  1. Here in Ocean City, MD the wind is crankin and there's some rain. Otherwise not too bad. I'm sure the streets downtown will be flooded come high tide and the boats will be floating above the docks though.

  2. Thanks for the reply's.

About sending the greencard abroad, I was talking about having someone (a friend) bring it with them (pick it up from my parents) to Costa Rica when they come down to fish with us. My wording probably wasn't the greatest. We're still keeping the same address in the U.S. This Costa Rica trip is a job on a U.S. sportfisher going to Costa Rica for just several month's. Our home is still in MD.

My travel confusion is because of the contradicting instructions given by the embassy and the POE. I'm thinking the lady at the embassy was talking more of problems the airline attendent might have if my wife doesn't have an actual "green card", though her visa specifies otherwise. She was quite adament about my wife having problems and told her to wait for her green card. Maybe it was just her tone. At the POE the officer was pleasent and said she would have no problem being alowed in. That's where my confusion lies.

  3. This is just a stamp that shows "admitted". Then they wrote in CR1. The visa itself staes "UPON ENDORSEMENT SERVES AS TEMPORARY I-551 EVIDENCING PERMANENT RESIDENCE FOR 1 YEAR.

Where would I get an infopass to get a I-551 stamped in her visa? Why wouldn't they put it in to begin with when she entered. Especially since I asked if she can travel---in which case he said yes. Why would they just put an entrance stamp on her visa/passport pages? So confused but need to buy a plane ticket ASAP.

  4. What exactly is the 551 stamp! My wife arrived here in the U.S. in mid october. She still has not recieved anything (green card, ss#). The lady at the embassy said for her not to travel until she recieves the green card. Upon arrival the immigration officer said she can travel.

I hear alot about a 551 stamp in the passport to allow permission but I'm not sure exactly what that is. She has nothing that says 551! Just a regular entrance stamp which is partly on her visa but mostly on the corresponding page in her passport. Instead of a date written in they wrote in CR1. Is this what they mean by the 551 stamp to allow travel or is that something else.

Looks like I picked up a ride in Costa Rica for the next several month's and need to be leaving next week. I don't want her to have any problems when we return.

On a similar note, has anyone had someone deliver their green card to them in another country so it could be used on arrival?

  5. Not disapointing at all. There is absolutly no problem with that. I'm not a contractor. never been one either. All I've ever owned were full sized vehicles and thats all I ever will own. I like reaching my arm out and not even comming close to touching the windshield. I like a wide stable vehicle that sits high up. I like 4wheel drive. And I like a V8. Personally, I, like many others chose these type of vehicles because thats what we want. No need to justify it.

  6. What do you want me to do? Pretend I am not better than those from 2nd and 3rd world countries. That would be lying.

Pretend. You ARE no better then anyone else! 1st, 2nd, or 3rd world. What an arrogant a-hole to even think he's better then ANYONE. I'm not even going to play your game. I took the bait but spit it out. I'm done with you. I sure hope you aren't an example of the typical australian.

In reality I think your just some punk-#### kid on mommy's PC tryin to start trouble. Go to bed now! Hopefully you have an early plane to catch back to Australia.

BTW, just because my wife is from Colombia does not mean she's into drugs. Neither am I! And to answer your earlier question, I'm a born and bred American (from the D.C. area) who spends most of the winters in Costa Rica fishing. Met my wife there as well as many other good friends.

  7. Hang in there! I'd take it as a good sign that they kept his passport.

To me, it sounds like you are in AP. You stated that she said they had to check for bigamy? You included a cover sheet explaining everything but anybody can write those things down. I would imagine they would have to verify everything by whatever means they use before giving the visa.

I know this can be hard but hang in there. It seems a lot of people (incl. me) have or are going through AP/AR for whatever unknown reasons there may be. I just looked at it as furthur checks after the interview. I mean, why would they do all those checks if they thought the actual relationship wasn't real? It seems the interview is to determine that. That way of thinking helped get me through. Of course the first 2 weeks were the hardest.

  8. Nice gift. Is that the savage 114? I just bought one (pre accu-trigger model) new at a gun shop for the right price. Man that thing packs a punch. Love the gun but am still in the sight it in stage. Just using a temp scope on it for the season (Simmons 3X9). I'm waiting till next year to put some quality optics on it.

  9. Depending on what part of the country you are in, hunting may be a way of life. For instance, I live on MD's eastern shore. Once september comes along its all about hunting. Deer and waterfowl. Waterfowl hunting put this place on the map. We are loaded with geese, ducks, and way too many deer. Not known for overly large deer, but way too many. And since this is all farmland, (soybeans and corn), These deer are pretty good.

