First of all thanks to God and to all VJ members for all the help and info. i got from here.

Today i had my interview done and got Approval for my CR1 Visa in US Embassy in Cairo, Egypt. And the interview was very easy just lasted for 5 minutes and the CO was very polite and cheerful.

I am just writing this to give a hope for everyone still in the process and to give an advice to be relaxed because i experienced how to be so nervous before the interview and just be well prepared.

    Thanks,

    Kareem

    Hi Kareem,

Congrats, it must feel great and feel like a long wait lol !!! Well I am looking to start my cr1 visa too. If you do not mind, can you provide me with steps since i am not really familiar with being an american to marrying in egyptian and what we would need to do in order to complete the legal marriage in Egypt.

I worry an insane amount about my Egyptian fiancé not being approved just because he is an Egyptian man in today's political climate.  Other than that, there is absolutely no reason he would be denied.  I think it is really a bunch of overthinking on my part when I get started on that.  If the embassy were to postpone us in any way, I certainly do not think it would be personal or mean.  I think they have people's best interest and protection at heart.  But the disappointment would be horrific.  What we are trying to do is be happy that after 28 years of being apart (due to a bunch on non immigration circumstances) we are back in one another's lives and being in separate countries can't change that.  I really wish I could be in Egypt right now or he could be here.  But when we hear from USCIS and then have an interview and get an answer from the embassy, we will make a decision.  I don't care if we live in the USA, in Egypt, or where ever.  I hope it is in the USA because I do not want to move away from my children (who live with their father).  I am trying to focus on the fact that the most wonderful person in the world is in my life.  No embassy or consulate can take that away.  Of course, this is me trying to be positive and supportive.  Your time will come soon.  I believe it.  What benefit would anyone get from keeping legitimate couples away from one another?  It just doesn't make sense.  I think there are plenty of people who try to game the system and that makes it more difficult when legitimate couples apply because consular staff have to be so much more careful to protect innocent people from being taken advantage of.  Good luck.  Insha'Allah it will happen soon for all of you.

Yes, I have no doubts even with the wait I feel it is a time for me to gather myself and prepare for the day my fiance arrives, inshallah kheer ^_^

no i dont work for immigration n the govt, i said immigration work in general. be realistic, with the political climate in the US right now, it is not just an issue of the US embassy in Cairo not being "organized" there is more to it than that.

Yea, I agree, taking too long, time to find a new fiance/fiancee lol jk , how did u guys interview go? Was it scary

honestly guys, as someone who works in immigration work here int he states, it is really not looking good for Middle Eastern/Muslim men. Not to take anyone's hope away, even though countries like Egypt, Pakistan, Morocco arent on the "banned" countries, the immigration process has been made so difficult to obtain a visa that it is as if they are banned countries.

so you work in immigration here in the states? lol so do you know something we don't behind the scenes? what do you think is the difficult part besides the wait and if we are waiting so long what do you think it is for? yea, i know lots of people who fiance or fiancee are here in 6 months from other countries the only one still waiting is me because my fiance is from egypt. i heard they are very slow in cairo. i hope to hear back from the embassy by now but dont know why it is taking a little bit longer than the time frame.

where did you get this information from?

Well whatever is going on some people r approved but still has no visa in hand so until it is in hand there is probably no visa issued. The statistic I don't even think r correct in our so world of thing lol I am sure we r all approved they just want to make us wait a certain time before they will actually give us the visa I guess

all he said to my fiance is that we will review your documentation and make a determination but he didnt take his passport. He handed him the white slip and checked off passport and evidence. But my fiance had both of those items.

Are any of you considering getting married and applying for the spouse visa?

now that is so shady of them, it is almost as if they are saying he don't have enough evidences of you both together and i bet they didn't even look much at the evidences you guys brought them, maybe only took a glance and then for the passport part saying you guys didn't have his passport there with him at the interview........ getting married in egypt will be the last thing i will do, because it cost a lot of money and we already invested a lot in our k1 visa just because it was supposed to be a shorter timing of paperwork that gets him to the states and then we can marry here anyways and then the long paperwork takes place in the state instead. even when CO ask it's like.....dude u and i know we have options, i could barely get directions to the US embassy in egypt and we both are not familiar with marriage in egypt with a foreigner and of course i looked up the process and then we considered the K1 visa route because i know how everything and every place i need to go do paperwork here in the states and here in the states they will not leave you with no answer, they will answer you, followup with you, and do their job 99% of the time. we both don't know all the dozens of offices and stamps that we need to go to in egypt just to finalized a marriage and get a certificate to marry in egypt. besides......i need US Embassy approval to marry there because i am a US citizen? lol besides that so many more offices and people have to witness the marriage and do a dozen of stamping and paperworks........omg i would have to live there for a year to just get marriage paperworks and everything done with good solid evidences. getting married does not mean you wont be in AP, i have friends in AP over 2 years even though they are married and have all the evidences. but as far as getting marry and applying for a spousal visa you can anytime you want while you wait or don't want to wait anymore, you just have to cancel your K1 visa before you apply for the spousal visa. regardless everything takes time and only more time.:(

My fiancé had his interview today and was told that they have to review our evidence and make a determination. I am so sad, we had so much evidence, so much proof, have known each other for so long, i don't know what we will do now 😞

=( ......sorry to hear, but just remember you guys are not alone, ^_^ we are all here together. i think there are only a couple k1 visas that they approved last year to this year, most are on AP even when they were told they were approved, are you guys on AP now then and the CO didn't ask for anything else?

they sent me an e-mail last Thursday stating that they sent the inquiry. I don't think it's just to review the docs because the lady on the phone told me that the CO reviewed the docs and that's why the status date shows July 18th, but why is taken that long only god knows. she kept telling me please understand that "immigrant visas" take a long time.

I have know many people from other countries whose k1 visas are approved even after so many rfe within only 6 months they r here. Sure it does take time, but more than 3 months time to review......that doesn't sound right

I just got off the phone with the embassy support line and it's useless to call them because they don't know any information and she kept saying only the CO knows what's going on and know can even ask him. she said he reviewed the documents back on July 18th and still have it under AP which I don't understand why if he already reviewed the additional document he asked for on the day of the interview.

Did you get to talk to the CO? Or can u talk to the CO
