Maybe they are currently updating the status.

Dear all in visajourney,

I got my I-551 stamp on my interview date at Portland immigration office on Jun, 18th. And then couple days later I got the welcome letter as well as the green card. Sorry for coming back late to express my thank you and share my case with all of bros/sisters here!

As you can see from my timeline above, I actually filed my case on Sep, 1st for the first time, and then it was returned for no reason, so I filed my application again on Sep, 22nd. and then had my bio taken on Ocr, 13th. I waited for 9months to get an appointment letter for July Interview, but I went to portland office and pulled in the interview to Jun, 18th. Here is my interview experience sharing:

The appointment time is 10am on Jun, 18th, but we waited until 11:30 , then interview started. THe officer was a mid-age madam who is obviously a very kind & friendly lady. The questions started with my husband with simple questions like:

1. Where were he born? DOB?

2. What's his parents' name?

3. Where does he work? Annual income, asked for last two year tax return/W-2 forms

4. How we met?

And then she started asking me questions:

1. What's my name? DOB?

2. What's myparents' name?

3. Is this first time I entered US, (i said no, and then she asked when was the last time i entered US)

4. And then she ask what are the proves you prepared for today's interview, and then i gave her jointbank accout statement, our last year tax return we filed together, without giving her anything else, she said enough already. : )

5. One very smart question she asked is how come the marriage certificate has my signature in July while I hasn't entered US yet. WHile i was thinking of the anwer, my husband helped to answer, because he brought those papers to China for me to sign ahead of time and then for him to bring back and handed over to court to reserve time for our marriage registration. Of course the officer was totally released/happy with his answer. I bet that was the only concern she has over our case.

6. Finally, i presented some pictures out of 4 picture albumns i brought with us. SHe said you really don't have to show me that much picture, i just need to see some will be more than enough.

And after that, she said your name check is clear and i will give you stamp today and you will receive your green card in 4-6 days. The total process cost around 20-30mins, nothing hard/difficult, everything went smoothly more like a chat. But one thing I do want to call out is officer like organized people, every time she asked for something i was able to present them within 2seconds which certainly made her feel happy and easy.

THis is a brief sharing of my 10months of AOS experience, and along the process i had been gettings so much help and so much question answered in this forum. I really appreciate people deligating their time and knowledge to help other people out in things like this. ANd I will continue contribute my time/energy to help others out as well in this website.

I am anxious to know whether an approval decision will be made during the interview, or you will only be notified through mail later???

yes, the approval decision made during interview. during my interview I was told that I was approved and on the same day i got email from USCIS that they mailed welcoming to a new permanent resident-if you have created an account in their website.After after 3 working days i got the snail mail.

It is very exciting to know that is the case. So i don't have to be anxious about what will be the decision!!! Thank you very much!

AS you can see from my signature.... It took 3 days from the email of Welcome letter being sent til I got the welcome letter. So 4 days from my interview that I was approved at. Also... took 8 days from the interview to get my GC in the mail. (because of the holiday... would have been 7 I figure) But I had done a survey before it arrived and it appears to arrive 8.3 days after approval.

If the medical examination I did was more than 1 year ago in CHina when I applied for K1, do I need to redo the examination or i don't need to worry about it.

What is I-551?? so after getting approval, what will happen next? We will wait to get a welcome letter and a physical green card?? Or just the stamp on the passport?

Finally after more than 8 months waiting, I got my interview schled on Jun, 18th. Now I am wondering does anybody know how long it will take for me to receive the green card welcome letter after interview(Assume i will get approve right away which I know I will , hee hee)?

It seems that you are being transferred back to the NBC, who will then more than likely send your case to your local office. You will probably be scheduled an interview there at some point.

At very beginning I sent my files to Chicargo office and then it was transferred to CSC and now CSC transfered my files to NBC. Not sure why it is being transferred so much!!!!!!

It has been more than 7 months since the receipt date, I am wondering at this point does it mean I will be schled for interiew soon?

Today I received a case status update as below. However I don't quite understand. Can somone tell me whether it is normal to be transferred from CSC to National Bnefits Center for I485 application?

You can get a better idea by looking at the posted processing dates for I-485 at your local office.

You can find out what your local office is by looking at uscis.gov (the processing dates are posted there too).

yeap i checked that date, as of Mar, 15th data, they still processing Aug, 15th case.

That is actually normal. It can take even longer...Sorry, I am also about to file for AOS and I know It will take a long time.

Is that a normal processing TPT, I heard 6 month is a normal TPT, if longer than that, can we complain or request for expedite?

my receipt date for I485 is Sep, 23, so by today it has been 6 months. Does anyone has any idea on how long it will take for me to get the 2 year green card???

Traveling from the US Mainland there isn't an immigration check going from or to Hawaii. But technically, if you are traveling, you should have it with you.

Meaning only carrying my driver's license is not enough, i still need to carry my passport!

The reason why I am asking is because I really don't want to accidently lose my passport if it is not required.

if you are flying from the US, then no, you just need drivers license...you are not leaving the US..you may need another ID for the airline, but there is no immigration check for flights from state to state

Why would you not bring it with you? (Out of curiosity) and...aren't you supposed to be able to prove your status at all times?

Did you apply for Advance Parole? If not, don't travel until you receive your green card.

Definitely do not go without a green card or Advanced Parole. The fact that you entered on a K1 visa holds no bearing on future trips. Good luck with the rest of your journey and have a fun trip. I am surprised it has taken so long to get a green card though. Is this your temporary or 10 year green card?

I entered USA with K1 visa and now I am in the processing of I-485 adjustment. I am wondering is there a way I can bring my parents to US as well??

Would appreciate if anyone can indicate a clue.

I mailed my I-485 and I-765 together on end of Sep and received notice on Oct, 5th saying they received my application. And then after that I took biometrics on Oct, 13th and till today I didn't receive any further notice of approval mail or anything.

So i am wondering how long it usually will take to get work permit after took biometrics?? And does anyone here know where I can call to check this out?

I mailed my I-485 and I-765 together on end of Sep and received notice on Oct, 5th saying they received my application. And then after that I took biometrics on Oct, 13th and till today I didn't receive any further notice of approval mail or anything.

So i am wondering how long it usually will take to get work permit after took biometrics?? And does anyone here know where I can call to check this out?

there are many that have been transferred to california...

in your post you stated you were approved for both applications...then the notice of transfer

if that was me i would be ringing them to clarify ... if your approved why are you being transferred...

Hi Kath, thank you a lot and I think you are the right. The letter I received must only be a notice of receiving my application. I did already go to take finger print those type of thing though.

Hi dear all, I filed I-485 and I-765 all together to Chicargo office about 3 wks ago, and then I received one notification letter from home land security saying these two applications have been approved. And then 2 days ago, I received another letter says In order to speed up the processing, your I-485 application has been transferred to California office.

I have no idea about why I-485 application is being transferred, does anyone here experience that before? Or does anyone has any clue whether this is normal??

Are you sure notification letter from DHS said approved ?? Maybe they were a notice that they received your applications and that they cashed your checks ... If it is definately an approval then I would be contacting them to get more details ...

As others have said here being transfered to California is a good thing as you normally get approved faster than if you went through your local office and usually without an interview ...

Does approval usually happens before fingure print or after?? I think you probably right so far I received three letters, one is notify me they received my application, second they notify me to take finger print which I did already 2 wks ago, the third mail is the one they told me my case is transferred to california office.
