This is coming. They already had the other ban.

I think you should submit a visa. Maybe even get married and do a spousal visa. The Supreme Court might take the case eventually, so if the spousal visa is 12-14 months, even if the consulate denies it, it goes to USCIS and then goes back to the consulate. So the petition can remain alive for a while until something happens with the ban.

It is just an idea. If the K1 gets denied it will die there. The spousal visa might be easier to get eventually.

She doesn't have a visitor visa, right? The possibility to apply for a PhD degree for a student visa (I'm saying PhD because those visas are usually easier than for some shady program or community college).

Thanks for explaining. I thought the spousal visa (k3) takes much longer than k1 visa, an I correct? It took 3 years for a family member company bf to US, years ago.

how long does it take for phD visa? Or what kind of visa they are called? She wants to come here and do a MD/PhD program.

    Thanks you.

No K1 or spousal visas will be issued after October 18th for Iran. Eight countries are being affected by this travel ban and here is a chart so you can see how every country differs. Straight from the Department of State.

    I hope something changes soon.

I hope so too. This is not right, something has to be changed. Already waited months and now when I was about to send out the k1 form and etc, this happens!!

Ah... :/ I'm sorry... thought you were reading in the right place. If you have the link to the correct government source it would benefit future readers of the the thread. It is sad indeed, but I cannot think it will be a permanent situation.

It's like, the long distance wasn't long enough, now this stupid ban!! I hope it's not permanent.

    K1 is a non-immigrant category visa, but it obviously isn't a F, M or J series visa.

As to the bonifide relationships part I have no idea. This would probably require some consulting with a lawyer to figure out.

Seema like k1 visas will be issued due to she's a bond fide (a US citizen, me). Thank you for the help. Was worried a bit.

If, and this is just a question,  I don't know the answer,  she was able to legally move to a third country would she be applicable through that country or would she still be ineligible due to her Iranian passport?

I'm sure that's possible, but takes years to become a citizen of another country. It will not be a straightforward process such as k1 visa (which is compelled to other visas, much faster).

I submitted mine plain and simple, following the USCIS preference that is. Notification of Acceptance form, check on top of the front of the packet and the 2 passport photos attached behind it, then the cover letter and everything was tabbed with small sticky paper tabs just as they asked for on the site and paper clipped it all together. I put everything in a yellow envelope and made sure to write down "Original Submission" on the envelope and cover letter. It was accepted and received our NOA1 with a case number.

    Best of luck!

Thank you so much. That was very helpful.

  8. Hi everyone,

    My first ever post here!

Have been reading this forum for a while, decided finally to join in 😃

I want to bring my fiancé from Iran. I'm a US citizen and are almost done with the application and all the documents. Wanted to know, what's the best way to mail in all the papers and photos? Should I use a binder and put each paper in transparent plastic covers (like some k1 petitioners have shown YouTube videos)? or should I just staple everything togheter, maybe whole-punch all? I'm confused! Any help would be appreciated.

    Thank you 😊
