  1. Just thought we'd mention this for anyone seeking a place to stay in Manila before the interview.

We are staying in the Boulevard Mansion which is on Roxas right accross from the embassy. We're staying a month and paying 25,000php. It is fairly quiet considering everything that goes on around here. We can't hear the clubs that line the streets below. The mall is a short walk or very brief taxi ride up the street. We'd highly recommend it to anyone looking for somewhere to stay in Manila. We've been here a week already and have no complaints at all. The service is good, the room is clean and comfy and the air conditioner works great.

Would you be kind enough to give me their contact details? Thanks!

    Mae

  3. Ok we concede. Thanks a lot people! No wonder americans ignore and give eachother dirty looks when over seas, add me to that list now. We've posted several items that dont get responses so this is it for us on VJ. Good luck and hope karma doesnt come bite anyone in the butt when they have questions and need help too.

Gee, go figure. Think you just bit yourself in the butt.

Yeah bit myself in the butt because I ask for help and don't receive it? Do explain.

  5. Yeah there are people who get issued two visas. Also people who supposedly requested a CF1 at the time of K3 and received it. Of course we want the CR1. We're planning on going to both, I think it would be stupid not to ignore the first interview and at least request a CR1 then if nothing else. But my question was what if we didnt say anything about the CR1 on K3 day and ended up getting both? Any implications with that etc?

  6. I can't keep track of that huge Manila thread so I thought I'd go for it out here. We have a K3 interview this coming 16th of May and CR1 on the 30th. Has anyone ever just interviewed for both without mentioning to the embassy they have another interview soon? I think it would be cool to do both and have both visas. Kind of a security blanket. But on the same token it would be nice to tell them and try to get the CR1 on the 16th instead of the 30th if at all possible.

My question is are there any risks involved with that?

2nd question about the medical. Since we have 2 interviews I assume 1 medical exam is OK? So like if we interviewed for K3 on the 16th and then the CR1 on the 30th, the initial medical will be there at the embassy for them to access yes?

    Thanks in advance.

  7. If i understood well, and am correct ( i have read it here of what i believe a good source) you have 6 months timeframe in which you can activate the k-3 visa at the POE; it gives you time to wait for the cr-1 visa. It depends of how long you want to wait...and/or i would make sure with the cr-1 intervier...in some cases, at the nvc level, sometimes they stop the i-130 visa to let people continue with the I-129; i don't know if it applies here, but...this parralel work on 2 visas...i still try to understand the logic...Good luck!

Please give us an update. We are about to go though exactly what you did. We are trying to figure out if we should interview for BOTH K3 and CR1 or what but never had any solid replies here yet. We of course want the CR1, but it would be cool to have the K3 in hand also before our CR1 JUST IN CASE. Any other experience here would be greatly appreciated.

  8. I've had varying experiences with riding the bus. Mostly it's not fun whatsoever, especially when the bus is crowded and even more when your near someone who's sick or something. On a posative note, I had 1 good bus ride (greyhound Denver to Phoenix) when the bus was not so full and the people were friendly and not anti social. We didnt sing songs going down the road hehe, but it's nice to chit chat every now and then.

Sure it's nice to see things but you see too much on the bus, stopping at every mom and pop 1 horse town along the way. I would definately take a plane before a bus again.

  9. Can we attend both the CR1 and K3 interviews? If so what might the outcome be? Our K3 is May 16 and our CR1 is May 30. We want the CR1, but were told we could go to the K3 and request the CR1. With a CR1 interview pending is that wise of us to do still? Or just wait? We'd certainly LOVE to get back to the US sooner and if we can secure the CR1 on the 16th would be great.

Also, if they issues a K3 on the 16th and not CR1, can we still go on the 30th and get the CR1???

  10. Well, I did call the embassy and they said we can't have CR1 in place of K3. However, It's not uncommon to receive different stories from them in my experience. And I had seen a few things suggesting otherwise here as well. I will call again and ask.

Even my lawyer said go to the K3 interview and request the CR1. I guess our biggest fear is going for the K3 and they DON'T allow us to interview for CR1 on that day. Then what? We don't want to be issued a K3 in place of a CR1 which the interview date for that is 2 weeks later.

I know it's not uncommon for people here to have 2 interviews scheduled about the same time.

  11. As you can see we have a K3 on the 16th and CR1 on the 30th. We obviously want the CR1. Do we just simply ignore the K3 visa interview and go on teh 30th? Or can we \ should we go on the 16th and TRY to get a CR1 instead? Would there be any implications? We don't want any troubles.

Is it still good that we pay that 100 dollar fee for K3 anyway? Just to cover bases?

go to both. if she gets the k3 but not the cr1 for some reason she can come to the states. if she passes on both then travelon the cr1 and not the k3. if she travels on the k3 you will have to do a aos for the cr1. what is 2 more weeks. you have gone this far already.

Well yeah, we want the CR1 not the K3. Isnt there some sort of confusion or delay if we go to both? I thought I had read here somewhere that someone did that and something got all boogered up with it all.

I didnt even know we COULD get both. It's like the right hand doesnt know what the left is doing.. The embassy has no clue we have been through double processing then?

  13. Greetings everyone. Just wanted to toss this out for people to see.

We had been expecting our packet 4 and come to find out it had been sitting at the local DHL facility in Cebu for a week. They told us that they had nobody to deliver it and asked us to come and get it. God forbid this happens to anyone on a tighter schedule, so I thought I would throw this out so people can make follow ups with DHL.
