  1. Hi guys,

I just filled petition for my parents. I'm USC. Just wondering what to expect, that way I can prepare early. Thank you for being part of our journey. :)

sorry I don't have answers for you but I'm wondering what documents did you fill out aside from Form I-130?

On the USCIS website it only say 1. Form I-130, 2. A copy of your birth certificate showing your name and your mother’s name, and 3. A copy of your Certificate of Naturalization or U.S. passport if you were not born in the United States.

Is there any other forms/documents i am missing? any help is appreciated. TIA

  2. i hope the info on their website is up-to-date: http://www.chicagopcg.com/forms_eppt.html

    A. RENEWAL OF PASSPORT

    1. Accomplished e-passport application form.

    2. Latest issued Philippine passport (the old passport will be returned to the applicant).

    3. Submit the following documents:

    a. Photocopy of pages 1-2 (data page) of the old passport and the page with the latest arrival stamp in the United States

    b. Photocopy of the alien registration card (green/pink card), for U.S. permanent residents/ immigrants

    c. If old passport does not spell out the applicant’s complete middle name submit photocopy of proof of middle name, such as Birth Certificate, Baptismal Certificate etc.

    d. Photocopy of proof of actual residence such as driver’s license, state ID, employment ID, or utility bills, etc.

    thanks for the reply.

I have that information with me too but I want to know if anyone renewed their passport recently.

Reading on their website I would think that I will only need to submit a copy of each.

I just want to make sure I have all teh required copies when I go to chicago.

  3. I called the Philippine consulate (chicago) passport department earlier and asked how many copies of each documents I need to submit to renew my passport. The lady I talked to said one of each.

Does anyone here renewed their passport recently? How many copies of E-passport application form, data pages of the old passort/latest arrival stamp, greencard , BC, Drivers license, and copy of ROM did u guys submitted?

I'm asking this so I can make photocopies of it now because I read somewhere here (can't find it anymore) that the consulate asked more copies of the documents they listed.

    thanks!

  4. My wife and I had the same problem when sending the Report Of Marriage Form. We typed in the spaces that allowed it and the ones that gave us problems we just hand wrote it. We had no problems doing it this way. If you are mailing in these forms to the consulate then you will need to have it notarized before mailing them. I sent ours and had the Report Of Marriage sent back to us within 2 weeks.

    thanks for the reply.

We're going to Chicago this week and renew my passport and report the birth of our kids.

This are the forms I have:

    1. e-passport application

    2. application for ammendment of passport

    3. Report of Marriage

    4. affidavit for delayed registration (should this be notarize now or at the consulate?)

    5. Report of Birth

I tried calling the consulate but no luck. they just keep me on hold.

any other info that I need to know before going there? Am I forgetting anything?

  5. another questions....

Is it ok that the Affidavit for Delayed Registration and Ammendment of Passport handwritten?

Do it need to be notarize now or It should be done at the Philippine consulate office?

    again, thank you... (F)

  6. Hi to all Vj members,

I'm trying to fill-out some forms from the philippine consulate website and I'm having a hard time with one of their forms (report of birth).

Everytime I typed in my daughter's name on the 'first name' (name of child), her name will also be automatically on the 'full name' where my husband name should be and vice versa. Same thing happens on her maiden's name.

I can't also type any letter on the blank next to 'sex' and 'Am' 'Pm'.

Everything was filled out except those that i mentioned above. any suggestion?

    Thanks a lot.

  7. It's only gonna take one day to do the report of marriage process. I was able to ammend my passport at the same day! I would suggest you ROM that day then apply for passport that day also. YOu won't get your passport the same day. They have to mail it to you and it will take atleast a few weeks or even months. Once you report your marriage that the same day, I believe that they'd be able to adjust your lastname on your passport too!

That will be nice if I can do it all in one day... I don't need to bother to gather all the requirements for ROM this week. :)

Do you need to pay extra when u asked them to ammend ur passport? Or is it the fee u paid for ROM? I just want to make sure I have enough cash when I go there.

btw, do u still have the list of the things u submit for ROM and PP application? Do u mind to PM it to me?

    thanks again

  8. If you want your passport to reflect your US spouse's family name then you also have to report your marriage to the Philippine Embassy.

Yes, We're thinking about reporting my marriage to the phil. consulate, I just don't know how long its gonna take. I'm going to send the papers this week.

