Are there any others out there with an MSC processing number still waiting for an interview? I filed in Sept 2019, did my biometrics in Oct 2019, and have been at "case is ready to be scheduled for an interview" since March 2020.

We're in the same boat. MSC # and ready for interview since March of 2020. We also applied for naturalization November 2020. Don't know what's taking so long...

Hi @HoustonCPA1989, congrats on getting your expedite approved and I hope by now your family is together. I wanted to see how your case went as I just had my expedite for severe financial loss accepted and I-130 accepted on Feb 12, then today Feb 14 my case was sent to NVC. How long did it take you to get your NVC case number? Did you expedite the case at NVC also? Any insight would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!!

It takes about 2 weeks. Just keep calling everyday until you get assigned a case #. It is actually up to the Embassy to expedite. The NVC will ask the Embassy to expedite the case. So it's a 50/50 chance. My case was approved for expedite at the embassy. However, I think they expedited it because my wife was pregnant. I could be wrong... Good luck!

Fairly straightforward process. Ds160 and interview determine the rest.

I apologize if I didn't clarify. I have already submitted everything and my mother in law's interview is next month. I am just trying to get a feel for what we need in order to have a more successful outcome.

Is her daughter (your wife) currently in the US? Tourist visa application asks to disclose any close relatives in the US.

Yes she is. I disclosed it. She has 4 children. My wife and 3 others who live in her home country ages 25, 15 & 12

  5. All,

My mother in law would like to come visit for about a month. She would be coming around the time my wife(her daughter) will be giving birth. She is 44, married with 3 kids in her home county being of ages 25, 15 & 12.

Do you guys think she has a good chance of obtaining a tourist visa? One could argue she has compelling social ties(husband and 3 kids in her home country). What is the best way for her to demonstrate this during her interview?

  6. I received a statement from the National Visa Center regarding my spouse’s visa application. The notification states that “The Consular Section will contact you to schedule your visa interview once they receive your case file.”. However, the U.S. Department of State-Consular Electronic Application Center Case Status update states that we must schedule the interview. See below:

Do we need to schedule the interview or will the US-Embassy schedule it for us? We also need to schedule a medical exam; however, the approved physician is saying we must have a letter from the embassy stating our interview date and time. I am assuming we need some sort of letter with the appropriate letterhead.

Thank you for considering this matter. Your help is greatly appreciated.

  7. All,

Need a little help here. I was able to expedite my case at NVC. I paid all the fees, submitted the DS-261, but they sent my case to the US Embassy before I could submit the DS-260. I have a few questions?

    • How long does it take for a case to be sent to the US Embassy(How long does it take to transit to an embassy)? The embassy is in Lebanon.
    • Do we still file the DS-260 on the CEAC website?
    • We did not get an interview date, so how do we schedule that?

    Your help is greatly appreciated.

  8. Just received a response:

"The status of this service request is:

Your request has been forwarded to the proper department for further review. You should receive a decision or notice of other action shortly.

We hope this information is helpful to you."

When I tell someone I'll get back to them shortly, I mean 10-20 minutes. It's been 3 days...

Does anyone know how long it takes to expedite?

I'm not sure how this information is supposed to ''calm down''' those of us that have waited 8 months, or those that continue to wait after 10 months or a year. It doesn't matter if Nebraska ''figured it out now'' we are still waiting 4-6 months over other centers.

Don't get me wrong, I'm glad if it means they're finally doing something about it so the next quarter applicants get to receive their approvals in a timely fashion, it just doesn't change the fact that those of us who applied between November 2016 and March 2017 got screwed over.

I wasn't trying be insensitive. I apologize if I came off that way. Good luck with everything.

Hello guys, here is my story..in need of some advice. My dad filled i-130 on april 18th. I got an rfe on 27th September asking for evidence of Father-child. Here is the situation. My dad never married my mum, he married someone else but he has been supportive financially.. Paid for all my tution fee all the way up to campus. Something else is, his name was never included in my birth cert. Infact.. My mum raised me by herself so.. No one else's name was written as my father. I need massive ideas how we can handle this. I'd really appreciate all your contributions coz I so much want an approval on my i-130.

    Thanks

    financial or emotional support.

  11. All,

Everyone needs to calm down and remain patient. It looks like USCIS has shifted the workload from Nebraska to the Texas Service Center.

    Data Below:

From Oct 1- December 31, 2016 Nebraska received about 64,000 petitions; approved 26,000.

From Oct 1- December 31, 2016 Texas received about 22,000 petitions; approved about 20,000.

From Jan 1-March 31, 2017 Nebraska received about 28,000 petitions; approved about 35,000.

From Jan 1-March 31, 2017 Texas received about 46,000 petitions; approved about 17,000.

From April 1-June 30, 2017 Nebraska received about 26,500 petitions; approved about 30,000.

From April 1-June 30, 2017 Texas received about 41,000 petitions; approved about 25,600.

It looks like USCIS recognized the imbalance in Q1 of 2017 and has shifted the majority of the incoming I-130 petitions to the Texas Service Center. It looks like Nebraska is the more efficient service center. It just was receiving too many cases.

So this is the problem, my email address was wrong so they could only read me the letter over the phone which states that it was sent to a supervisor for review. i found someone else that had a similar letter (remember I can't read mine) and theirs was approved to expedite and by sending it to a supervisor means it was approved. I am just hoping that someone can confirm this

They said they sent an email to the wrong email address as well. The funny thing is on the uscis website it says they completed my request in 7 days but I called like 15 days after and they said it had not been assigned yet. It's a bunch of BS if you ask me.

  13. Hi all,

Hurricane Harvey victim here. I requested an expedition of my case on 09/12/17 and have yet to hear from USCIS. My house got completely destroyed with about 5.5' of water. Unfortunately, I was uninsured so I have to take a $200k loan out to fix my house. On top of that, I have to pay for my apartment that I am currently staying in and I am paying for my wife's living expenses abroad. As many of you can imagine, this has caused an extreme financial burden on me and a huge financial loss. Everything I have been working for since graduating 5 years ago, gone. I wrote my congressman to see if he could somehow help me expedite my case. He sent me an email and said he would contact them. I hope he can help.

USCIS has yet to ask for evidence or assign my case to a caseworker. Do you guys think I will have any success?

    *EDIT-wife is also pregnant.
