If I had a phobia I would try everything and get all the help I possibly could to try and make it better, especially if it was about me and my husband spending time together. No phobia would be worth more than my relationship with my husband. From what I can understand your only excuse is "I'm scared of flying and I won't bother doing anything about it, I'll just have this girl whom have NEVER met me fly halfways around the world instead, to a country like Mexico. That should make her feel totally comfy and cozy".

Welp she has no problem travelling. It doesn't mattee how it happens as long as it does. I have anxiety as well as fear of flying. Could I try meds? Sure. Meds don't work for everyone and could backfire. Just driving by the airport closest to me freaks me out. You want want me to be on a plane for 18hr? nope

Seriously, I've never seen this many bad excuses before.. Why don't you just find yourself a woman in your own country then, if she isn't worth "risking" taking a plane ride for? Better yet, a woman in your own city, then you wouldn't even have to drive either. You could take the bus. Or the bicycle perhaps?

Didn't know flying was a bad excuse. Lets something you have a phobia for and see how much pressure you would handle. Didn't I just state i was going to meet her in mexico?

Trying for a B2, if you have the money, is worth a shot, but it;s a long shot, as many mentioned here.

Have you considered either therapy/ a sedative during the flight, or booking a cruise to see her?

Never flee before because just thinking about it freaks me out lol

Seriously how many more excuses are you going to come up with?

Has she even booked the B2 interview yet?

    Oh im sorry

You must have not known central america isn't safe everywhere. I work with many people from honduras and el salvador and they even told me.

Its final were going to mexico

according to their embassy she doesnt need a mexican visa because she has a valid multi entry japan visa.

    all settled. thanks everyone

The OP's issue with a K-1 is he needs to meet her in person at least once first. So he wants her to visit since he won't fly.

Getting a tourist visa to Canada would be just about as hard as the US, IMHO. I don't know Mexico's processes, but that may be the route to go.

yes i need to research that part more. getting stressed

I'm not sure what she thinks she can do to help your girlfriend with a tourist visa...?

No, you don't need to meet in PI for anything. The requirement for a K-1 - if you get engaged later - is to meet in person at least once within the past 2 years. That said, it certainly doesn't hurt to see her current lifestyle and meet her family, and I would absolutely encourage it. The culture shock alone is huge, and without knowing where somebody case from and how they live, it becomes difficult to understand the source of their views and actions.

    I can't fly. It's that simple

  7. So I spoke with my girlfriends close friend(who was born in philippines amd now lives amd works in america) who lives in the states. She is going to work with my girlfriend to get a b2. If it works i will meet her here in america. I am confused as why her friend said even if we meet here I still have to travel to philippines for whatever reason? That is incorrect according to my research?

All that matters if we meet somewhere in the world as a couple? Correct?

  8. Hello. I posted a similar question in another forum but wantes more insight.

Let me get this part out of the way for people to see first.

I am terrifies of heights. I never been on a plane or even a rollercoaster. I can't do it. It will make me explode thinking about it. I have anxiety in general the thought of flying makes me shake. So my options are thin.

I want to let me gf visit me here in the states. She is 28 like me also. She owns a farm business with her father. She is getting a new job soon at a school. She has family that lives around the world LEGALLY. She has been to Japan and returned home when supposed to.

I have pretty much all B2 visa documents on my side done. She is working on hers as we speak. I have about $6000 in my savings that I plan to use to sponsor her. I make $35-$70k a year with the higher end of that being overtime that is guaranteed from my employer.

I have been researching more and more about this and it seems b2 will most likely be denied because they will think she will not return home etc. I know she will but need to convince the embassy lol.

Again. Flying is worse case scenario but I believe that wont happen because of my fear

It's easy to say just do it but some people don't understand phobias.

What can I do? I plan on marrying her in the future but we need to meet first before applying for k1? What can he done?

  9. My girlfriend is a honest person. I told her if we go througg b2 to be confident amd never lie. If they were to bring up why I can't go to just simply state I have acrophobia aswell as a strong fear of heights.

If I met her anywhere in the world without flyingand applied for k1 later after returning home why would I need to fly to do that? K1 states I have to meet her before applying?

Get on one of the cargo ships and cruise to Philippines or some third country that both of you can visit?

Definitely seek treatment for your phobia. These days most airports have a program to help overcome fear of flying.

Do you have more info about the cargo ships? I believe it would take forever to see her lol

  11. I appreciate it everyone. I will look into fear of flying schools and help. Should I still attempt the b2? Worse case scenario i lost i believe $160 and the time spent doing documents?

I live in Massachusetts so best case would be a total of 16 hours in air which is insane unless maybe I travel to california before flying which would make it shorter?

Not only my fear is flying I have also been known to get anxiety rather quickly the past few years which is annoying. I love her so much so i will try my best to make this work.

  12. Appreciate all your replies and advice. I don't know what to do. It is a phobia amd maybe ill need to sekl therapy but I am very stressed to know b2 might fail. She has her own farm in the Philippines that gemeratea revenue sp im not sure if that will help convince the embassy she will return home. She has alsp visited Japan a few times and went back home when expected. Maybe that could help also.

I will still attempt the b2 and hope luck falls in my favor. :(

  13. Okay. Here it goes.

I am a 28 year old male born and raised in the United States. Full US Citizen.

I have been dating a 28 year old female online from the Philippines for about 10 months. We have tried to do as much research as possible.

We are working on a b2 visa because of my fear of flying we cannot do the K1 because we have to meet in person which can't happen unless she comes here.

I plan on marrying here within tje next year but we need to meet first.

My goal is for her to visit me for two months. She will go home and soon after we will try for a K1.

Is this possible? I know the embassy probably doesn't care about my horrendous fear of flying over to her. If I could I would.

If my above plan isn't the right direction can someone direct me please?

    Thanks

    Matt
