This is no longer true now.  I have been waiting for over 6 months and I know another individual who has been waiting since early Jan for his interview to be scheduled at the Kuala Lumpur US Embassy

yeah, this was true back then before Trump era :(

  2. My mother who’s under 65 years old, came to live with me early 2017 as permit resident. She has few medical conditions which costed me a lot to take her to doctors and I was financially and emotionally drained. I did few search and I came across this topic. Thanks to Missads, I called the marketplace on December last year and they guided me through the application process. Like Missads stated in earlier posts, I listed her as household (didn’t claim her in my 2017 taxes) with zero income. I was told she was eligible for Tax Credits but she needed to provide a proof of income by march 31st. Few weeks ago, I filed her taxes as household with zero income and uploaded the form EZ 1040 to her online account with the marketplace, and a week later they accepted the uploaded document as proof of income and her application was completed. Luckily, my mother found a job which provides her with health insurance but she needs to wait 90 days to qualify for the health insurance, until then she will still use ObamaCare or AHC. I wanted to share my experience since there are a lot negative people here who will try to discourage with zero knowledge with this process. Again thanks Missads for starting this :)

  3. unfortunately, part of this news is true.. But the refusal is not final decision, Most of the cases that was interviewed before sept 24th, their status changed to refused, and the consular gave them a letter. I attached the letter below.. sorry its not clear enough, but this letter has two boxes, the first one is final refusal (i know lottary case that was denied for good), and the second box, is temporary refusal, meaning the consular we look if your cases is eligible for a waver, if so might grant you a visa..I'm following this facebook page thats provide great information, the link is below.. So how can we apply for a waiver?

    https://pennstatelaw.psu.edu/sites/default/files/WaiverDocFinal_0.pdf

the waiver process is not out yet, and you cannot just apply for it, the officer who's doing the interview will decide if you're eligible for a waiver (see the ten categories who eligible for the waiver), they might ask you to provide for some documents to support your eligibility for the waiver.. Honestly nothing is clear yet.. But please whoever find any information please updates us.

Can someone in the states reach out to our congressmen and senators.Find our what’s our status for USC’s who are petitioning for there spouses right now please and give us some info?

Nothing is clear at this point, but one thing I'm sure about is, this time is COMPLETE SHUTDOWN meaning,  spouses, childern, parents...etc are included in the travel Ban. when the first travel ban was issued back in February , the NVC, and USCIS  are all stopped processing cases from the 7 countries.

The new travel ban is bad news guys, really bad. No one comes in until they make a final decision in June. Even then, it's likely they will rule for it.

Please if anyone knows anything about who have already have visas traveling let us know.

Yes, very sad and disappointing. There are alot unknown, what would happen people who are went through the interview?, are the embassy will schedule any interview from now on? , and even if you go through the interview, what would your status be on the website "under admin" ?. There are still battle going now under the lower court, but what's that even mean?

    Who known.. kheer inshallah. :(

That's weird. Why would they take all his documents and then ask him to send missing documents if he didn't even interview yet?

they kept saying drop all your documents in the embassy mailbox, but we didn't want to do, so they scheduled interview date, and took all his document and he was missing one page from sponser's tax 2016 tax return, so the lady at the window took everything and asked to send email once you have the missing page.. and that was sept. and nothing yet...

My family member went to her interview today. A I suspected,  they asked plenty of questions about the co sponsor. A few about their ages. Why they waited till the children were older to apply and not much else. She said the councilor was extremely nice but the Djiboutian workers are terrible. Anyone still waiting for an interview make sure you know your co sponsor.

She and her 2 kids were approved. Just a waiting game to see how long till they print their visas.

Great, and congrats. Thanks for the updates and info.

Medical has to be done at least 2 weeks before interview. If you don't do it, they won't call your name during your interview day. It's been 2 weeks since my interview day and they still haven't given me a notice about another interview. Is anyone in the same predicament?

yes, My brother had his interview scheduled mid-August, but he was missing few documents, and now its been close 3 weeks since then, and nothing. he sent them few emails and they responded two days ago, telling him to put all his documents in one envelop and drop it at the embassy mailbox. We don't feel comfortable doing that, so we emailed them back for more clarification, and still waiting. Anyone else told to put their documents and drop them to embassy mailbox? please share..

    Hi Ahmed,

Which state are you in? Some states have their own exchange, others just use healthcare.gov  If you used the latter, don't put zero income, use something just above the poverty line (varies from state to state, but you can try something like 20 - 25K until you get through.) The problem with entering zero income is that the website automatically picks Medicaid, and new immigrants are not eligible for it (have to be in the US for 5 years at least.) Also, you can call them directly 800.318.2596 for help, or contact a local healthcare navigator (usually works for an NGO and will help for free.)

