--|--/--/--|--/--/--|Denver, CO.......|IOE....| Seattleguy........|02/08/13|11/13/17|11/20/17|11/16/17|11/22/17|--/--/--|--/--/--|--/--/--|--/--/--|Seattle, WA......|IOE....|10 Months VoiceOfReason.....|10/27/14|11/20/17|11/22/17|11/22/17|12/12/17|--/--/--|--/--/--|--/--/--|--/--/--|Phoenix, AZ......|IOE....|16 Months Pakistani123......|02/10/15|11/20/17|11/25/17|11/22/17|12/11/17|--/--/--|--/--/--|--/--/--|--/--/--|San Bernardino,CA|IOE....|08 Months americanintraining|01/10/13|11/10/17|11/14/17|11/14/17|11/24/17|--/--/--|12/15/17|01/22/18|--/--/--|Seattle, WA......|IOE....|10 Months amisa.............|02/14/13|11/17/17|11/21/17|11/21/17|12/01/17|--/--/--|--/--/--|--/--/--|--/--/--|Seattle, WA......|IOE....|09 Months Macaru............|12/16/12|11/09/17|11/13/17|11/14/17|12/06/17|--/--/--|--/--/--|--/--/--|--/--/--|Los Angeles......|IOE....|12 Months ajay1685..........|02/18/15|11/24/17|11/27/17|11/27/17|12/07/17|--/--/--|--/--/--|--/--/--|--/--/--|Cleveland, OH....|IOE0903|5 months

Yes, it might be wise to also apply for a certificate of citizenship/naturalization for your own records if you are financially able.

This is very interesting... This status occurred today

Good afternoon!
I wanted to share my experience to all of you, because this thread helped me a lot!
I filed my N-400 application online on August 11, 2017.
September 7, 2017- Biometrics
December 13, 2017- Test & Interview
The IO who interviewed me for my 1st green card was the same officer who interviewed me yesterday. He is nice and professional. He asked me 6 questions which I was able to provide the correct answers. Thus, he did not ask me the 7th-10th questions anymore. He asked me to write 1 English sentence that he dictated. He also asked me to read 1 English sentence. The interview took about 45 minutes.
I told him that my I-751 is still in pending. He said, "that's weird". Then, he checked in their system, and said, "I will approve it now".
Wow that's about three months from biometrics to interview! The Denver CO seems like it's having as slow of a time as the Seattle FO so this gives me a lot of hope. Thanks!

Can anyone explain what the actual timeline looks like, because it seems so different even for the same Service Center. I had my fingerprints done on 11/01 and have not gotten any updates since. I applied by mail to the Dallas Center. I am seeing people already getting in line and even getting interview dates.
I am asking because I need to make travel arrangements soon for end of April. Its also a bit frustrating checking my Case Status a few times every day and not seeing any movement.
Please see https://egov.uscis.gov/cris/processTimesDisplayInit.do
Honestly, it'll take about 6-10 months depending on the Field Office. Unless you are worried about re-entering the country, I would just continue your life as is. I had travel arrangements in Feb and I ended up just taking my chance leaving for 15 days to see my extended family overseas.

I know... lol! But how long does it usually take? What is the current waiting period?
What's your status now?
On average, it seems that it'll take 6-8 months depending on the field office, which you can check for yourself here https://egov.uscis.gov/cris/processTimesDisplayInit.do
-
Damn, you could hire a lawyer and appeal the case.
(I'm not a lawyer fyi.) I'm not sure if it's too late for this but in the case that the appeal fails, you should perhaps apply for an I-90 to correct the error and then apply for naturalization based on that new card?

Apologies if this pertains more to immigration news than US Citizenship. I just thought that the article would have more relevance in this sub as it relates to USCIS transitioning towards ELIS for all N400 applications.
Based on the article below, it seems that the new transition to digital application has been causing some delays in adjudicating cases. It might give partial reason to why there is such a backlog (7-12 months) at some FOs for naturalization.

I heard that the number of denials for Naturalization has gone up recently. Anyone has better info?
Do you have a source for this?

My five year GC date minus one month was yesterday and I have not been placed in-line for interview. I'm wondering if USCIS still gives that status update since I've been reading that you go from biometrics straight to interview scheduling now rather than being placed in line?
-
Where does it say this...? Are they actually collecting right now?
-
You just have to wait... what's your field office?

What's the status on your case right now?

it means your fingerprint is good enough. the case will move to the next phase, FBI background check, which is the key factor determining the pending time!
Are you sure? My case never went to that intermediate step. I got my biometric done and in a few hours it turned into "We reviewed your biometrics"... Surely there's no way they could've finished a background check that quick.
-
Contact a lawyer.
It sounds like an curt response but it's the only appropriate one answer for such a unique case.
Otherwise, make an InfoPass appointment and say you never got your name change certificate and bring an old form of document that you used to acquire your I-551 (Green Card). Also get something in writing that the court does not have any record of a name change certificate.
-
That's incredibly strange.
I don't think employees can sign up for E-Verify. That's just something employers do.
-
It's the default status after they receive your biometrics.
I don't believe you'll hear anything else until you are in line for an interview or when your interview has been scheduled. Although I've read somewhere here that they've stopped alerting people that they are now in line to be scheduled for an interview so I suppose it goes straight to "we've scheduled your interview."

Just FYI... I paper-filed in July, and have my interview 2nd week of January 2018 in Portland, Oregon.
Congrats! I'm jealous, I just wish that the Seattle FO just send my file down to Portland for faster processing.
-
Get your passport first. It takes anywhere from a day to 10 days for SAVE to be updated for the Social Security Administration to verify w/ USCIS that you are indeed a naturalized citizen.
But I have heard that even if you go on the day of, they end up copying your naturalization certificate and processing it a few days later anyways. So I suppose whatever is the most convenient for you.
-
Another strange thing.
I logged into the old ELIS site and it said that my interview notice has been scheduled and mailed to me but if I check my case at egov and the new my account experience, there is no status change–just a simple “we have reviewed your biometrics”.
So it might be a bug but we’ll see if I get a notice anytime in the next few weeks

Well, just one thing, really. Happened last November.
It's well known that naturalization processing times spike up during presidential election years. When Obama was running for his two terms, a lot of people applied for naturalization hoping to vote for (or against) him. The same during the last election cycle w/ Clinton (or Sanders) vs Trump. I'd imagine a lot of people are continuing to apply for naturalization with the rhetoric this current administration is putting out. There is no way to guarantee your stay in the United States w/o become a US citizen.
US Citizenship automatically revokes previous citizenships?
in US Citizenship General Discussion

The US does not recognize dual citizenship but they don't prevent it either (i.e you're a citizen of the US first and foremost).
I know Canada isn't strict with it either and they allow dual citizenship but certain countries like South Korea, China, etc DO NOT allow for dual citizenship. You automatically lose your citizenship in those countries when you naturalize and people who try to skirt around this by not reporting it to the former country's consulate will face issues traveling. In this day and age with APIS and biometrics, it's pretty easy to find out who holds dual nationality and who doesn't.
However, if you naturalize in other countries while holding US citizenship, based on your statements showing intent of giving up US citizenship (i.e many countries have naturalization oath that states you'll give up other citizenship, etc), you can relinquish your US citizenship by choice.
