  1. I am worried about renewing my passport and being able to travel back and forth UK to US.

My British passport is due to expire at the end of July. We filed all the US paperwork (AOS, travel doc, EAD) and it was received by the Visa centre November 2018. We have not heard back from USCIS about when we will be receiving any of these documents, they are still being processed; I thought I would at least have the EAD and travel doc back by now as it is over 90 days.

I am worried about renewing my passport (sending certified mail back to UK) as my k-1 visa in my passport has not been updated. I am worried about getting a new passport sent back to me without the I-94 stamp that showed my original entry to the US associated with that visa.

Will this be a problem? Does anyone have any experience with this, having to renew their British passport before they have received I-131 travel doc?

    Thanks!

  2. I think this is a very stupid question with possibly a very obvious answer (I may be overthinking everything!!)

I am on the K-1 visa and got married within the 90 days. I am in the process of filling out paperwork to adjust my status (I-485, I-765, I-131).

The forms require you to state your current immigration status. I have been confused trying to figure out whether this is still the K-1 visa status or if it has changed since I got married. (I realise I am applying for adjustment of status so I think I may still be K-1!) I was on the phone for half an hour with USCIS, asked them this same question just for clarification and they refused to give me even a generic answer. They said that I had to instead book an appointment at my local office to discuss my status.

If any one can please clarify the exact terminology I should use on the forms, it would be greatly appreciated! I think my brains on form filling out overload.

    Cheers!

That's an idea.. didn't want to have to pay any more than we had to but I as I understand it the regular shipping fee is already £45 so I guess what's £35 for some peace of mind??

I was just reading your post about your Knightsbridge experience! I found it really helpful because I've read some horror stories.. haha. Do you have any idea how long it will take for the medical to reach the embassy? (I know the dreaded question everyone asks but no one seems to have an answer to.. haha) I know that we're not supposed to have a desired timeline because anything can happen to slow it down but we REALLY want to be back to the US by mid-October so we're trying to process everything as quickly as possible. 😭

In our case Knightsbridge messed up her paperwork. Told her it was sent out, when it clearly wasn't. She calls embassy to verify it was in fact there, it wasn't. Then she calls back a day later, they tell her she NOW needs an additional statement from her Dr. She then sends in requested document, they then tell her it wasn't necessary, that it was sent out 3 week's ago!!!!! Then tell her it's going to be sent out that day. Three different stories!!!! Her Medical was on July 28th. We thought we were going to be ok with her scheduled Embassy interview on August 8th. Well........it wasn't ok. They didn't receive her medical records until August 20th. Over 3 week's it took for her records to get to the embassy. She even went in, in person on a Saturday to talk with the  staff to tell them what was going on, that she couldn't get a straight answer from anyone. Knightsbridge was nothing but BS!!!! Misinformation after misinformation. Nobody there would give us a straight answer until around August 15th. I know our experience with them caused us a lot of stress!!! As far as I'm concerned....... they're a bunch of IDIOTS!!!

  4. I really appreciate all the advice me and Polly have received throughout this sometimes stressful process. This website has been a tremendous help. So I have another question for people who have gone through the process of shipping clothing and other similar items to the USA. Not which company to use. I think we've possibly found a good one https://www.parcelhero.com/

Question is this, how difficult is the paperwork and how many different documents do you need to complete, one or two, or more? Filling out your declared items and other paperwork needed, is it all found online, or do the shipping companies provide all of the needed paperwork?? And the confusing part is how to pick it up once it arrives in the US? I see "door to door" service or picking it up at the Port. I've been on the US customs website and it is a little bit confusing as to who can pick it up? Does it have to be a US citizen? Does Polly have to ship it in my name then? Or can she ship it to herself here in the US? And I don't understand this "door to door shipping"?? So you can bypass the Port, and have UPS deliver it to your home address after it clears customs? Sorry if this sounds stupid. I just don't want any problems with her stuff being shipped/getting here.

My hope is that others who have gone through this process could give us some information.

