Hi All,
I recently submitted my Citizenship application since my green card expires in 7 months (October). I have the intention to travel abroad only for the Thanksgiving weekend (November), but it seems like my citizenship application will take longer, so I won't be a citizen on time, and my green card would be expired by then. Does anyone know if there's something like a one-time re-entry permit that would allow me to travel while waiting on my citizenship and my green card is expired? I was thinking on renewing my green card, but I already started the naturalization process and that wouldn't make much sense. ANy suggestions or experiences? Thanks in advance.

No problem the email subject will be as follows
Yatri: U.S. DoS Visa system travel document shipment ready for pick-up.
In the little white post card that they gave your husband at the fingerprint appointment it states 3 to 10 working days (it means Monday-Friday, I called the US 703 number to verify because i was expecting the tracking email sooner) or you can call the Juarez number but basically what they tell you is wait for the email. I thought the US customer service associate was more helpful than in Spanish.
Your wait is almost over and congratulations
Great. Thanks!!

Hi
My husband IV was issued on Feb 21 Wednesday (interview date) then case was closed on Feb 23 Friday (i don't know what they mean by case closed but its last update date, it wasn't closed the same day as interview). Received passport tracking email Friday 3/2 9 am pickup at ACS Juarez.
Our wait was 1 week 2 days after interview
Awesome, that means I'm in a normal waiting period.
Thanks a lot for sharing the info

Hi all, according to CEAC, my IV was issued on Feb 28, and I was supposed to receive a tracking number but haven't heard anything yet.
Does anyone know how long for a tracking number to be assigned?
Thanks

Just wanted to share with you all that I am so happy that my husband's interview was yesterday at the CDJ consulate (Ciudad Juarez, Mexico) and he was approved!
They just asked for interview letter, medical exams, birth certificate, police records, and asked who was petitioning. Easy breezy

The real determining factor as to what filing status to use will be the amount of INCOME to report, which ultimately defines your tax liability.
Basically, you should run the numbers both ways to see which filing status produces less taxes

you were married all of 2017, even if your spouse was still over seas like mine is right now, you just file for Itin, but your spouse has a SSN, you can file MFJ but remember to include all of the income they had oversea in 2017.
Ok. Makes sense. Thanks a lot!

Hi all, It's tax season and there are many questions going around regarding taxes, and I have one more.
Here's my case:
-Got married in January 2017
-Spouse lived abroad waiting for interview during all of 2017
-Spouse obtained residency and social security number and moved to the US in January 2018
Should we file as MFJ? Or should I file as MFS?
Thanks in advance.

Hi,
My spouse got an interview date and we want to start travel arrangements for the interview in Ciudad Juarez, Mexico (CDJ) as soon as possible. He currently lives in Tijuana, Mexico, and we figured that the easiest way to travel back to Tijuana from Ciudad Juarez is to fly from El Paso, Texas to San Diego, California and then just cross back to Mexico. My spouse currently holds a tourist visa, and I am wondering if he’s going to be able to use his tourist visa after the interview (if the immigrant visa is approved) or the tourist visa becomes void.
Thanks in advance.

Oh yeah I forgot to fix that sorry. It was 11/28. Someone had mentioned that I may have got my interview quicker because I got a checklist and it took longer for me to get my CC. But whatever the case my be your probably within a month of an interview date. I would hope.
That's within a week of my CC, I hope I get my interview date next month. Thanks for sharing the news and good luck with everything!

I called the NVC and asked them today after I had saw someone else from around the same time had an interview scheduled. When was your CC? And what was your first SC date?
That's awesome. My SC date was 10/16, and my CC is 12/04.
When was your CC? You mentioned it was 11/28, but your timeline shows 10/28. Which one is it?

Hi all! My husbands interview is in CDJ on January 9, 2018!! Super excited but I have two questions that we are confused on and hoping someone can reply with help!
1: Can the police record from Mexico (or certificado de no antecedentes penales) be gotten there in Juarez before the day of his interview, or does it have to be from the Mexican state he grew up in 18 years ago? (My husband has lived in USA for 18 years and is flying straight to Cuidad Juarez for his interview, having to get it in his hometown in Mexico would be a whole other trip)
2: As far as the courier service goes to pick up your packet after your interview is approved, do you have to pick it up there in Juarez or can you select the courier service to be delivered in another state in mexico? Does anyone know if there is a time difference, or which option is less of a hassle? THANKS IN ADVANCE
Congrats!
1. -If your husband lived in Mexico for more than 6 months then he needs a police certificate from his home State.
-If your husband has lived in the US for more than 6 months, he needs a police certificate from the US.
-If he has lived in any other country for over 12 months, he needs a police certificate from that country.
I think he's gonna need to travel to his home state because they take a picture of you and include it on the certificate.
2. It can be delivered somewhere other than Juarez. If you stay in Juarez it takes about 3 days. If not, it takes from 5 to 7 days.
Hope it helps.
Can I ask how long did it take from Case Completed at NVC to interview schedule? Thanks
-
I'm in a same-sex marriage, so it was tough to gather evidence, but I provided with plane tickets, hotel reservations, and about 7 pictures of vacations with family and friends.
Application was approved with no issues at the USCIS and NVC.

Extension Letter (I-797) Expiring Soon
in Removing Conditions on Residency General Discussion
Posted
Hi All, last year I submitted form I-751 to remove conditions on my permanent resident status (I currently have a green card). USCIS sent an I-797 letter extending my conditional status for 18 months, but this letter expires in two months. Does anybody know what happens when this letter expires? My main concern is that I'm no longer going to be able to travel outside the US (which I do very often to visit family). I've tried to contact the 800-375-5283 number but they have very limited options and can never get pass the recorded calls.
Thanks!
Dan
