Hey, I have a question I’ve been wondering about!
should I update my citizenship with IRS?
after receiving my naturalization certificate I did the followings:
I applied for US Passport!
updated my Social Security Record
I got a new driver’s license
registered to vote
And even with the bank
but what about the IRS?
Thank you!

What if I change jobs before taking oath ceremony? There is nowhere to include on the oath letter?
any thoughts?

I applied for the US passport at the clerk of court a week after the ceremony and while they offered the expedite process, I decided to go with the regular process which took approximately 2 weeks. They will keep your certificate and they will send it back to you after you receive your US passport. I received both already.
So did the state department send you back your original Naturalzation certifcate or just a copy back?!!
I hope they sent you back your original!

So I have a question that I have been wondering about it in awhile!
so when you apply for your first US Passport it says on the application " place of Birth - City and Country.
but I'm curious, once they issue the Passport ,would they list the City & County
or just the Country?
I know it's a silly question but I know some of you already went through the Passport process so I was wondering.
thank you guys!

So I'm gonna ask the question that we all have been wondering about at some point!
so when you receive the naturalzation certificate and get ready to apply for a passport you have to send the original!
I know that!
but I read on the passport website that they can accept a certified copy of it!
so now how to make a certified copy?
and does that mean you get to keep the original home and send the certified one to the passport place ?
because to me my naturalzation certificate
Is extremely valuable!!!!
so I would like to hear some options about this!
Thank you and I'm sorry if I sound silly but I waited a long long time to get this Certificate!

What to take to the post office when applying for a US passport for the first time?
I appreciate all your help!

They do not have that at the ceremony. BUT in case they do at the place you are going for oath, by all means do it! You are a citizen the millisecond that follows the last word of your oath, you can bolt away after the oath, demand your certificate, and make a beeline for the table that offers the passport forms.
Thank you so much! Yeah I thought they might not have this kind of service at the Oath Ceremony!

So I would like to know a little bit about people who applied for a passport specifically at the ceremony NOT the post office!!!
Can you request an expedited application for a passport at the ceremony or
express delivery like how they do at the post offices?!?
I would appreciate sharing the details!
thank you!

I don't have a digital camera, can I take my iPhone to the ceremony to take pictures?

Thank you guys!
I was wondering about it!

So after you become a US citizen, do you still need to update your address with the USCIS every time you move?

Posting one final status update after a long Exciting Journey. Anyone wondering about oath ceremony, it was pretty standard just like you would read anywhere else on the internet. Went through security, there were already representatives lining candidates. They make you enter room in batches of roughly 10. They checked my invitation letter and took my green card at the entrance door to the ceremony hall and checked me in. All the guest were asked to wait in the lobby until they checked all the candidates in the hall. We had 77 candidates so there was enough room for guests to sit. Once all candidates were seated, guests were allowed to step in. I had 4 guests with me and it was absolutely no problem. they don't really check how many you have so far as you are reasonable they would be okay. Infact they applauded all the guests to attend the ceremony and being part of most important moments of our lives so that was kind of sweet. Most the candidates were neatly dressed and i would recommend everyone to, atleast for good pictures I was in and out in roughly 1 hour 15 mins (including time to take photos). Good luck to everyone and wish you all get your approvals soon.
Congratulations!!!!!!
so your website says certifcate of naturalization was issued
and if you move go to .... And give us your new mailing address!???!?!?
I always thought once you are a US Citizen!
you don't have to keep updating the USCIS with every time you move or I'm I missing something here?

You will get an invitation/appointment letter for your oath ceremony in the mail, after an approved interview, and after your ceremony date is actually scheduled. You fill out the back portion of it and bring it with you (along with your green card) on the day of your oath.
Some people fill it out a few days before---some fill it out the day of.
Thank you so much 😊

I have a question, so when do people get form N 445 ? ( the one that you have to fill before your oath! )
does the officer give it to you after the interview?
or you wait for it in the mail?
I appreciate the responses

Hey guys, is the ASC affected by the shutdown? My biometrics is scheduled for Monday.
No it is not affected!
you can still attend your biometrics appointment!
in fact there is a statement regarding the shutdown in the USCIS website!
its says:-
The current lapse in annual appropriated funding for the U.S. government does not affect USCIS’ fee-funded activities. Our offices will remain open, and all applicants should attend interviews and appointments as scheduled.
very happy that they still work even in a shutdown!
-
So I'm curious, what happen after biometrics? ( I mean what should I expect in my online account?
so far it says ( we reviewed your biometrics etc....)
so what's next ?
thank you

Question about biometrics:
For the women, were you asked to remove your jewelry (ie, earrings)? I remember doing this for my green card.
Also, the letter says, no cellphones allowed. Did you have to leave yours in your car? If they are really strict about it then I might just leave mine at home.
Thanks in advance.
Also, I was out of the country for 9 days and placed a hold on my USPS mail. They delivered it on Saturday, and my biometrics letter was not there. Thank goodness for the online copy. Can't trust USPS to get things right these days.
I kept my wedding band on and the agent was fine with that also I had my phone with me but it was turned off and it was okay!

So this is my experience regarding biometrics!
my appointment was At 8:30 yesterday 01/02/2018 so I arrived 15 minutes early Checked through security and I had to take off my shoes!
then I went to the lady behind the desk to check in!
She asked for:
the appointment letter
and ID
so I gave her my DL and the GC and the appointment letter
them she stamped my appointment letter and gave me a Naturlazation book to study
and another piece of paper to fill out while I'm waiting, like about your name , maiden name , race , height, weight, hair color, eye color, DOB, country of birth, stuff like that!
then after half and hour they called my number and she said please sit down to take your picture!
then she took my fingerprint!
which she only did one hand!
I hope someone share with me if that normal!! Please
then she took my signature!
all in all was less than an hour!

Hello guys I have a question regarding the civics test!
some of the questions has similar answers! For example:
why does the flag have 50 stars?
* because there is one star for each state
* because each star represent a state
* because there are 50 states
so my question is if I got a question that has a similar answers, should I say all of these three answers ? Or just one of them since they are similar?
( I'm talking about questions that has similar answers)
thank you for your help!

in Moving to the US and Your New Life In America

It seem like there are some states that issue driver’s licenses with the US flag printed on them, that only available for US Citizens!
Does anyone know more information about this?
just curious!
thank you!