Also keep in mind that open enrollment for 2017 is already over. If your mom moved to the US recently, there is a special enrollment period (60 days) to apply for health insurance. Moving to the US from abroad is considered a qualifying life event. See this link

    https://www.healthcare.gov/glossary/qualifying-life-event/

If she arrived here recently, the clock is ticking!

Open enrollment for 2018 begins on November 1

Your mother is eligible for Obamacare (with subsidies aka Premium Tax Credit) if she is here on a green card AND you have never claimed her as a dependent on your taxes. The PTC brings the premiums down significantly (eg from $2000 per month to $200) so don't be discouraged if you see a crazy high premium at first.

Ignore the naysayers, there's significant misinformation from some people who don't know what they are talking about. My parents have been on Obamacare for 2 years now. If I'd listened to some of the conventional wisdom on here, they'd still be uninsured and I'd be bankrupt...

PM me if you have more specific questions, I'm happy to help.

    Ahmed, see my post above

    Thanks Missads,

I live in Virginia, and I even I tried to put different zip code to see if different states has different income requirements. I was told you should have minimum income of  $11,670 to be qualify the saving and tax credits. I called 1800 number and the person I spoke to didn’t have any clue and they kept reading from whatever is written on the website. I wasted 30 minutes on phone with them, but I made appointment to local healthcare navigator, hopefully they will be more helpful. I will provide you with the updates.

I have been away for a while, but thought I'd provide a quick update (hopefully without getting into an argument with anyone.)

My parents (zero income, LPR, not claimed as dependents on my taxes) have been legally enrolled in Obamacare for two years now. They have received PTC (subsidy) that makes the insurance very affordable. They have filed tax returns (federal and state) with the subsidy reported on Form 8962. They had to use the "married filing jointly" option while filing their tax returns independent of mine (I did not claim them as dependents even though we both entered the same physical address in our respective tax returns.) No issues whatsoever.

We relocated to another state this year and enrolled in that state's Obamacare program, again with no issues. This time we enrolled in-person through an official healthcare navigator at a state-run signup event. She too confirmed that LPR parents are eligible for Obamacare and are entitled to PTC if they have zero income and file their taxes separately.

Just putting this information out there for your reference. Believe the naysayers if you want, but Obamacare with PTC is available to LPR parents (remember - zero income and NEVER claimed as dependents on their child's taxes.)

God bless Obama! My parent suffered a major illness and I would have been bankrupt by now if not for Obamacare...

Hi Missads, thanks for the updates. I read all your posts, and you kinda gave me hope after i lost it. I'm similar situation as you, my mother who is 60 years old is living with me with zero income. I checked the ObamaCare website to see if she's qualify. I entered zipcodes, age and income (which i put zero income) and iit keep telling based on the information provided, members of this household don't appear to be eligible for a premium tax credit or other savings on health insurance. But you can use the Health Insurance Marketplace to shop for a health plan at full price. IS there something I'm missing? or should just go ahead and apply and see. Thanks

    Thank you!

he submitted birth certificate of our son, marriage record and contract, the originals and English translate. He also submitted an unexpired police record, also translated. He gave them more photos of our wedding of our son and recent photos of me and my son. Copy of my US citizenship, and my passport. Affidavit of support, spouse affidavit of support, a written statement that explains why I didn't file taxes for the past few years with my signature, must submit the original!!!! Also there's this new DS form that everyone has to fill out and submit. It's called DS-5535 if anyone doesn't turn it in they ask them to fill it out and bring it back. So it's better to take it with you on the first interview.

They asked him questions like when did I become a US citizen? ( this is very important to know), they asked about his birthdate, our marriage date. He said the counselor was nice, spoke Arabic, so a translator was not needed! But I know they have another counselor that doesn't speak much Arabic and he always has a translator next to him.

i think this was it, if I remember anything else I'll let u guys know.

Than you so much, the question about the citizen seems to be very important he wasn't aware of it. i hope u don't mind asking you more questions. the police records was it issued from yemen? or the yemenis embassy in Djibouti issued? and how long he has been in djibout
? if they asked about police record from djibout? thanks and jazakumullah khairan..

They wanted him to get a police record from Djibouti?

Did have a police record from Yemen?

thats a really good question, I assumed they wanted djbouti one since the yemani one was not required since it wasnt obtainable according to NVC...so he ended up getting one from Djibouti court. but it was too late by then, so he gave it to the guard, they said they will contact him and i noticed his status was updated afterword,.
