I know, it feels so crazy!!! I am trying to figure out what to do with my day once I arrive because I’m gonna be so nervous and distracted all day. :P

🤩we are headed to the airport now to fly out for our 9am apt tomorrow! I know we are fully prepared but this feels crazy, it’s finally time!

We only have the regular police clearance and nonprivacy act RCMP police clearance. The privacy act one is still in the mail and was sent more than a week ago (thanks for nothing Canada post). You guys think we’re ok with only 2 police clearances? My winning smile will pull us through 😁!

    ttyl Good luck Arellah too!

I would encourage you to email the consulate and ask if this applied to folks who will submit the police certificate to NVC before 10 September AND/OR to the people who will interview before 10 September?

It will be a great help for the rest of us. I am going to be calling NVC tomorrow, and see if they give a meaningful answer.

    Hi Darth and company!

we’ve got our interview in Montreal for Ir1/cr1 visa Nov 27th! Hooray. And we were documentarily qualified when the case closed (cc) more than 2montgs ago.

How do I figure out if the new police requirements pertain to us?

I thought they they would have rejected our initial police clearance from the regular police station if it wasn’t good enough????

    thanks for helping!

Thanks for clearing things up, I have checked my current options and I'll have to request for a criminal background check (by name/date of birth) in Montreal when I get there tomorrow. Im relieved that their processing time is 24 to 48 hours with the Corps des Commissionnaires du Québec. But I will call to confirm with them.

and best wishes on your interview

    Hi guys:

so so where does one go to acquire this new, “one that was implemented in September was the ‘non certified/privacy act’ version which searches all criminal records, including records that have been expunged.”

do I get this at the police dept? Or somewhere else?

hello everyone! my husband just had his interview this morning at 9am (eastern) and got his "Welcome to the United States" letter!!! I was unable to go to Montreal with him due to time constraints (interview was scheduled about 2 weeks ago). He flew in last night from Vancouver, checked into the hotel had a sleepless anxious night (as did I!!!!) and got to the consulate at 8:05 am.  He was called to hand in the papers at around 9:20 am (the longest wait was to turn these in). Waited for a little bit for the interview and the interview only took 5 minutes. In and out by 10 am. He said everyone was super friendly (including the guards) and the lady that interviewed him was very appreciative that he brought all of the necessary documents, copies, and then some (my OCD organized it all and put post-its to make it dummy proof). Due to his job he cannot stick around and wait for his passport so we have opted to still have it delivered regardless of how long it takes.

    just some notes:

He had BOTH types of police reports, our case was done online before they changed the rules about the police reports. Luckily we were able to get the second one in time. The interviewer took both and was pleased he had them both done.

The questions they asked were super easy, how did we meet? when did we meet? have you ever been out of North America in the past 5 years? No curve ball questions.

This was the easiest part of the ENTIRE visa process. But I will tell you that even though we read all of the reviews online, were 100% prepared with extra information in case they asked, and were completely aware this would be a breeze, it was still the most stressful part. I was sick to my stomach with anticipation, anxiety, etc. I am so glad this is done and over with!

Thanks for the details! Our interview date is Nov 27th. I had no idea there were multiple police checks. We just went to the  local police station in Windsor, ON. And they gave us a mailed police clearance with a seal. How could I confirm which type of report I have? How do I verify and validate that I have the correct one?

Now I m concerned we don’t have the correct police clearance:-(

thanks for any help you can give