When people mention "sport" hunting they aren't just shooting the animal and leaving it, as many who are against hunting believe. They are shooting it to put food in the freezer or put a mount on the wall as well as putting food in the freezer (such as a buck).

I am one of those evil "sport" hunters. Just started back at it again last year. I guess the eastern shore lifestyle finally rubbed off onto me. I like shooting my guns and I like having a freezer full of venison. When the day comes that I get a nice buck, i'm gonna get the head mounted. Of course the rest will go into the freezer just like everyone else's. We don't just throw them away.

As far as seasons and licenses. All hunters, (perhaps with the exception of private land owners) must have licenses. Where do you think most of the money for our national parks come from? There are also different seasons for different game (animals), as well as different methods (such as bow, shotgun/rifle, muzzleloader). So yes, hunting season can last 6 month's in some areas. Even longer with special crop damage permits. Hours are generally 1/2 hour before sunrise until 1/2 hour after sunset. It is illegal to "hunt" at night. But there is no problem in waiting untill the last minute to shoot an animal and having it run off into the woods a hundred yards or so and collapsing. By the time the gear is collected and you give enough time to make sure the animal is dead you might be several hours in the woods into the night. Also to do a morning hunt, it would be best to get into your tree, if using a stand, at least an hour and a half before sunrise to give everything time to settle by "legal" hunting time. I state this because, as I said, night hunting and spotlighting is illegal! But looking for your deer at night or getting set up very early in the morning is not!

I know I can't sway any anti-sentiments toward hunting but have tried to pass on some understanding, however little. As I said, it is a way of life for many people in many parts of this country I, for one, would not tollerate anybody else telling me what to do or not in my free time. I fish, hunt, own and like shooting guns, and no body will change me.

  10. Normally I don't get political, so there is nothing more for me to discuss after this. But I sure can't wait till 2012 when this communist, socialist, moron gets run out of office. This is the U.S.A. not Russia, Europe, Aust, or any other country. If he and this admin. likes those systems so much, they can leave the GREAT USA. Me and many others would gladly kick em outa here and send them on there way to any other country of there choice.

I can PROUDLY say I was not involved in getting this CLOWN elected.

  11. Wife just got into the states yesterday and her CR1 was stamped and "endorsed".

Is she able to travel outside of the country on that before she recieves her green card?

Has anyone traveled without yet recieving their green card?

Why I'm asking is because the lady handing her the visa and giving the instructions at the embassy was VERY CLEAR in saying my wife could not travel (the airlines would not let her leave, or if they did, immigration would not let her in) out of the country untill recieving her green card.

Now when processing when she arrived in Miami, I asked the immigration officer processing her forms. He said she could travel and would be allowed back in the U.S. He said the stamp "endorses" the visa and is a temporary green card.

I'm tryng to see others experiences travelling abroad without a green card and only the 551 CR1 stamped in the passport on her visa page.

    Thanks

  12. Well this stage is over. Decided that since it was nearing 2 month's since the interview and still no word, I figgured I'd get a ticket to Costa Rica to see my wife for a week. Well, 10 minutes after we got to the house she got a call from the embassy. They said her visa was ready and that we could pick it up the next day. So of course we went to San Jose the next day. When we returned to Jaco I saw that there were seats available on the same two planes I was returning home on and the price wasn't bad for a one-way. Bought it for her.

Went to the airport yesterday and arrived about 3 hours early, which was a good thing. Turns out our flight was delayed an hour but they had space available on a flight leaving in a half hour, perfect. We took the early flight, which was a good move. Got to miami and sat on the tarmack waiting for a gate for nearly 40 minutes. Then went through immigration and they took us to the immigrant processing room. I was able to go with her. It was painless but took about an hour and a half. Then she was in. Then some quick nasty airport eats and on to the gate for our Baltimore flight.

Turns out we were lucky arriving at the airport early enough to be put on an earlier flight because if not we would have never made our connection to BWI on the original 2 1/2 hour layover. Of course with even less time with the delay.

  14. So I guess our cool summer, as was last year as well, was only imagined. I also guess all temp guages on the boats I was on were off as well, as the water was a couple degrees cooler then normal and took a while to warm up. Uf course it cooled down pretty quickly again last week.

All our satellite shots were off as well as there wasn't much orange (warm water) on the chart other then the normal gulf stream image and we had a lack of warm eddies break off this year.

Did have a lot of south current and colder water from the labrador current this year which was not normal.
