For the most part, a child born to a US citizen has the right to citizenship upon birth anywhere in the world. You do not need to file an I-130 for him/her. As others have said, if the US citizen is the child's father and his name is on the birth certificate then you'll need to do a Consular Report of Birth Abroad. Do it as soon as you can.

And yes, if you both reside in the Philippines then you can do DCF. It's only available in a few countries and it drastically reduces the processing time of a CR1/IR1. These normally take 12-14 months from submission to having the visa in hand. My wife and I recently did DCF in Mexico and our processing time was less than 7 weeks, 10-12 months less than the average.

VisaJourney has a DCF specific forum, http://www.visajourney.com/forums/forum/82-direct-consular-filing-dcf-general-discussion/ and there are several posts about the Philippines.

    What is a DCF

The CR1 visa has income requirements so that the spouse won't rely on government assistance right away I heard.  I plan to sponsor her by assets because my salary for 2017 was low.  Is it true that if she comes to America she won't be eligible for public assistance (such as health insurance) as a green card holder? I would have to wait until she's a citizen right?

She cannot apply for any assitance for 5 yrs i was told by a friend who is a GC holder

    Hi guys!

I just found this thread and I will be glad to be on this journey with you all. I am an American citizen and filed for my husband on July 21st, Received my NOA1 on the 28th with priority date 25th. My case was sent to Nebraska and from reading all the posts, am guessing its going to be a long wait. Have any of you heard back on your applications? Thanks

We have exact same priority date and center

Hey guys, just found this thread. We applied in July, 13th specifically. Sent to Texas center, still waiting. Most recent update says Texas is processing US Citizen apps from Feb 2nd 2017 but according to the uscis website that is the date of processing approximately 45 days ago. The website says there is a 45 day lag time in the reported on their site.

For interest sake, and for those that may not have the link I’ll add the link below.

So, by my best guess, uscis should at least be in to processing for March but I don’t know for sure. Uscis updates the processing times on the 15th of the month according to their website. So, in a few days we should see the most current(as of 45 days ago) processing dates

    https://egov.uscis.gov/cris/processTimesDisplayInit.do

if the link works properly simply scroll down, select your processing center, then search. This is the uscis site so presumably the most updated and accurate. If the link doesn’t work simpl google “uscis processing times” and it’s bound to be a link you’ll see immediately

good of luck and I’ll post any updates on my end

    Chris

Hi, i am a Nebraska August 2017 Filer. I am US citizen and married in July 2017 and filed I-130 in August , PD is 16 August 2017.

How i should file my Tax Return 2017 , married filing separately or married filing jointly. can i file joint tax return with my spouse as she is not living is USA. She is abroad now. I will appreciate all the answers and wishing all the best to all the filers. bye.

In order to file with your spouse my bookkeeper told me you must have a ITIN number for your spouse and to get one you would need her original passport.  Then you can file with her.

    Hello everyone!

My husband and I sent our I-130 on the 26th and got our text notification yesterday, the receipt date being the 31st. Not sure yet if our priority date is going to be in July or August though (I assume it's the 31st?).

Sadly, our case is being processed in Nebraska so it seems we have a long wait ahead of us.

    Good luck to everyone!

Why does everyone say NSC takes longer?  Have you recieved any new forms?