Thanks in advance once again, Curt

Go for it! I responded to your other post but please let me know if I can help in any other way :) :)

Knightsbridge verified my medical was sent out last week when I called them Friday August 10th, they said they were sent out at the beginning of the week. Again my Visa interview was August 8th. For three working days now the Embassy will not verify that my medical is there???? This is getting REDICULOUS!!!!

  6. Is there a way to verify that the medical packet is indeed at the Embassy?? I've tried to look through the forums here for answers. My interview is tomorrow. It will be 8 working day's since medical appointment. I'm just worried it's not there yet. I've called both Knightsbridge and the American Embassy with no answers. Thanks for any info you can provide.

Well the photos I was asked for were just the 2 passport size ones of myself. However, I took a whole folder of evidence and a photo album with almost 100 pictures with me  Didn't need any of it, at all.

Congratulations. We're almost there. I was hoping you could tell me how long before you got your Visa and passport back?? Thanks in advance.

    Hi All,

I was approved for my K1 visa last week and collected my passport today from the courier in central London.

Upon opening the package to retrieve my passport I checked to see the envelope I must hand in at POE was there (it was), however, I noted my police certificate and SAR was included separately in the package as well.

I may not be up to date on things but I'm almost certain the police documents should be included inside the envelope that I had in at POE. Does this seem correct?

FYI - the envelope itself is still completely sealed and there's no evidence of it being opened. It just seems like they forgot to add the certificate and SAR in to the envelope and just bunged it in separately. I'm worried this might cause me issues at POE next week.

    Has anyone had similar issues?

Can I ask.....how long did it take to get your Visa and passport back?

  9. Has anyone else had a problem receiving their ACRO Police report in the supposed 10 day time period? It's now going on there week's. Called today and was told they have a higher volume of requests at this time and will take longer.

Hi to anyone who can help!

I really need some clarification as to how best to obtain my UK NHS medical reports/records that are acceptable by the Knightsbridge clinic.

I have read and heard lots of conflicting options from various places (including my GP).

When I asked my Doctors surgery, they said I had to fill out a Subject Access request form (SAR) which provides a copy of your medical records in a minimum of 5 days, maximum of 21 days. They said this would cost £10 and any extra pages would cost more, but that they would contact me with the total price when it had been copied.

I have read on here that a Summary Care records (SCR) is acceptable by the Knightsbridge clinic and that this can be obtained by logging online with a username and password that your doctors surgery can provide within as little as an hour.

Does anyone have any advice as to which is the best, quickest and most accepted option to provide for the medical examination.

    Thanks in advance!!

  12. Again I apologise for maybe repeating something already asked. But navigating through these forums seems difficult at times.

My question is this.......the Embassy interview was already made for July 16th. The medical examination at Knightsbridge will be made tomorrow. Obviously from what I've seen medical appointments are about 4 week's out.

How far behind will that put us doing things in that order, rather than just waiting until the medical appointment is made, switching the Visa interview for about 10 days later, after the medical examination is booked, compared with just keeping it the way it is. Won't that just take longer if she has her medical examination and the documents sent to the Embassy, (after first having Visa interview), and then having the Embassy look at everything and then send her the documents, passport and Visa back to her??

I seem to have read somewhere that this will take longer. Sorry again, just can't seem to find those conversations, links.

  13. I have been searching through these forums, getting a lot of information on what's required in the USA for vaccines. I understand you don't have to have them to enter the USA. But that it will cost a lot more over here in America compared with getting them done in the UK. I have spent the last two hours searching on here and on the CDC website. I'm exhausted trying to find out the correct information for what my fiance will need as far as her vaccines before she gets her medical examination. I know from what I've been reading that some are age appropriate, some are seasonal like the flue vaccine. But the Hep B vaccine has me confused. I need a answer that's correct. It appears that she doesn't need it for her age??? I know when I got my Hep B shot for my job, year's ago, that it was a series of 3 shots. That would take month's to get done. So that's why I'm confused. Will she need it in the USA or not?

What exactly does she need before she gets here, that she can take care of there? For her AOS to go forward.

  14. I know this has been addressed a little while back, but I'm hoping for some current information on how long medical appointments are taking to get into at Knightsbridge. Is there anybody who has booked an appointment this week, or last week?? Are things slowing down a bit now? Thanks in advance.