We planned about going on 2nd week of October. Hope we can have it (copy of processed rom) by then.

btw, if we don't do the ROM what should I click on status, husband name? I'd like to write my husband info but I don't know if its going to make any confusion?

    any thoughts?

  9. hi i know this post has never been updated for a while but just wondering what are the requirements you sent to the Phil Consulate for Report of Marriage?can you PM it to me?! thanks much =)

    Hi!

do u have the requirements of ROM? I saw the requirements from the Philippine consulate website but not sure if it is updated or not. anyway, can u PM me the requirements or how many copies do i need to send.

Do u know how long does it takes to get a copy of processed report of marriage? My husband and I are thinking about going to Chicago on second week of next month to renew my passport and I'll be needing the copy of my ROM.

If I send the documents(ROM) this week can I have it in 1st week of Oct?

    any thoughts?

  10. So sweetginger like my wife, really doesn't have a choice between naturalization or renewing her foreign passport, actually needs both to return to her home country if she is naturalized.

But only applies to your home country, with a US passport, many new countries are opened to you, depending on your home country passport. With her some country passport, many countries require a visa to enter, where they don't with a US passport.

    thanks for the clarification.

My husband and I changed our plan. :) I think it will be better if we just go to chicago and renew my Philippine passport then process my naturalization maybe next year or so. It will be alot of paper works and expenses if I do it all at one time.

anyway, do u guys know how long does it take to get a copy of processed report of marriage from the consulate in Chicago?

thanks again for taking time reading/answering my q's.

  11. 1. Yes. You may apply for N-400 even if it's already pass your 90days period as long as your GC is not expired. My 90 days period was last April 2010 but i didn't submit my N-400 application until July 2010.

2.Every case is unique which means not everyone has the same timeline. With my case I mailed my application July 2010 and my interview is scheduled this coming Oct 2010.

    3. I believe US passport application takes about 6 days to 6weeks or even longer.

    4. If you are talking about renewing your Philippine passport then the answer is "NO", they no longer allow renewing passport through mail. Applying for passport in person only takes few hours but they will not give your passport on the same day. They will send your passport in the mail!

You are not obliged to report your marriage to obtain a new passport though if you want to use your husband's lastname on your new passport then you need to do the "Report of marriage". You may report you marriage through mail or in person. In my case I already renewed my passport before I report our marriage so my passport has my maiden name on it and is not the same as what appears on my "Green card". Later on we went back to the Philippine consulate and report our marriage then had my passport ammended.

    Hope this helps! Take care

    Thank you for the input.

It's just a bummer that the Phil. Embassy don't renew passport thru mail anymore.

Looks like we need to start gathering evidence for my N-400 so we can send it immediately.

Applying for N-400 will save us money, paper works and traveling to Chicago.

  12. Greetings to all,

I am a 10 year green card holder. Resident since 02.23.07. Didn't apply for naturalization when my 3 year

mark down came. I'm not in a hurry to naturalized and thought it's a waste of money to apply so soon,

better use the card until it expired. Plus we have alot of expenses this year. Anyway, We thought about

taking the kids for a visit (around May 2011) in the Philippines next year. NOw, here comes the problem:

    1. Notice that my Philippipne passport will expire on 02.2011

    2. Didn't report my marriage at the Philippine Embassy (don't know if it is necessary to have it reported

    before getting a new passport)

    So, my questions are:

    1. IS it possible to apply for N-400 even though it's way past the 90days period prior to 3 years?

    2. how many months does it takes from sending the form until oath taking (Indy Office)?

    3. Does it still take at least 8 weeks to get a US passport?

    4. Can I renew my passport on my maiden name thru mail?

    5. IF we go to Chicago and apply for new passport, can we do it in a day?

We lived at Indy and we don't really like to travel that far because of the kids. any inputs will be

    appreciated.

    thanks alot

  13. Hi to all!

I am a permanent resident since Feb. 23, 2007. I know I can apply for citizenship 90days before Feb. 2010 but I didn't start getting all my documents ready until now. Also, I WAS a volunteer in our hospital here in town. My questions are:

    1. can I still send my N-400 even after Feb. 2010?

    2. Should I write my volunteer job in Part 10 B.8 (affiliations) or in Part 6 B (employment)? Thought I should write it on part 10 but not sure.

Thanks in advance for all the inputs. god bless all.

