    N400 Interview Approved!

I was interviewed in one of the windows in the waiting room, lol.  He asked for my 10 yr greencard and passport.

    Civic Test Questions:
    What is freedom of religion?
Why are there 50 stars in the flag?
Why are there 13 stripes in the flag?
What did Martin Luther King Jr. do?
Who is the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court right now?
What is the supreme law of the land?

    Reading and Writing:
    Who elects Congress?
    The people elects Congress.

    NO WORD DEFINITIONS

Officer asked me a few questions to confirm a few details / info about myself and my husband:

    Where do you work?
    What do you do there?
Did you travel outside of the US in the last 3 years?
    Where was your husband born?

He asked about the address change since the one we had when I filed was different from the current one in the system. He asked me when we moved to the new place and if I have the lease with me. I told him we actually bought the place, and I didn't have the title with me because the title company has not sent it yet and I have proof of that. I had a feeling that could be brought up and I am so glad I brought some paperwork with me that shows we did buy a condo: letters from the mortgage company + the printed email exchange I had with the title company proving that COVID delayed their process of sending out the deed of our home.

He also asked us why we filed our taxes separately during the last tax season (we have always filed jointly except for 2019) and I have a ready and printed out explanation for that as well. YES I CAME PREPARED! 😆 He asked for the 2019 Tax forms with the attached W2s.

He asked how our marriage is and if we plan to divorce each other, lol.

    Yes and No Questions followed.

He then told me he is approving my application, printed my oath ceremony appointment letter and told me to come back on December 4 to get sworn in.

Officer was so nice, greeted me "Happy Birthday" and told me that this is their birthday gift for me as it is my birthday 10 days after the oath taking ceremony.

A TIP: In the letter for the interview appointment, it tells us to bring the originals of everything we submitted online. Make sure you bring originals of everything you filed PLUS all evidences of your marriage that you incurred AFTER you already filed because the officer could ask you for those things just like what happened to me. Officer was very happy I came in prepared, makes his job easier he said.

Goodluck to all of you who are still in the process! Your time will come. Keep praying, be patient, worry less and back it up with great organizing skills. I really do believe it pays off being organized. As someone who's always been hands on to all of the benefits we filed, none of them took so long to process. K1 visa took 4 months, adjustment of status took 4 months, removal of conditions took  7 months and now my N400 took roughly 4 months from filing to oath taking.

AND IF YOU CAN, DO NOT HESITATE TO HELP THOSE WHO HAVE QUESTIONS ABOUT THE PROCESS. PAY IT FORWARD. GOOD KARMA AWAITS YOU. HAPPY THANKSGIVING TO EVERYONE!

CONGRATULATIONS!!! Thanks for sharing and for the helpful tips!!!

My daughter is 6 years old and is the only person I filed for, the nvc email me yesterday saying they have approved all my documents and is tooking to schedule an appointment at an embassy outside the USA, will she be affected by the ban even though I’m just a LPR?

    Hi Kelly272,

First of all I feel sorry for your situation, it is heartbreaking to by away from your little angle.

I am in a similar situation, I am F2A and I am only petitioning my 14 years old daughter. I believe that soon there is going to be some declarations/clarifications where these cases are going to be exempted from the proclamation ban.

I was listening to a lawyer recently and she was advising to submit a request for exemption for such cases. She explained that it should be submitted in a similar faction as the expedited request. I have not done so myself but will do so if I see that my case is stuck on NVC. My case is currently at NVC with all payments and documents submitted.

    Best of luck.

    Regards.

As mentioned above, California seems to have the fastest processing times for LPR petitioners. I am certain that all these delays are related to both, the executive order to hold the green card for overseas applicants (extended to inside applicants too) and due to the reduction in immigration personnel. Therefore citizen petitions are being prioritized. So unfortunately everything have come to a grinding halt with with the new policies.

Hopefully we do not have to wait 4 years to see if there is a policy change.

Best regards and good luck to all!

    Finally got approved Alhumdulillah
    Pd: Oct 1st, 2019
    Date changes: 12/27 and 5/7
The approval notice says that it was sent on 4th June but we received it today.
How long will it take to get letter from NVC now?
Also we hired a lawyer for 1st phase so will the lawyer get that NVC email or my husband whose the petitioner?

Congratulations!!!! June is killing it, more approvals to come soon for sure....

Our NVC email came pretty much the next day, but I've seen that for others it has taken longer.

We did not hired a lawyer so I do not know how NVC decides which email address to send the email to. If I had to guess I would say that both the petitioner and the lawyer should receive the email.

    Regards!

I’m jus gonna jus shut myself out now man it’s so depressing ! No date change as yet even thou we got a reply from our inquiry....... this month is our first year anniversary and we cannot spend it together! I’m so frustrated!

Cannot only imagine your pain, try to look at the future ahead and think many more and happier anniversaries are for certain yet to come!

As a last resource, if you have not tried lately, contact a Tier 2 officer and ask what is the current status and rough completion time frame.

    Best of luck!

@LatAmerican_Drimr did u get approval letter or status change in USCIS site it visa tracker etc ?

    Hi Vcgy,

I just got the approval notice in the documents tab in the USCIS account. Which has been pretty much same for a big percentage of the folks in this forum. I guess they are new to these processes or they are so swamped with work that they do not even bother to send notifications to each and every applicant, who knows....One thing I know for certain, it is our responsibility to constantly request for information and that usually keep things moving.

    Regards and best of luck...

Yes, the fees need to have the status "paid" before you can move forward.

They do have some issues at the moment though - fees are being charged to bank account but get stuck and the status doesn't change to paid.

In that case, you have to sumbit an inquiry with a screen shot that the amount has been withdrawn from your bank account and once they see the inquiry (which can take 1-2 weeks), they'll forward the case to their IT department to be marked as paid. I hope you won't face this issue, but just wanted to give you a heads up.

Our IV Fees were processed, but the AOS fee is stuck 😭

Hello B&C2017, Thank you so much for your prompt and detailed feedback as usual.

Man, that sucks! Hope their IT folks can fix this issue.

    Best Regards!

Did ur approval show on any app or on USCIS page or so? Or it’s just in ur doc?

I checked early morning today in my USCIS account and did not see anything, a few minutes later I decided to call USCIS then the tier 1 officer mentioned something about a notice sent to me this morning, then I started shaking, thinking something had gone terribly wrong (LOL) and immediately asked him to transfer me to a tier 2 officer,, in the meantime and still shaking, I checked my USCIS account One more time and the only change was the approval notice in the documents tab, I then told the tier 1 officer that  I no longer needed to contact the tier 2 representative.

Sorry for the extensive response and  dramatic tone, just wanted to share all the details with you.

I think we should have an meetup and greet when most of us active members settle lol .. hope it’s soon 🙏

Having a meet and greet is always a good idea, great opportunity to share our experiences, no need to wait until approval :)
