Congratulations! I am waiting for an interview date in London.

please can I ask you for advice on how you have or will arrange health insurance for your mom? It looks really expensive.

    Thanks

Yes, it is very expensive especially when you aren't used to having to pay directly for healthcare! My mum is not planning to work in 2018 and is living with us so I will claim her as a dependant on my taxes and am planning to apply for her coverage through the exchange. Based on our household income and the fact that she is my dependent, the cheapest insurance is $320 a month.  We will also apply for the local healthcare system's coverage for low income residents ( NOT considered a public charge to do either of these things. It works in such a way that it picks up what insurance won't, so long as she uses the local university hospital and doctors. It insures that all eligible individuals receive medically necessary care at participating health care places). Between these two things I am comfortable with her having the cheapest option on the exchange that has less coverage overall.

Car insurance is also high because she will be treated like a teenage driver due to lack of history.

Congratulations!  We are in London too and on the nvc stage.  My son has applied for me and my husband.  If you don't mind can you share what sort of questions they asked your mom as we will be having an interview in a few months at London embassy so want to get an idea.  Thanks!

They only asked her why she was going to the states sand what my job was here (since she is moving over to be closer to me). That's it! Also, they only asked to see birth certificate, police certificate and divorce papers.

Good luck! Once we were finished at NVC (that took us 12 long weeks), it has only taken 4 weeks total approved so it was very, very fast at London.

  3. My mum had her medical on the 1st March and they requested an additional letter from her GP which she got to them by the Tuesday 6th (with the heavy snow I doubt they had the blood tests back much before then so I don't think this letter delayed anything). They told her it was couriered to the embassy on the 8th and her interview was today, the 12th and the medical was there.

Thank you.  I will keep tracking your timeline.  Also would be helpful to know what sort of questions they will ask at the interview.

Well I didn't expect to update so soon but we received the email in early hours with an interview date of march 12th! Wow! The case completed last Friday and we had the interview date only a few days late on wednesday. Medical is booked for the 3rd which is closer that I would like but she is going very prepared with Dr notes and history etc. A week ago I was in total anguish that the case had been at NVC for 12 weeks with no news at all. Keep hanging on everyone!

  5. My case finally completed at NVC after 12.5 weeks! I really think it fell through the cracks somehow as they say the review period is 11 weeks (and I see most get reviewed by 6-8 weeks) but I kept being told 11 weeks and there was nothing they could do etc. I contacted my senator and congressman at 11 weeks and they followed up and it was sent to supervisor review and completed last week. Thank goodness! My mum is now in line for an interview in London. The NVC process is crazy but I'm glad we are done with it now. Good luck to everyone waiting and make sure you advocate for yourselves with the NVC by calling them and whoever else is necessary!

  6. Hi, depsite trying to be patient, tomorrow will be 11 weeks since my documents were scanned. I've called numerous times and been given the wait 11 weeks speech and that they have my DS260 and received my docs etc etc but I am wondering what happens next. My case sponsoring my mum seems straight forward but I feel like I have somehow falling through the cracks (this happened with my own GC application a few years back and I had to do an infopass for that to get them to review it. Very frustrating). I was told that at 11 weeks they could request a supervisor review but I am not sure what that means or how long that usually takes. any ideas? I'm getting really upset and frustrated at this point! Thanks!

  7. I’m really trying hard to be patient but my scan date is 11/14/17 for my mother’s petition. It’s now almost 10 weeks and I have seen so many people get their case complete between 4-6 weeks. I’ve called numerous times and they’ve checked that docs are received and that they’ve received the DS260 and just keep telling me that the 11 weeks is up on 1/30 and that I must keep waiting.

Has anyone else recently had this part take so long? The last person on the phone told me that the length of time it takes to process is due to country and type of petition (London, IR5 for me). I’m starting to get pretty stressed out about how long this is taking and am concerned something is wrong. What happens if 1/30 comes around and they have not reviewed my case yet? Thanks

    I found the W-2s!!!

It's confusing though because even on the letter that is requesting the W-2s it specifically states, "In lieu of the U.S. federal tax return and W-2, a sponsor may submit an IRS-issued transcript." That's exactly what we did. I don't understand why it wasn't accepted. Nevertheless, I'm emailing them to my mother-in-law so she can print them out and hand deliver them in person tomorrow.

Don't worry about your stuff. We got everything submitted on 10/27 and didn't get the interview notice until the 12/13. It looks like you submitted your documents about a month after we did and there were the holidays that probably delayed it a week or so too. I'm guessing you'll get yours any day now. Stay positive! :)

yay!! I think I submitted both because we filed taxes jointly and a transcript doesn't show the breakdown of our separate income (and I'm the only one sponsoring my mother). It IS very confusing though and I sent it but wasn't totally certain it was the right thing to do and I was concerned they would think that my wife is a cosponsor because I sent her W2 as well as mine (still am!) . Now you've found them, no issues!

I am trying so hard to be patient!

So, my mother-in-law was rejected because she didn't' have mine and my wife's W-2 from 2016. We sent her our 2016 IRS Tax Transcript but apparently that wasn't good enough. I don't know what to do because we weren't able to find our W-2's and I no longer work for the company I did in 2016. I contacted them and they no longer have it. My wife can get her W-2 but it takes a week through her employer. Ugh...

Oh no! I believe they specifically request the W2s in addition to the transcript if you and your wife file jointly. I sent both mine and my wife's W2s from 2016 even though my wife is not sponsoring my mother. Your previous employer should be able to give you copies of all w2s. There is a law that employers keep them for 4 years. You got to this stage so quickly! I submitted my docs and they were scanned 11/18 but I still havent heard anything.