  14. please has anybody had this kind of experience? I was approved on 04-07-09 and I waited for one month and my online status was still showing case received and pending. So I called USCIS on 05-07-09 and the staff registered my complaint and gave me a number. Shortly after that I received an email card production ordered 05-06-09. I also went to USCIS website and the online status showed card production on 05-06-09. I have been waiting for the card to come in the mail. and suddenly today I decided to check my online update and to my greatest surprise I saw another card production ordered on 05-21-09. I am completely tired of this and I do not understand what is happening with CSC.

    Hi Everyone,

Got a surprise from the mail today. I got my 10 year green card and welcome to America letter. The envelope looks like a junk mail, it doesn’t have the USCIS logo. Just their P.O Box address and mine.

A quick summary... My online status was still showing that they received my application for removal even though I already got an approval letter on 04.11.09 and the decision date was 04.07.09. They noted that I should receive my card within 60days. 05.14.09 got an email from CRIS that they ordered production of my new card and it will be mailed within 30days. This is also the first time my online status changed. Then on 05.20.09 I got another email from CRIS saying that they sent me an approval notice. WHAT!?! Though it’s WEIRD, I guess the USCIS is making it up because I didn’t get any email from them before.

Well, the waiting is finally over. Thank You everyone!!! To those who are still waiting…hang in there. The approval and green card will be in your hands when you least expect it. Good luck and God bless to all.

  15. Under the circumstances, take your appointment letter and do a walk in on the Wednesday. Your need to reschedule should be very apparent (congratulations, btw) but if you have something showing your due date you could bring it as added 'proof'. They should be able to take you in that day. Good luck.

Thanks Kathryn. You just made up my decision. I'm going to call on Monday the sub office here in Indy just to make sure. Also, ask my OBGYN for a letter so I can take that with me too. Thanks alot.

Btw, I found this link helpful. Just in case someone needs to call their USCIS district offices and sub-offices: http://www.vkblaw.com/law/ins.htm

  16. I just got my biometrics appointment in the mail today and it was scheduled on March 05. I’m happy that I have my appointment already but my problem is that I’m pregnant and my due date is March 04. I don’t want to send the letter by mail to request for rescheduling because it will take too long, I would want to talk to a real person. Does anyone know the number of USCIS Indianapolis so I can call them? I’m wondering if It’s ok to just go (walk-in) this coming Wednesday at USCIS Indy to do my biometrics? Another thing, do I need to get a letter from my OBGYN as a proof?

Anyone knows...? THANK YOU in advance (F)

  17. thanks alot for replying guys!

I'm starting to get worried because I don't know if that is enough evidence (i'm glad u guys think it is). My permanent card will expire on Feb 23 and hope to send my documents this week. I'm still waiting for my husband's friend to sign the affidavit on Thursday. I decided not to notarize the affidavit anymore, I hope that works too.

Thanks again and good luck to everyone of us. God Bless all (F)(F) (F)

We don't have any loan/mortgage (thanks God - :) ). We own the house but it is on my husband's name, so we cannot provide that as proof either. Another thing is, is it ok that my two affidavits are not notarized?

Oh, btw, I wrote our daughter's name in part 5 of the form I-751 and put "US citizen" in the immigration status box. Is this correct? alot of confusing answers as to write the US citizen child's name or not. Any thoughts to those who already got their 10 yr GC?

Thanks for all the advise guys... (F) (F) (F)

  19. Your mom can call 1-909-101-7878 or YOU for her appointment at this number 1-888-877-9888. But be sure you had paid the fee for B2 and all the necessary requirements are in front of you/your mom. In my case they asked about the code shown on DS156 and what color shown on the back of the DS157 (US$131).

    Use this site:

    http://manila.usembassy.gov/wwwhniv1.html

Thank you for ur reply. I guess I have to use the visa point (1-888-877-9888) number. I thought there's some other numbers that I don't need to pay $18 per transaction. lol btw, what do u mean by "what color shown on the back of the DS-157"? my mom never said anything about the color shown but she gave me some numbers that is written at the back. anyways, thank you again for the input. that really helps.

  20. hi.

I'm not a doctor but i just went to Educational Day recently and one of the topics are PPD / Tb. The Infection Control officer told us that if the PPD is positive it doesn't mean that u have an active disease. It only shows that u have been exposed to a person with Tb.

However, BCG vaccination can also caused the PPD to be positive, so, if u really want to make sure u've not been exposed maybe u can ask ur doctor for a "quantiferon gold" test. It is a whole blood test for use as an aid for diagnosing TB and the test is not affected with prior BCG. http://www.cdc.gov/tb/pubs/tbfactsheets/QFT.htm

    Hope this help.
