- Moved to a different state after a week of applying for N-400

- Had an infopass appointment to get a I-551 extension stamp on July 28, 2017
- Biometrics appointment got sent to old address, so I received it late through USPS mail forwarding. Made an Infopass appointment and I was told that the address change did not go through for some reason. Then was directed to go to the local ASC as a walk in for biometrics.
- Biometrics completed on August 10, 2017 as a walk in
- USCIS Case Status online changed to "Case In Line for Interview" on August 28th, 2017
I have had no status changes since then. I have since made an infopass appointment to figure out what's going on with my case. The IO said that the NBC requested my file to be moved from California to the NBC to have them together. My case is waiting in the interview pool and will be sent to the local office, after which my interview will be scheduled. They said that my I-751 will likely not go anywhere because they'll prioritize my N-400 and basically approve them together on the interview date. They said my background check was done and there were no derogatory remarks on my file. I just need to sit tight and wait.
Yesterday, (after 4 months since my infopass), I put an online inquiry into my I-751 hoping to nudge them to push my case forward. This will likely do nothing and I will receive a similar answer to my last infopass appointment. But figured it couldn't hurt to hear an update. Our local office is currently processing December 20, 2016 (that was updated on Dec 26, 2017, but says as of "Oct 31, 2017"), so my guess is at least another 6 months before my interview happens.
If anyone here has additional insight into my situation, I'd love to hear it! If not, I'm glad to share my journey on here with fellow immigrants!
Thanks for sharing your timeline. Good to know there are more traveling in the same boat. I have exactly same coordinates as you do. I have filed 3 service requests so far but no update. The only reason I wanted to have the renewed card was to be able to avail faster immigration and not having to stand in the line for reentry. After waiting for 18 months, I just traveled out of country and came back using I-551 without any issues. The re-entry process was very smooth, no questions asked. Looking at the processing times now for N-400 and I-751, I think filing N-400 concurrently was a good decision. My I-551 is expiring next month so I have to get it stamped one again.

The drag is if they combine both, then you won't know your 751 status until probably the 400 interview which could be 9 to 10 months from the day you applied for 400. In the long run, may be beneficial. In the short run, 751 kept in the dark for many more months. We will see.
I agree. I found the note shared by lesly87 very interesting. I searched on the word N400 and found many interesting matches. Did you happen to see that?

July filers have added a column for "N400 Filers" in the list. It is becoming apparent that the N400 filers have not received any approvals. It is also the fact that 12 of the June filers (no N400 applied) also are waiting approval.

Finally! Not sure if it was the prod from the second out of normal processing time service request. Anyway - it's good to know that stage is over and done with!

Thanks for your response. My I-751 date is 07/01/16 so I am not that far away from June filers and sailing in the same boat as you are. In July forum, our experience is that no N-400 applicant is approved in the 30% approved cases. I am hopeful that we will hear something soon either from I-751 or N-400. Glad to have someone to compare notes.

I would agree on the conclusion on N400 causing delays, but in June most of the wait listed applicants are non-N400.

This is my second out of processing time request. My first I got the following response.....

I waited 30 days and filed another. You can only file one request per month.
Hope you get a better response. My second due date is "October 17, 2017"
Thanks for heads up!! I won't keep my hopes up now. May be two more weeks before all June applications are cleared.

08/08/2017 I had my passport stamped for an additional 6months (through 7th February 2018).

I have applied for N-400. I did put a couple of inquiries in Jun and July forum and not everyone who is still waiting has applied for the N-400. At the same time, except for one guy in September forum, none that applied for N-400 has received decision on I751.

July 1 here. Still waiting. I am hoping for some news this week being the last week of the month. Although 14 folks from June are still pending. Can't complain considering what they are going through.

But I have seen people who had combo interview for I-751 and N-400 at local field office. So it is very hard to predict whether USCIS will combine these two petitions together or not.
My personal opinion is that if your priority is to get US citizenship as early as possible then apply for it even if I-751 is pending provided that you are eligible to do so.
That is amazing! Nothing short of Miracle. I am July 2016 filer. You case brings us all hope.

Has anyone in this forum applied for N400 while I-751 being pending (June / July) and then gotten I-751 approval? I am aware of only one such person so far from local office of Honolulu?
I placed this question in the June I-751 forum but I haven't received any response except for the one person mentioned above.

Right, No appointment yet. Chicago is still scheduling Feb-17 applications. But there are other local offices (smaller cities) that are scheduling appointments for N-400 Aug appointments. Still trying to figure out if this will only delay I-751 process based on physical transfer of the file.

Waiting for the green card doesn't really make sense if citizenship is an option.

There are 3-4 folks (that I know of) in July forum who have filed N400 while I-751 is still pending approval and we are all yet waiting for I-751 approvals. In June forum there was only one person who had his I-751 and N400 interview conducted within 3 months of filing. He is from Honolulu.(my guess is that less open applications)
Based on my knowledge following the N400 (Aug-17) threads, the recent trend is that the online applications have slightly faster response for getting the interview scheduled. But like many other things, it is just a generalization.

A Quick question. When you file online inquiry after your NOA falls within processing dates, they give you a service request number and a latest date you will hear from them.
What is your experience about the date they provided on the service request. Did you get your approvals by that date? This question goes more to filers whose NOW is date prior to 6/20 and have filed SR last month.
It will be great to hear your experience with Service request.