  10. I only attached the most recent years tax transcript since my w2 from the previous year was a little too close to the required amount as I'd had a nice pay rise this year. My attorney said if it doesn't help the case by showing more money then we leave it out. I also checked and my wife also only included the most recent tax return when sponsoring me for my green card a few years ago.

  11. I am the petitioner for my mum and used I864EZ even though I am married filing jointly. My immigration lawyer friend who we consulted with agreed this was correct. I meet the requirements from my W2s and I sent a copy of my W2 and also included a copy of my wife's (as it says to send all W2s and 1099s related to the return) but hand wrote on hers that it was sent only to show the breakdown of our income and that I am the ONLY sponsor. I haven't heard anything yet as I sent all docs a few weeks ago....

    Hi everyone,

I got the approval letterof I-130 half a month ago, saying my petition has been sent to the NVC and they will contact the beneficiary. So I can call the NVC now for a case number and invoice Id or have to wait 30 days as instructed in the approval letter?

    Thanks

Definitely call and get the info needed over the phone as it will speed things up a bit

Everything was submitted online on 10/27. Got the case complete notice on 11/9. Still waiting on the interview date notice though.

So, it only took 2 weeks from you submitting your docs to get a case complete? How did they let you know it was completed? Did you call or was it in a email? I submitted my docs with a scan date of 11/14 but I'm not sure if I should be calling them or waiting for an email/letter. I would not have expected anything for another month or so until reading how quickly yours was completed.

Got an email from the NVC on 11/9 stating:

"The National Visa Center (NVC) has received all of the fees, forms, and documents that are required prior to attending an immigrant visa interview at a U.S. Embassy overseas.

NVC will work with the U.S. Embassy in RIO DE JANEIRO, BRZL to schedule an interview appointment for you. Once we have confirmed an interview date, we will send a notice to you, your petitioner and attorney (if applicable)."

We're still waiting for the interview date/time notice. Anyone know how long it takes to get this once NVC receives everything?

Wow, you already got a case complete from NVC? That's awesome. How long from the  scan date did it take?

  15. I just got confirmed scan date today 11/14. The package only got delivered yesterday so I'm happy they scanned it right away. So, 11 weeks is the official time to wait but it looks like some are getting completed case before then. Is it just luck? Should I be calling at any point to find out info? I am the petitioner and my mum is the beneficiary. I checked everything thoroughly but am worried about getting a checklist.

    good luck to everyone waiting!

  16. Thanks. I am including an employer letter stating my current salary (higher than my previous W2) as well as my contract and 6 months of payslips clearly showing I earn above the requirements by myself. It really should be clear but I'm paranoid! I will also handwrite that I am including the W2s to show our separate income and that I am the sole sponsor of the applicant.

Are you you saying that you think with the transcript that I do not need to include all W2s and can send just my own? Is there any harm in sending both the return and the transcript since I have both here?

  17. Hi, I have read and searched many times but am reading some conflicting information. I am filing I864EZ for my mother and getting together the supporting documents. I am married and file taxes jointly with my wife so I am sending the complete tax return for 2016 along with my W2 (meet income requirements with this amount) and 1099 showing all my income. My question is, do I need to submit my wife's W2 even though she is not a co-sponsor, to fully show the breakdown of the income on our joint return as the total income that I have to write on the I864EZ is joint income? I did not think I needed to send hers as well until I read this:

If you provide a photocopy of your tax returns, you must include a copy of each and every FormW-2 and Form 1099 that relates to your returns. Do not include copies of these forms if you provide an IRS transcript of your returns rather than a photocopy unless you filed a joint tax return with your spouse.

This definitely reads to me that I need to include her W2 but I have not read this anywhere else as it seems that they are only interested in my W2 as I am the only sponsor. Please help! I've read so much now that I am confusing myself. I don't want to send hers if I don't need to becasue I don't want it to look like I am trying to use her income to qualify as I am not.

Also, I have the2016 tax transcript as well as the full return. Should I submit both or just the return, since I need to submit W2 anyway?

    thanks so much

  18. Are you both on the birth certificate? I'm just curious as to why it is relevant or why and at what point do they even question who gave birth to your son, in that case. The birth certificate doesn't usually show who gave birth. It is absolutely discriminatory and I hope it gets processed asap. I am married to my wife and I gave birth to our kids (in the US so they are citizens) after we got married and got a GC and naturalized after having them. We completed a "step-parent adoption"(hate that term) recently to get full protection over here in the US even though we are both on the birth certificates as they can be challenged. We would not need to do that if heterosexual. It is discriminatory. You may want to consider something similar or get some legal advice if moving over here as birth certificates aren't enough protection unfortunately.

  19. Hi, I received NOA2 on 10/12/2017 for my mum who will be completing consular processing in london. i called the NVC yesterday and they were able to give me the case number and invoice number. When I went to the NVC website and put the info in, I get this message:

Please be advised that the case that you have attempted to access is not eligible for further processing by the National Visa Center at this time.

Please contact the National Visa Center if you believe that you have received this message in error.

I assume it hasn't completely been put in the system yet but does anyone know how long I should expect to wait before I can assign and agent and pay fees etc? I have not received an email from NVC yet. Thanks

  20. I had not received anything in the mail but checked my case (NOA1 April 27 2017) for my mother today and it now says this. I understand this means it has been approved and sent to the NVC. I was initially a little confused as I'd expected it to say that it had been "approved" first and it didn't (I've checked every day). Anyway, I'm ecstatic and wondering how long I now wait:
